UPDATE
It seems it is only select Toysrus stores in the Quebec area. There is no widespread change in the policy, as confirmed by Ontario managers. This seems more like a case of managers passing their own rules as corporate mandate when it isn't the case.
More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

Call be naive, but what exactly is a raincheck?
Re: Update for No More Rainchecks Issued for Transformers at Toysrus Canada

naive UK'er
google def.
a coupon issued to a customer by a store, guaranteeing that a sale item that is out of stock may be purchased by that customer at a later date at the same reduced price.
so basically if the item you want isnt there, they would give you a raincheck with the sale price on it. so when you come back and find the item you want you can get it for the sale price since the sale most likely wouldve expired by then.

I raincheck is typically a small paper form that a retailer will fill out when they have a sale on an item, but are out of stock for that item. It basically extends the sale price to some future date (30 days, 90 days, etc.) so that when the item is in stock again, you can get it at the sale price even if the sale is over.

Not surprised since there are always bad eggs out there who feel they need to abuse the system just to get ahead.

I am, big time. It will have to go back to the old system now of seeing the toy in the store and waiting for the deal rather than getting it right away with my raincheck.
The thing Kurona (and this may be why they did this) is that all Transformers of a certain class in a line have the same number. So even if Wolfwire and Breakaway are different toys, TRU will see them as the same item. So I would ask for a raincheck for the item number and get a coupon that said I had 90 days to get a deluxe for, say, $10. And then I would be able to get the new deluxe right away for $10 when I found him in a store (even though he technically had not come out yet when the sale was on). So that was fun. but now its over. it will be like the states and the UK now where I have to wait for a sale to get the item I want and I will be restricted to what their selection.

This was learnt first hand as I walked into Toysrus today, seeking a raincheck for the deal they had on Titans Return leader toys (at $35 CAD), and was told that corporate has decided that rainchecks will no longer be given for Transformers items. There has allegedly been some foul play involving rainchecks and it got bad enough that Toysrus Canada has decided to stop this practice entirely. This was discovered in Quebec so let us know if you hear the same at your local Canadian Toysrus.

Until corporate has any policy changes distributed in writing, the existing written policy from corporate always overrides whatever 'rules' a store manager or employee decides on. Make sure to contact corporate when a store won't follow existing rules/policy.

Sure? Because at that price, I may buy it again if I happen upon it in stores.

The Toysrus Christmas catalogue was leaked on saveland.com and there are some sweet deals. The best is Combiner Wars voyagers for $9.97 ($7.44 USD). This is probably to clear out the massive restock they recently got of the Transformers Combiner Wars wave 4 voyagers Motormaster and Battle Core Optimus Prime, which is pictured below. There is also a $10 off deal on the Power Surge toys. That is it in terms of Transformers deals but the catalogue is filled to the brim with toy deals ranging from Legos to Power Rangers (also pictured below). Also, if the toys you want are not there, you can ask for a raincheck. Policy has been verified and all Toysrus stores should provide a raincheck if the toy on special is not found. If they are not willing to give you a raincheck, you can call and let Toysrus Canada know that you were not given a rain check for a certain product. Then they would escalate the case to the Executive Customer Relations Team.
Happy hunting and saving Canada!
