I've just got a copy of this on eBay, but I'm having no luck in getting it to work. I'm running Windows 7, and i've changed the compatability mode to display in windows 98, but still no joy. :BANG_HEAD:
Does anyone know if this will still work on modern PCs, and if so how?
Or have I just wasted my money?
I now have a Youtube review channel. Please check it out, any feedback or criticism is greatly appreciated.

Wasted your money. It's a 16 bit program. Most programs are 32 bit, these days, and now going 64. (This is to take full power and capability from the processors of today.)

Compatibility mode won't do you any good. What you need is a processor and version of Windows that's capable of letting you run Windows XP in virtual mode. It's like having a computer within a computer. In that virtual computer, you should be able to run Beast Wars.

Or, if you have an older PC that's capable of running Windows 98, just do a fresh install, then install the game and use it just for that: Gaming.

Other than that, I'm not sure how else you can get it to play on today's tech.

No go buddy. But it still does have its uses. You can put it in you CD player and listen to the soundtrack. (Skip track one. That is a horrible sound.)

Other then that, get a PSX and get Beast Wars AND Transmetals.

You can use it as a CD and listen to music? Wow, I need to dig my copy out then.

As for the topic at hand, yea you waisted your money, even if you had the tech to actually play it it would have been a waste, because the game is sh*t. I bought it back when it was new and thought it not only looked ugly, but also played ugly. It was bad for the standards back then and will be unplayable by today's standards.

You can only hear the level music (track 4 is awesome), and the songs are about a minute 20 a piece. I wonder if you can do that with other PC games.

You can with any CD-based Game that uses Redbook CD Audio, consoles like the SEGA-CD included. In fact, I suggest using Windows Media Player to play the music itself, not only because it skips the No.0/No.1 Data Track automatically (basically any track that's not recognised), but also to effectively rip the music onto your hard drive.

As a warning, do NOT use a standard CD player. I've heard of one instance of speakers literally blowing because of the Data Track being played as if it was music.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

It's true. Data tracks will blow speakers. They emit high and low frequencies at rapid rates and speakers (or at least certain kinds) can't handle that change and they pop. Yeah, you can ruin a good pair of speakers doing that.

I was not aware of that. But I make it a point to skip track one anyway because it is an ungodly racket.

Sorry for digging this thread back up. Could someone rip the audio from the Beast Wars PC game? I have most of them from YouTube, but not the Character select music.
Thanks,
Ice
