Transformers Offical Hasbro Commemorative Coin box

Posted by GetRightRobot Apr 8, 2012 at 7:00pm CDT 44,999 views
A new collector box which is designed to hold and display the Takara Collector coins that have accompanied Takara MP-09 Rodimus Prime, MP-10 Optimus Prime, MP-11 Starscream, Dark of the Moon Jetwing Optimus Prime and Encore 20 Devastator has been revealed on www.Fattoys.blogspot.

The box is embossed with an Autobot symbol inside of a Matrix of Leadership like design. The collector box is described as Transformers Offically Hasbro Commemorative Coin box which seems strange considering no collector coins were released in Hasbro Packages.

Given the inconsistency between Hasbro and the Takara exclusive coins, we are unsure of the validity of this products' claims of "official", and we are looking into it.

This images have been displayed below and the item is currently listed as available for SGD $50.00 (Singapore dollars, roughly $36.62 USD) and can be found by clicking here.

Oh, THAT kind of coin box.... #-o

At first I thought it was a traditional coin box, like the ones you plonk your spare change into.

This seems like an EXTREMELY niche item.

so does this mean hasbro is going to release the coins or is it just labeled wrong? When i first read the title i though hasbro was releasing the coins as a box set not just a box for the coins.

I don't believe this has anything to do with Hasbro. The shop carrying this seems to be a little confused. It is a brick and mortar shop in Singapore. I'm skeptical about it being official. There is ZERO indication that Hasbro will be releasing the coins.

Aren't these coins made available via purchases of the Masterpieces in Asian markets outside of Japan? Maybe this coin case is instead a product of Hasbro Asia, perhaps?

That's what I was thinking as well.

Seeing it's for coins that are already available and known to the public, I say this is a 3rd party kinda deal.

Hardly, I don't think any 3rd Party would even think of daring to use Hasbro trademarks on their product.

Meh... I only own the Devy and Mp-11 coin, as well as the Cybertron Con Coin. No need for a box. Seems like Takara's version of a OOO's medal case.

They wouldn't be the first, remember X-Transbots Powerglide and Wheely?

Then they must have changed the name since the release of the original promo art and instruction sheet.

Plus, Wheelie was never released by X-Transbots.

Looking at Google reveals you're probably thinking of the SuperAlloy releases, which were indeed called "Powerglide" and "Wheelie" and are based on the original Jizai designs.

No, the first time we hear of X-Transbots was through a "poster" that was posted on I believe ACToys. The poster or promo image revealed that X-Transbots would be tackling two figures, Powerglide and Wheely, it also used photos an the box art of the Jizzai kits.

Later the instruction sheets for both where leaked and both the instruction sheets and the poster used Wheely and Powerglide's official names.

I'll post a link to the old news story once the site is fixed, the search function and the news aren't working.

You must order them directly from Japanese retailers. Some local online stores do have the versions with the coins however.

Officially they come packed with a coin. I say officially because if you bought it from Japan during the 1st production run, you would have gotten a coin. Well, if you got it online, online retailers might have excluded the coin since it comes in a separate box, and not actually part of the toy. ;)
