Video review of Transformers Kingdom Puffer and Road Ranger

Posted by ZeroWolf Sep 15, 2021 at 3:59pm CDT 40,911 views
Greetings Seibertronians! Fellow Seibertron user, Razorbeast88, has let us know that YouTube Toy Reviewer, Chefatron, has uploaded two new video reviews! The two reviews in question are of Puffer and Road Ranger, a rumoured two pack that was first teased via an Australian Amazon listing. We've already had a look at Puffer, but this is the first time we've seen Road Ranger.

Both of these toys are redco/retools of Transformers Kingdom Huffer (who has a retool in Pipes, who is set to appear still Kingdom). They're also supposedly part of the Golden Disc Kingdom subline, which is where Terrorsaur will join his fellow Predacons.

Puffer

Road Ranger

What do you think of these toys? Do you own the base molds?

Shout out in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

Fellow Seibertronian Chuckdawg has a video review of the set that is being shipped from Amazon to all those who ordered it in the US. It's the latest Transformers Kingdom Battle Across Time set featuring Sideswipe And Skywarp from beast Wars II.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:If I'm being honest this set feels a little flat to me. While I appreciate the work that went into retooling Sideswipe for a more G1 look, I feel the steps didn't go far enough. Skywarp just feels off but I'm impressed by the head sculpt. Hopefully down the line, we'll see a proper Generations style Magnaboss set. If you like what you see then pick up the set, but for most this might be an easy pass.

Saw these yesterday. It is interesting that they didn't include the cab swivel/pivot for Road Ranger, so he could be an exact copy of Huffer.

Could you explain that? Road Ranger is the alt-head retool of Huffer and has the cab facing up, while Puffer is made from the Pipes version of the tooling and has the cab facing back.

Aha! IDToys deployed this crunchy sports eagle combo nearly a month ago! How boujie are me and my fellow UK TF fans, eh?

Y'know, apart from the Brexit thing...

There's something I'd normally say here, but I'm in a good mood. :saint:

On the figures themselves, however, not for me. Though I'm sure the people who bought Huffer to take 1 picture of him with Optimus' trailer would get 3 more of him. Accessory bins don't fill themselves, do they? :BANG_HEAD:

Sure. The only difference in the Transformation of Kindgom Pipes vs Kingdom Huffer is that they added a swivel on the back of the Cab, so, as you say the cab can face backward. I just thought since Road Ranger was likely produced later, I'm not sure why they just didn't keep the swivel (although unnecessary, since he is as you say a Huffer Repaint (except for the head)), instead of switching back, and eliminating it just t be exactly like Huffer.

It's possible that swivel is gang-molded with the Pipes parts, thus for Pipes only. Hey, one less point of breakage.

That would be my guess as well. His 2 guns and whatever new parts including the swivel are probably all on the same mold and can only be used together.

Finally saw Wave 3 Deluxes in store for the first time, at Target. Or at least I saw two Tracks and two Wheeljacks there. Already have them so I was hoping for wave 4. Still no Worlds Collide set, might have to turn to eBay or beg my neighbors to the north for that set soon since it hasn't been restocked (if being available for 3 minutes in the middle of the night and being scooped up by bots counts as restocking) on Target.com for a month or more.

I can provide it rather easily. Problem is you'll be paying quite a bit for it. It's $105 USD before shipping, so somewhere around $150 total.

This listing here is better than how much you'd pay by going through any canadian friend

Yeah, but then I'd have to give my money to a scalper so I'm trying to resist it. How much to ship loose? :-? :-D It's going to be a little while longer before I can go that rout, as I prepare for my new job money isn't going to be entirely consistent for a few weeks next month.

I got a shipping notice for Sideswipe and Skywarp, they're coming on Monday! And as a bonus, because the price of the set went down since placing my pre-order, I've saved $5 on it.

It would end up around the same price as that misb set on eBay.

For some of you that have had Tracks for a while now, is he still holding together or flying apart as many people have feared.

I finally picked him up an am terrified of doing anything with him, given how tight the transparent plastic has to tab together. Not to mention, I transformed him once and already see stress marks on parts of him.

I have a stress mark on the windshield roof from tabbing and untabbing from the hood hooks.

Outside ion that and the tiny stress mark on the pin holding the leg panel in he's fine.

That windshield roof tab terrifies me. It has to clip in so tight.

But one thing that I haven't read about is that the transformation joints on Tracks shoulders are so tight that flipping them in and out cause stress marks on mine. I circled where on the pic (the pic isn't mine it's just for reference). There's also stress marks on the front car panels for some reason.

There's just so much wrong with this figure. I wanted Road Rage but am now reconsidering.

It's definitely over-engineered and disappointing, but are stress marks really a deal-breaker? I'm at the point where I'm pretty much okay with anything short of outright breakage, and I don't have an assumption that they're going to remain completely intact forever.

I was just watching a youtube review and his copy has stress marks in the same spot so I know it's just not my copy.

The stress marks, on their own wouldn't be, but people are right about the other issues the figure has.

The clear plastic + tight tabbing required makes him seem very fragile
The crappy legs that have loose joints, and just come apart, and are needlessly complicated to transform, AND have the product code right on the front where you can't miss it.
Heck, even the arms have clearance issues because the wheels hit the chest.

All of these seem like minor thing but such a large collection of them make me wonder how rushed this mold was. Was there any quality testing after he was finished?
