Why haven't we seen hide nor hair of these figures in the U.S.? The answer to this question is purely speculation at this point. There are rumors that Hasbro has decided to cancel the scout assortment in the U.S. There could be many possible reasons why Hasbro would choose to do this if it is true. One reason might be that over seas currencies are doing better than the U.S. Dollar. Other companies have done this before. Here are a couple of interesting articles about this practice.
http://www.wiiblog.net/struggling-us-dollar-effects-wii-fit-release-805/
The other aspect of the shortage sounds more believable than the first. The US economy has been struggling for the past few months. We’ve seen food and gas prices rise as the dollar has lost its’ power. The euro has actually become more valuable than the dollar, and for this reason accounts for some of the shortage. It’s been estimated that Europe received over 2 million Wii Fit units, while America only received 500,000.
Here is a quote from Michael Pachter, a professional analyst, “The shortage demonstrates one consequence of the weak dollar. We’re seeing companies ignore their largest market simply because they can make a greater profit elsewhere”
When it comes down to any business, it’s all about maximizing your profit. I don’t blame Nintendo for increasing units to Europe, nor do I hold any ill-will towards the decision. For people who are left wanting a Wii Fit, should just blame the shortage to bad economical timing. The dollar will eventually strengthen, barring any un-forseen disaster. Hopefully the next shipment of Wii Fits will see a stronger dollar, therefore a better ratio for Wii Fit units shipped.
http://www.vgzero.com/thread-15007-post-291648.html
According to Victor Godinez of dallasnews.com, the real culprit behind the shortage of Wii consoles in the Americas is the weak US Dollar. With realistic fears of an economic recession looming in the USA, Nintendo are currently making much higher profits from selling Wii in Europe. In the last year, the value of €1 (Euro Currency) has rocketed from $1.35 all the way to $1.51.
In an interview with GameStop analyst Michael Pachter, Godinez asked how an economic slowdown might affect the availability of the Wii. Pachter claims that Nintendo are behaving "perfectly rationally" in their marketing strategy, that is, sending extra numbers of Wii consoles to Europe in order to "satisfy the more profitable consumers there". But as the demand for Nintendo products in Europe is now reaching a plateau stage, surplus systems should find themselves steadily filtering into the American market.
An explanation on the source website explains all these economics rather well:
With a weak dollar, foreign companies that sell their goods in the U.S. for dollars and then convert those dollars to their native currencies get a smaller profit than if they sell their products in countries with strong currencies of their own (such as Europe with the Euro). In other words, Nintendo makes a bigger profit on Wiis sold in Europe than on Wiis sold in the U.S.
It is a reasonable assumption that Nintendo may be waiting furthermore for the US Dollar to stabilize itself once again; which may just happen as European demand for Wii starts its levelling-out phase. Opinions as always in the forum.
Also in the same predicament are the RTS G1 legends assortment. Whether or not these will hit the shelves in the U.S. is up for debate. This is the exact same mix of ingredients that happened to the Transformers Universe G1 legends assortment the came out before the first Transformers movie in 2006. Many collectors reported never seeing them at retail. Will this happen again?
This is purely speculation based on the availble facts.

Don't Blame Hasbro, blame the suppliers that actually sell their wares.
Although I DO blame Hasbro for short-packing Windcharger in cases of 8. Seriously, WTF?

This is just not true. These figures have in fact been released to the US market. One has to assume, in fact, that the larger retailers (Wal-Mart) have just stopped ordering this stuff in anticipation of upcoming movie product, much the same way they fall off at the tail end of any line. So much of their inventory will be tied up in movie product that they can't sell until street date hits, that they are happy to sell out existing product on the pegs, and not worry about refreshing until the next planogram hits. In other words, the problem isn't just Hasbro's fault, but also the Big Three toy retailers for being too big to pay attention to particular assortment mixes.
I say that these figures have been released to US retail because they shipped through Diamond Comics Distributors to your local comic shop (also known as "Channel Six," in retail terms), if they carry them. We currently have all the G1 Legends (OP, Megs, Starscream, Trail"cutter", Gold Bumblebee, and Prowl) in stock at my store, but have long since sold out the more desirable Windchargers. For those of you still looking for these pieces, my advice is to try your LCS to see if they have anything left. I suppose it's likely these toys could also show up at other Channel Six retailers, places you wouldn't usually look for toys, like Kohl's, or drug stores, or some such. Good luck guys, and happy hunting!

my other reasoning is that if scouts were really dead hasbro wouldnt be making such a push with this new "cyberverse" incarnation with you guessed it scout size figures.my guess and ill stick to it is that theyll release these last figures in the movie line.
personally im not feeling wincharger but i sympathize with those who want him.

HFTD line really messed stuff up with all the excess stock. If it dissapeared we wouldn't have this problem.

Most of you will, I still have barely wave 2 of the PCC the wave one has been here for forever, and the stupid Chromia repaints and Skids repaints are still on shelves. Along with them is barely ANY generations figures in the first place i was lucky to get my Drift, which was already opened and missing the 2 short swords. =_=
Edit: Sorry, the amount of rage rushing through my veins makes me wanna bash my head into every darn store manager I know.

Maybe if there werent so many damn sea attack ravages out there there wouldnt be a problem.

