Yep, and it doesn't seem like we've (the US) have missed out on anything major with this "Ultimate Edition."

ill have to read more about the extras i do see some new extra stuff compared the orginal version and the screen shots and colors are differnt and brighter but they should have done that with the first version not this version here making colors and the film brighter compared to the 20th edition if the extras are good and differnt from the version i have now ill buy it other wise im not going to buy it just for a couple new extra stuff added to this version here and brighter and better sound.

Basically, Metrodome's picture is better and Sony BMG's extras are more complete. Metrodome were going to use most of Sony BMG's extras, but when BMG pulled out of DVD market, communication broke down.

So buy both for the complete package.

After "Transformers: Movie" Restoration or whatever Metrodome's attempt was in 2005, I'll believe the video quality is better after I see this. Man, I'm going to own 10 copies of this movie in the very near future. Sony's is by far the best of everything that I own so far.

How many copies do you need, it's just gonna be the same stuff maybe just tweeked in a different order with a different cover.

Nothing you can't download.

Not for nothing, I felt it was to color corrected and switched to the origional after a few minutes.

This review of the extras on the Metrodome version sounds like the same stuff we got here in Australia on our “normal” release of the movie. We got the Character profiles, the extended Japanese trailer (with “deleted scenes”), the “Opening Voice over” & Spike’s expletive. But we also got EXTRA stuff too!

Does anyone know what Madman's AUSTRALIAN Special Edition (in June) will be like? Apparently it's a 2 disc set with remastered theatrical widescreen and full-screen editions. It also has 80s TVCs, TV spots, cast & crew commentaries, 'The Touch' film clip (AGAIN!!??), plus 2 bonus episodes ("Scramble City" and "Beast Wars").

It sounds like a good set. Anyone know?

The screencaptures of the new edition do look a lot sharper than the Sony one. I'm not sure if that warrants me buying another copy, though.

I noticed that too. I swear my Sony copy looks a little sharper when I plsy it. Could be wrong though.

I am led to believe that it is somewhat akin to the US Sony release. Being a Madman release is great, as Madman have had the best extra's of any Transformers releases anywhere in the world.

Well, the Beast Wars DVD extras were brillant but the G1 discs were generally lacking compared to Metrodome and Rhino.

Is this the same version of the movie that is included in the BIG G1 set Madman is putting out?
