Nice to see the stand can still work for the bot mode. However, is it mandatory? I wonder if he can do some nice poses and stand on his own? Guess we will have to wait to find out.

As for the backpack, eh it could be worst. That perfectly ROUND planet mode have to go somewhere.

I have Armada Unicron (with Throne of Chaos) and "Amazon" Unicron. But I never expected that my 3rd Unicron would be this crazy GIANT thing!
I mean, damn, it is a few dollars above CAN900$ for me, factoring shipping and taxes. At that's the regular normal, non-scalper price. At least compared to Optimus 3.0, I will have LOTS of bot for my bucks!

If you look closely, it looks like the bulkiness of the backpack is being exacerbated by the fact it's lifted up to make room for the stand to plug in, without the stand I'd imagine it'd fold down at least a bit more.

With regards to the stand, I don't think the final figure will need the stand to stand up in robot mode, it's just that this is a prototype that is probably less sturdy and less finished than the final figure, and it's displayed where hundreds if not thousands of people will be walking around near it constantly vibrating the ground, so it needs support to stay standing.

Yup. I think that's probably it and also why he's in such a static pose.

It does look that way but who puts there toys on shelf facing wall unless you have 360 turn table , put toy as center piece middle of room lol at it all angles back pack isn’t much important I will defiantly like to see this get made for people but as time frame they gave us fans preorder him be made I don’t see them making there goal 44 days left there not half way to there goal I will defiantly like to be wrong

My serious side wish for the campaign to fail so I don't have to spend that CAN900$+ on Unicron.

But my frosty side want him to succeed so that I can have a GOD at home.

So finally chiming in, even if unicron is in my top 3 fave characters, I find myself feeling nothing towards this figure; even if I had the money and patience, I have so many important memories towards the armada figure being my first 'big' purchase as a child that I could never replace it in my heart; but this thing definitely rocks

Oh, rest assured, even if I were to scrounge up the money for this bad boy, I wouldn't be replacing either my Armada or Amazon Unicrons. In fact, I'd actually like to get my hands on both the Energon and Takara 2010 Unicrons and have all four Supreme class Unicrons in robot mode positioned underneath this Unicron in planet mode as though they were all trying to hold up this big one like so:

i realyl can't help but feel they could've handled the kibble better. having a big ol' bugshell on his back and legs makes his look worse than the armada guy. that being said, he still looks increadible, and goddamn do i wish i could get him.

I have to admit I was skeptical of the price, but I just saw this thing in person at Comic-Con. It is absolutely massive. I don't think the images on HasbroPulse do it justice. My first impressions were in this order:

1. Where is anyone going to have the space to display him? The planetoid part of his alt mode is slightly larger than a basketball and the ring clears the surface by about four inches. The stand is huge, and it has to be. I can see why it weighs 19 lbs.

2. Why couldn't they have made him about 2/3 the size? This is probably due to the Armada version already being out there and HasTak wanted something that is more of a spectacle.

3. $574 dollars does not seem that exorbitant now that I have seen it in person. I think it is fair, but you get what you pay for. A positively gargantuan toy.

Well here's a question: Since he is in the crowdfunding stages and they seem to have only made 4 prototypes (2 gray and 2 colored) would that be an unreasonable expectation to add on before full on production swing? Would that significantly increase the production cost if that were to be shoehorned in at this point? Is it even worth it with the old Cybertron head floating around in places. Should we expect the inside chomper to be painted silver/gray. These are important things that I don't really need to know but would like to anyways.

