Transtopia Masterclass - Cross-Stitched 3D Transformers Optimus Prime and Jetfire

Not all great Transformers come in the form of plastic! As Lord Libidan, master of stiching, teaches us, Transformers comes in all shapes and patterns. Not only has he stitched up fan-favorites Autobots, Optimus Prime and Jetfire, he's made them 3D. Hey, not only that, but the stiched up Transformers are actually Transformers, as you'll see Optimus and Jetfire in their truck and jet alternate modes. Talk about creativity. Check them out below!

...and I agree, very cool how he translated those templates into plastic canvas. Makes me think about what other materials different papercrafts could be fashioned into...

Awesome! I'd seen Soundwave's head in this style, but has anyone ever done a full-body Yarnmaster before?

Pretty cool. It's nice to see someone make unique art instead of just another masterpiece custom from a bunch of parts.

He gets triple-strength credit from me.
Getting the Optimus one to transform was tough enough, but Jeftire? Woah.

In this guy's defense, the pattern may be just for the STITCHING. As in, what color to put where. Cross-stitching is a lot more complicated then it looks, so the template may actually be necessary. People often sell stitching templates for flat, two-dimensional surfaces; I imagine even if the SHAPE is based off a paperformer, the pattern would be necessary regardless.

*goes back to the hidey hole*

Yeah, I've worked w/ Plastic Canvas myself. But the fact remains that this guy didn't do the "engineering" for this, isn't crediting the original author for it, and is charging people $20 for a virtual commodity based heavily on someone else's work.

I did purchase the plans for starscream

looking through the projects list he does say "any resemblance to other 3d models or other copyrighted materials is consequential, and not in breech of any legal stance" Copyright mark 2010. The directions do list this as a space jet transformer colored. His stitch guide shows various parts of starscream down in similar styles to jetfire(1999) however this are down in flat panel sheets not folding paper.

I will post some images of this project if i ever start to work on it

I will be working on this project and posting updates as I go to get a sense for the seeker 27. I want to do this mode(cross stitched versions of all 27 main seeker images(including re-image versions such as mid-warp skywarp))

Currant investment
total 40$ (build guide, and parts)
2 hours

I worked on one piece and found I did not care for it that much so now I am working on a piece twice the size of it using a sightly modified stitch.

If it does not satisfy me i will try 3 times the guides directions

I have never done this before so we will see how it works out
