Transformers Power of the Primes Wave 2 At Australian Retail

Posted by Va'al May 18, 2018 at 3:29am CDT 17,443 views
Thanks to the Facebook page for Australian fansite Ozformers, our portal into the world down under for Transformers, we have a couple of sightings for the Power of the Primes figures from the second wave of toys make its way to retailers across the continent!

Specifically, the sighting reports a single deluxe Snarl, hoping it is an indication of more figures being out too, and the voyagers Elita-1 and Hun-Grrr at KMart, in Sydney. You can see an image of the latter below, and the other sightings in the post from Rescue Bots, and The Last Knight stragglers. Make sure to use our Sightings Database to help out other fans too, if you come across these or any other figures!

Some new toys found in the last week or so in Australia.

- POTP w2 Deluxe - a single sighting so far of Snarl at a BigW in Brisbane, so hopefully this means wave 2 is actually out here. Post here if you've seen them as well.
- POTP w2 Voyager (Elita-1 and Hungrrr) - found at a Kmart in Sydney.
- TF5 Movie w3 Deluxe (2nd Bumblebee, Crosshairs, Strafe) - found at a Toymate in Sydney, which should be getting their stock from Hasbro Australia like Toyworld, so could show up elsewhere too.
- Rescue Bots "Nightwatch" Optimus (Dinosaur with 2 Minicons) - found at a Toyworld in Melbourne.
- Rescue Bots Flip Racer Blurr racetrack set - found at a ToysRUs in Brisbane.
- Rescue Bots Flip Racer w2 3-pack (Heatwave, Boulder, Quickshadow) - found at a ToysRUs in Brisbane.
- Rescue Bots Megabot Boulder - found at a Kmart in Brisbane.

And it looks like Transformers have returned to David Jones, after a 7-8 year hiatus. Don't expect much of a range, or competitive prices... but they can be used as a last resort if they are sitting on something that has disappeared everywhere else.

Congratulations Australia, You may have a better chance to get wave 2 before the US.

Haha, hardly! Wave 2 Deluxes were sighted in the US almost exactly three months ago, and the Voyagers, Leaders and Legends even before that. Meanwhile Australia now has exactly one sighting of one Deluxe from Wave 2, and sparse appearances of the Voyagers. Hardly a bounty - if there's one thing you can pretty much count on, it's that Australia basically never gets new stuff before the US does ;)

Interesting. Looks like Elita has the black painted feet. Has anyone seen a confirmed sighting of an unpainted pink-footed version?

I want pink feet, but I don't particularly want it to blow a weekend having to strip the paint.

There are Hasbro photos and eBay auctions showing packaged toys with pink feet.

Could be pre-production photos (?). Again, if anyone HAS seen or found one, chime in. Else I'll assume William-James is right.

Skritz wrote:Well, Elita-1 is just kinda weird because she only has two limbs, three if you count Jazz (he's popular with the ladies, I suppose). That leave her with a missing arm and that's just really TRIGGERING to the OCD.

Oh trust me, When PotP is all *said and done* if it ends, and we find out there are no plans to complete the current teams (some things are still up in the air like the appearance of Repugnus, Counterterpunch etc...), and the definite final word if we wont be getting any more PotP later in the year....

I'll be taking all my incomplete combiners, and posting pics of them, with their missing limbs, begging Hasbro to "Finish Them"

Seems like a lot of extra hassle for nothing. If the feet were molded from pink plastic, why not just leave them that way? Has anyone tried to strip the paint off Starscreams Prime Armor to see if they are pink as well ;) :-?

Yeah, I 'm guessing someone decided — right as the toy was going out the door — "Good lord, boys won't buy a pink toy. Paint some of it BLACK!"

Sigh.

Hasbro interviewing a potential photographer:

H-"Have you ever seen A toy, in your entire life?"

P-"Nope, not even familiar with the concept."

H-"You're hired."

Hasbro only gave us 2 teams: the dinobots and the horrorcons

There are no other teams in this line, just random bots. So technically there are no incomplete teams since there are no other teams period. They made sure by not even giving us combiner positions or names in the instructions of the random other characters.

I know people are saying this line was rushed but I think its the opposite. I feel they had a big idea which became the new trilogy and then just used POTP as a leftover Combiner Wars 2.0 with characters they heard we wanted most (Dinobots, Horrocons, predaking). Then they just added other random stuff to make it a more complete line before moving on to the next big thing that is WFC.

Hasbro had been planning a "Prime Wars" trilogy since Combiner Wars, though. Seems to me like they had plenty of time to come up with the ending to their trilogy, but something changed. What I think happened is that after they wrapped up production for Titans Return, they were kinda stuck creatively. Then, the next trilogy idea came around, that being "War for Cybertron," before Power of the Primes was thoroughly planned out. Focus soon shifted to the new concept and very little effort was put into Power of the Primes as a result.

^Also perhaps, as was reported last year, the shift from an 18 month Toyline, to a 12 month one to supposedly encourage stores to carry more product by keeping it "fresh".

I mean whats the point of marketing the power of 12 primes, if they aren't going to even give us all 12? There has to be something more. This PotP line has a lot of firsts, unfortunately more and more of them appear to be negatives as a result of cost-cutting

I'll repeat myself: it's because TLK flopped and Star Wars toys didn't sell.

ok so I'm confused...I'm being told other TF toylines don't effect PotP, but a completely unrelated Toyline form the same toy manufacturer does?

It doesnt. And TLK didnt flop, Hasbro showed us their growth numbers. Transformers is what got them the highest growth last year out of all their products while Star Wars is what gave them the biggest loss.

I think we are looking at this from a two different perspectives. William-James, I think you are looking at what's officially releasing as part of the POTP line. ie. This is what's on paper — and that's the facts.

I'm looking at this from the behind-the-scenes perspective. What was the design team thinking? Were they PLANNING a full set of femmebot limbs? Did they have a name for combined Starscream? Are they going to try to eventually release some leftover limbs as exclusives or in the next line? ie. What was the PLAN — regardless of what actually got released under the moniker POTP.

I want that insight... whether or not the ever even finish the sets. If they don't finish the job, I can at least do some customs and finish it myself.

But the notion that Hasbro got to the point of actually manufacturing toys without putting any thought to limbs or names is outlandish. Somebody there had to have a plan for Starscream and Elita-1 at least, if not Inferno. My gestalts are each missing an arm AND a leg, and I know that can't have been the plan.

All of this makes me deeply miss Botcon and subscription service (for figures, comics, prose). We had an avenue to remedy issues like this.

I hope we all stand up at conventions to tell Hasbro we want the rest of these figures until we get them. Just like Don did for a decade until they put out a Headmaster Arcee.

It makes me wish :TAKARATOMY: had stuck to their previous patterns of releasing unique figures. They would have provided proper teams for all the Voyagers, even if Hasbro didn't.

Okay so, if it's not the fault of the TLK toyline nor Star Wars then why did PotP get so 'gutted'? Why are we missing some of the Thirteen Primes on whom this whole line's identity was based on? Why did they release some CW-using new molds but not 'finish' these combiners? If the idea was just to randomly release combiner version of characters then why go out of their way to release full Dinobots and Terrorcons? Or was the plan to release only some complete teams? If so what's the damn point, how does it make sense?

Power of the Primes make no sense.
