Reunion Tour

(Spoiler free, just ask Swerve)

If you haven't caught up yet with the happenings of Rodimus and the Lost Light crew in the past thirteen issues of Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye, then you better pick up the phone and call the ambulances, because you have an emergency on your hands! With a slew of great comics in the form of the up tempo Robots In Disguise, the well written flashbacks in the monthly Spotlights, and the thought provoking issues of More Than Meets The Eye, it's far to say that large percentage of fans of the current IDWverse are anticipating Wednesday after Wednesday after Wednesday. It has been revealed in previous issues, and it is rather quite obvious if you have seen this issue's covers or its preview; one of the most deadliest Decepticons has been a passenger of the Lost Light, unbeknownst to the majority of the rest of the gang. MTMTE #14? Enter Overlord.

Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye #14 Review - Guess who's back, back again!

It has been a wild ride for the former formidable Phase Sixer since the Last Stand of the Wreckers. A prisoner in the basement of the Lost Light, this issue puts Overlord against our other star of MTMTE #14, Chromedome. Perhaps at first glance, this may seem like a pseudo Spotlight: Overlord, but as much as the focus is on Overlord, much like Shadowplay, Chromedome's past is at the focus of this issue as well. We know Chromedome's talents, and his mastery of mnemosurgery has given him the short end of the stick to tackle Overlord and his mind. Supposedly the short end of the stick means he has to do it alone too.

Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye #14 Review - Guess who's back, back again!

Or was it his choice altogether? It is a sad circumstance, but the adversity faced by the members of the Lost Light has been somewhat adventurous, but truly nothing life threatening. The cockiness, bravado and arrogance of the majority of the members of the Lost Light, sans Ultra Magnus, looks to have rubbed off on Chromedome. Facing Overlord by oneself, even if he is bolted down and chained, is something that one should never do. Just ask Rotorstorm, Twin Twist, Top Spin, and Pyro. *cry* Wreck and rule, guys!

Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye #14 Review - Guess who's back, back again!

Okay, now it might not have settled in yet, but by the Matrix, Overlord is back. This character has been hyped and written up so well that the mere mention of the name strikes fear in me as a reader. To know that he has been on the Lost Light all this time is one of the most frightening revelations, his presence is a ticking time bomb. While he may have been put on the ship for purposes aiming to benefit the Autobots, those plans, like the ones Bumblebee and Prowl had in Robots In Disguise, are never going to come to fruition. The events of this issue are just so indicative of Overlord's character, that I'm not entirely too surprised, but it is still the utmost pleasure to read.

Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye #14 Review - Guess who's back, back again!

Roberts and company know how to deliver a quality comic, which is able to encompass a vast number of characters, and still capable to develop their personalities at the same time. Wednesday. You = @ your local comic store, you won't regret it.

You mean there is more to Overlord than - wait, even I won't make that one lol! It nice to be getting a more fleshed out bot. mmmm I can't wait. I am a bit sad that there probably isn't enough Whirl in this issue :P .

Ps. that shot of Overlord and that other bot is freaky, but so alluring for some reason. Must be my fangirl crazyness kicking in. Milne Really knows how to draw bots

He was a Phase Sixer, but not a six-changer, no.

He's made up of a tank and a jet. :D

What! That doesn't look like him. Maybe that's why Overlord looks a little elated though...

It's a comic about Overlord, Megatron, sticking yourself in other people's minds and memories, preparing the ground for a massive eight-part event... and you ask me to keep calm?! :KREMZEEK:

Ok. Read it.

Jeepers. I have to say, I preferred this one to RiD 14.
It's such a build-up to the next issues, and I almost felt upset about reaching the last page.

Exploration of Cybertronian biology, revealing some true colours of crew members, shedding some light on RiD mysteries (well, at least one), teasing about Chromedome's past... really, Roberts? Curses.

And something sabrigami will enjoy, I'm sure: the father-son relationship between Megatron and Overlord. Not the most original idea, but well executed.

Really enjoyed the colouring and lettering, too. Felt a nice modulation of tones, and good distinction between memories and present-time events.

Yep. Good issue.

xD

The art where Chromedome, Brainstorm and Overlord are looking at the code to get into the cell, and the Cybertronian is reflecting over his body is probably the most beautiful piece of art I have seen in ages.

Also where's sabrigami. Probably died from fangirl explode.

I'm still in awe at Omega Supreme blowing up in RiD #11, personally.
But this one is also very pretty. =P~

I echo you whole heartedly. I read it early this morning and have been digesting it ever since.

While the development of Overlord is very welcome, I'd go so far as to say that Chrome dome is the star. He messed this up the moment he mentioned Megatron. I like CD as a character very much. I suppose the signs were all there about his true colors, but when he went so far as to ransack Prowl's mind, I was floored. Guess he hasn't forgiven him after all :-( You could even say that he is now responsible for the mess on Cybertron too.

All in all a very tense and thrilling issue. I can only imagine the carnage and chaos waiting when he exits the cell. Btw, someone on the IDW forums mentioned that #15 is slated for the 20th. This could change, but let's cross fingers that it is true.

PS. I love CD's real name :x

PSS. still here Blurrz. it takes a long time to compose myself after my fangirl exploding. very messy you see ;) :michaelbay:

Oh shit.

I didn't really think about it as Chromedome starting that trainwreck in RID but I totally see that now. Damn.

Yep, also on the IDW boards. I suppose it's because this one was supposed to come out two weeks ago, but was slid forward. Here's hoping!

And I agree, it's definitely Chromedome's big moment (and he kind of messed it up). Overlord is going to dominate from here on.

But what did Chromedome dooooo..?

I'm a fan of the theory that the thing Prowl hints that Rewind shouldn't know is that at some point, Rewind found his old friend Dominus Ambus, or something relating to him, and whatever was found was so traumatic that Chromedome had to erase Rewind's memory of the event.

Or, being that Chromedome once worked in the Institute, and that Dominus Ambus was the kind of person who the Senate would send there...in that case, Chromedome may have known all too well what happened, and could have perhaps been directly responsible for whatever was done; erasing Rewind's memories to cover his own involvement.

Edit: Dear Takara, in the name of all that is sacred, give us Chromedome and Overlord reissues. Please. Thank you.
