Thank you for jogging my memory. It was bugging me that that character looked so familiar but I couldn't figure out where I had seen it. I think you are correct that he is an intentional homage.
It's cool to see a mosaic that takes us back to the early days of the TF story (1984 Marvel Comics time-frame) but even cooler seeing elements of the pre-Transformer/Diaclone toy line thrown in. The youngsters may have to do some research to understand this mosaic but for us "old-school" types, this story is just all kinds of nostalgic fun. Good job on this mosaic.
