Articulating KO Devastator (pic heavy)

Postby Klusterprime » Mon Nov 19, 2007 9:22 pm

After seeing Tom_Servo start on Articulating Devastator he Inspired me to try thanks Tom :D , I had a yellow KO devastator and some lego parts, I use a nice ball and socket from the lego, I cut them down to help keep things tighter, my goal was to do this and not change the hight or width of devastator.
So far this is where I am at.
Upper leg elbows and shoulders all have ball and socket.
I use a perfect grade gundam hands that I made recastings from for this, made from hard resin that I tinted black, all fingers Articulate.
Still need a little detailing but you get the idea :D .

very cool.

what paint did you use to give him that nice new green? did you glue any of the bot parts together to stop them falling apart/moving?

thanks.

Just so I can make him flip off Prime, I gotta try making one of these!

Looking good! I can't believe that I'm actually inspiring people now! The funny part is that I'm still tinkering with mine, and here you are almost done. I'm honored and humbled at the same time.
I'm knocked out that you actually cast those hands yourself! I do a bit of casting myself, but I've never done anything that detailed.
Do all of the Constructicons still transform?

I wish I had a few sets of those hands. Do you know a good source for molding rubber? What kind do you use? Your bash looks real good so far.

microclone Asked what paint did you use to give him that nice new green? did you glue any of the bot parts together to stop them falling apart/moving?

The Paint is tamiya I custom mix to get the color I was after
Before I did this mod I had glued the KO so it would not keep falling apart, after this mod nothing really need glue
this will be devastator no other mode for me
all the arms and legs do pop off.

I would not have tinker with it if it was not for your post thank you.
Casting the hands was a chore each finger has 3 segments
and theres a posable thumb
this being a KO I long have forgotten the Constructicons it is now devastator forever :P

Why is Scavenger mis-transformed? Is it because of the difference in length of the arms? Poor scrapper! It looks like he couldn't hold up under the pressue. I love the paint job and the hands are awesome. I'd love to cast some of those myself if I knew how! Great work man, I love me some Devastator customs.

Motto: "Ker-Klick... Choom!"
Weapon: Black Magic
That looks great! :D
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Articulated Devs while keeping his proportions. This is what the others have been lacking. They always made him look like he was going anorexic. But here he is in all his devastating glory! Very nicely done. Now, pack him up and ship him to me. :P
