Yes, it is a game that uses cards, but not playing cards.
Im not totally sure what Trumps actully is mind.

Sounds like Yu-Gi-Formers to me. Too bad that I don't live in the UK, because I'd like to have the cards for Optimus and Bumblebee.

I was thinking that. They're going to have to flesh out the cast, unless they use both Earth and Protoform versions.
Or, it could be G1 characters with Movie-style packaging.
When one trumps, one beats an opposing player, so to trump is to win or beat.

Could also feature characters made for the toy line that won't be featured in the movie.
Wreckage for example.