UPDATE: I've seen this masterpiece of engineering in person.THIS IS A MUST HAVE. Considering the adult collectors out there who don't have an issue spending a pretty heavy chunk of change on 1/6 scale Hot Toys figures (almost half the price of WFC Siege Unicorn), or plenty of people who don't mind spending more than double the price of this latest effort by Haslab on Sideshow Collectibles Maquettes and other statues that don't offer any articulation, you are pretty much getting the best of both worlds. I own a few of the aforementioned items including the Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime Maquette so I get it. There are high end collectors in the fandom that don't mind spending a few extra bucks just to get what they want. but trust me when I say that photos do this thing NO justice. It is a work of art and the toy you've always wanted if you're a fan of the '86 movie. After the success of the Jabba's Sale Barge I don't think the collectors that have it in their budget to do so should pass up on this opportunity that has been 33 years in the making. I saw the thing in grey scale and it was awesome. He's even more epic in appearance and scale in planet mode in person. That may be the way I display him. I understand those that are taken aback by the price, but if you're a collector and a fan of the franchise I'm sure there are some figures and collectibles that you have been considering selling off. Might as well do it now to supplement the cost. Just my humble opinion.

Also, you may have some pretty expensive treasures hidden. Look carefully. In your retro games collection too. Some things can now sell for a premium on Ebay. Also, those damn Magic cards. Money that sleep.

I did all of those things and 1000$ can be made surprisingly fast!

I'm heavily leaning towards getting this figure, the only thing keeping me from completely tipping over is the face, more accurately the mouth, teeth and chin. They're just not right, to me anyway. Unicron just didn't look like that. Maybe it's a small thing, but I plan on displaying him mostly in robot mode, if I do get it, and a completely accurate detail is the tops, for that money.

It's his lacking a proper beard that look off.

The mouth can at least close to hide those teeth, but the giant chin instead of a beard is definitely wrong.

That I did, then I looked around my room and decided a more accurate subtitle is "Destroyer of Mortgages".

This is a horse I can't hitch my wagon to, but be damned if I'm not going enjoy watching it stroll by. Can't wait to follow Unicron though production and see more completed pics. What they did with Jabba's barge was pretty amazing.

Off topic; I agree with others and hope that HasLab doesn't stay limited to just big expensive things. Accessory packs and obscure characters would be cool too. And I'll double down on that Ark playset that Cobo mentioned. If they're going keep going big I want to see playsets and dioramas.

I also wish they hadn't made a "compromise chin". He was clean shaven in ONE sequence. ONE. In every other scene and in plenty of other materials he had his forked beard.

If they felt his chin needed a clean shaven look I'd have preferred a removable chin that you could switch out.

I think this is this project's biggest flaw. I don't think it'll change. The pricy thing is still ... awfully tempting to me, though.

What's worse is that the gray preproduction model HAD the two-point beard!

With fan feedbacks, small details may still change.

Gotta be honest, the "divorce class" gags gave me a good chuckle, even as someone whose parents are going through a rather ugly divorce. Shame some people didn't seem to think so.

So, we now have an answer for why the figure has a big chin instead of a beard.

David Willis asked Phillip Donnelly to ask John Warden on the SDCC floor about the lack of a proper pointy beard, and the answer given was that, due to the transformation, the pointy beard would have had to have been made out of rubber, which would have caused problems.

So, this non-pointy beard-length chin was a conscious decision made after some troubleshooting.

And they couldn't include one even as a clip-on accessory because...?

I guess for over $500 people want that beard lol!! So this whole production based on the price X number of backers is $4.4 Million which is almost the enitre budget of what it costs to make the '86 Movie. Man inflation is a mutha....Well it wouldnt be the first time I spent that much for a figure well not a Transformer. Then come to think of it Soul of Chogokin GX line still has cheaper options with quality. Overall I like the presence but I already have SoC GX-88 for Preorder and that was $330 so my wallet is rated for regular release toys until that time. I do like it kibble, no beard, the whole 9 but I dont do crowd funding with all the money Hasbro has or Pulse or who ever Hasbro affiliate you put it up for sale and I will buy it. Consumers need to take their power back and make these corporations pony up that R&D and make it happen.

For those who find that 27" tall, 19lbs heavy TRANSFORMING Unicron expensive at 575$US, here's a little something to put things in perspective.
