I like him, but I only recently have kinda wanted to get him. I think it would be a better option to get the guy I have been wanting for a year now. That being: Platinum Supreme Starscream. I like Predaking, but he seems to be hard to keep together and such. He is more of a shelf piece, whereas SSS is more playable. Also, SS is for about 80 USD on BBTS currently. Best deal on him I could find for a while.
When it comes to opportunity cost, I feel that the one I want more is the one I should get, rather than the one everyone likes more. Also, the original version of Supreme Starscream came out about the time I first learned about Transformers, which was around 2004 to 2006. Cybertron toys are really nostalgic to me, even though I hate the show.
I hear you. However I want to dispell some things you may have read:
1. Pedaking sticks well together.
2. Supreme Starscream is not more playable. He does not pose well. Both have abut the same amount of articulation. Supreme Starscream has the worst articulation among all Supreme TF toys. If you want that toy, you are better off finding a complete original second hand, they do not sell for a lot.
3. Both are as much shelfpieces. However you can pose predaking combined, all robot modes or beast modes, or a mix.

You couldnt get him last year when he came out for 60$. I dont remember but there arent any trus in your area right?Kurona wrote:If the only way to complete the trio of Prowl, Smokescreen and Bluestreak in CW was by getting a Platinum set when the other two were retail, that'd be insane and ridiculous.
I hear you but I dont find it any more ridiculous than a platinum set being the only way to get a voyager grimlock in the RID line, a line that is made for kids and parents who wouldnt think to buy a platinum set

Arms, waist and head, no? And I am pretty sure Tantrum has more articulated arms. However when it comes to his legs, yeah he has better articulation. However, I do not think he has greater playability based on this higher integer in articulation. That was my main point.

At this point it's to be expected, but I can't believe that they actually sell enough of these at retail price to be able to keep churning them out.

The first thing I think when I see these come out, I like it, I'll wait for a sale.
Can anybody think of a Platy that sold out at full price?

Yes, in Canada the Platinum Dinobots sold out at full price. I did buy them on sale (of course!) but they still had some in stock after the black firday sale and sold out at full price.
Also, Target does boost the prices of their platinum editions when they go on sale, making the sale useless. That happened last year with one of the set (I forget which one, probably the coneheads).

YotS Omega, at least temporarily. YotH OP, Bruticus/Grimlock FoC set, Platinum Blaster/Perceptor (very temporarily, but it was shown as "Sold Out" through its official distribution channel for a time), I think that's all. This doesn't account for localized/one-off/storewide sales. I could also be wrong about this, but it really isn't important.Cobotron wrote:You know what? I think all the AOE sets sold out. In my town "Breakout Battle", "Autobots United", and "Dinobots Unleashed" all disappeared fast.william-james88 wrote:Yes, in Canada the Platinum Dinobots sold out at full price. You know, these were online only here in the US, but I think Breakout Battle was the only one that moved at regular price. Autobots United sold out quick, but only after HTS put it on clearance then had a 20% off coupon hit a couple weeks later. Dinobots Unleashed got clearanced hard by BBTS, one of its official channels for distribution.shajaki wrote:In my town "Breakout Battle", "Autobots United", and "Dinobots Unleashed" all disappeared fast.
Ya, I scooped the Dinos Unleashed for 50% off from BBTS around Xmas time last year.ScottyP wrote:You know, these were online only here in the US, but I think Breakout Battle was the only one that moved at regular price. What I find funny is that the only ones that actually sold well are the ones supposedly hated (generally speaking) by the fandomCobotron wrote:Ya, I scooped the Dinos Unleashed for 50% off from BBTS around Xmas time last year.ScottyP wrote:You know, these were online only here in the US, but I think Breakout Battle was the only one that moved at regular price. I guess my perspective on the Platinums is skewed because all the set's I've bought have been at a discount.