Exactly. This is about stores ordering too much slow-moving HFTD stock and then wanting to skip these waves in favor of DOTM. Hasbro deserves some of the blame because of crappy wave assortments and misjudging how well certain items would sell. But it's not all them. And this always seems to happen before a movie line, unfortunately.
Ironically, I anticipated this happening in Canada so I preordered nearly all of my RTS/Generations figs, but I'm still out of luck for Rumble & Frenzy. They'll sell them eventually though, if they already produced them. It's just a question of when.

if anyone else is wanting one like mkall just send me a PM.
within a 15 min drive of my house i have a toys R us, a large Tescos(gets Target stuff) and Asda(gets Wall*mart stuff) as well as a smyths toy shop
i wont charge any major commission just the total cost of the item and P+P rounded up a little
so if wincharger cost say £12, packaging £3 and postage £5 (£18) i will ask for £20. does that sound fair ?
of course it all depends if i can find some first
if anyone wants a reference before parting with their cash PM Naked Magnus

So someone in the states has them available, but you're gonna pay almost twice the price, except for Windcharger, who's going for 70 bucks...
70 dollars, for a scout class toy that's normally, what, 8 dollars? Someone's makin out big time, if they can find anyone to buy them...

TRU: They only have a small fraction of 'new' Tformers. (I saw 1 Kup and 1 Scourge just yesterday). Everything else is stuff that they obviously overstocked on somehow. For example, the TRU I was in had like 9-10 'Ultimate' Bumblebees from ROTF, and 10 Battle Hook Optimus Prime figures. The shelves are also stuffed with multi figure box sets (like Rumble in the Ruins and Gathering on the Nemesis) that just aren't moving. As far as Deluxe figures go, they had no new scouts, NO voyager figures at all. However, they DID have like 20 'Electrostatic Jolt' figures along with 20-ish Skid and Mudflap figures. In short - they seem to have been given tons of shelf warmer figures that nobody wants. Well, at least it will LOOK like they have plenty of Tformer figures....
K-Mart: The local Kmart stores I've been in lately haven't had anything new on the shelves in 2-3 months. Since the holidays, they seem to have had no new shipments. To their credit, they were one of the ONLY stores in which I found a Highbrow voyager. Granted I didn't want him, but still... I was in Kmart just the other day and their shelves are now almost totally empty of Deluxe figures. Like TRU, they have PLENTY of Battle Hook Optimus and 4-5 ROTF Ultimate Bumblebees, which are pretty much guaranteed to never go anywhere. K-Mart charges more for their toys. But generally, they get them before other stores (when they get them at all). So I'm keeping an eye out....
Target: Another store that (generally) gets figures before other stores, and one where I've been visiting and keeping an eye on. Right now, they have tons of Generations figures, Cyberton Soundwave, Cliffjumper, Megatron. They also have TONS of 'Skullgrin' repaints of Darkmount. Mixed in is smattering of newer RTS figures. According to the clerk I spoke with, they have a stash of toys they 'keep in back'. When one or two on the shelf get sold, they pull out a few to replace them. Seems a silly way to do it. I wish they'd just let me paw through their boxes to see what they've got that they're not sharing. But who knows what they're holding out? Could be they have a stash of Windchargers/Lugnuts that they're just not sharing because they still have 4-5 'Banzaiatron' and 'hubcap' figures on the shelf.
Wal-mart: Like TRU, Wal-mart seems to have been stiffed with tons of figures, but they're figures that nobody wants. The last few weeks I've visited, I've seen only the same array of leftover ROTF deluxe figures (and the 3D glasses Prime preview). They also have a bunch of 'Banzaitron' figures, and I haven't seen any new voyager figures in months.
So SOMETHING has been going on since the holidays last year. US stores haven't been getting the figures as fast. Is it the economy? Could be. I'll still be haunting the stores, because like many, I'd rather not shop online if I can just drive by a store and find the figure on the shelf.
Will 'the economy' get better? Not the way things are being run. I just hope I can find Lugnut, Warpath, Rumble and a few other RTS/Generations figures before things get any worse. I couldn't care less about the movie figures. Since movie1, they've been a waste.

Put it on the Hasbro Toy Store website.
I mean seriously if they have these things just sitting around and not sending to the retailers then they should just put them on the Hasbro store. Just to get rid of them.

I nabbed it from HTS, and when I realized I had just paid $15 (with shipping) for a scout, I went back and ordered several more items, including a second Windcharger ... but by the time I hit the checkout button on the second order, they were already sold out.
Suddenly that $15 seemed really cheap!

I did manage to snag a g2 OP at Hasbro Toy Store, but damn at the shipping price. This is one reason I don't buy online, but when it's either that or see store after store week after week with absolutely no restocking being done other than at one point Rodimus/Cyclonus 2pks and DOTM Preview Prime showed up, but otherwise those exact same damn HFTD's I don't want, never wanted, never will want hanging from the shelves mocking me.
HTS was out of Wreck Gar and Perceptor, so looks like I'll never get those. And now I guess Windcharger gets added to the "forget it, never gonna happen" list. I don't even want to think about Thundercraker and Wheeljack.
It wouldn't be so bad, if I didn't know that in just about a month or so, the shelves will be filled with stuff for DOTM, which I don't care about. I know, it'll sell, and it'll make them money and yadda yadda business blah blah, but I have just about had it with this whole situation.

I want it at least at HTS but what happens there is the scalpers all buy those up too to gauge those who don't like to order from online sites. I myself had an issue with HTS double billing me but I would gladly go thru that again to get a Windcharger.
This simply is not true. This figure was only available on HTS for 20 minutes with a limit of one per order. That said, how would a scalper know it was only going to be available for 20 minutes making the figure at $16 a piece (after shipping) still a highly profitable venture? Second, even if the scalper was that intuitive, HTS cancels multiple purchases of the same figure even when they're ordered separately...so these hypothetical scalpers would have to have had multiple HTS accounts, each going to a different address, each paid with a different credit card, all hoarded in 20 minutes time. In other words, HIGHLY unlikley scalping was the issue here.
