Being one of the people who couldn't dream to afford the Primus Package for Botcon this year, I decided to make my own Evil Prime. I got a great deal on a loose complete Prime on ebay and began painting today, the day I got him.

This is my second attempt at a repaint. The first is a hopeless WIP G1 version movie Prime. Hopeless cuz my wife lost the screws to put him back together.

Well anyway, here are the first pics of him getting the "evil" purple treatment.









The red in this one is covered now.

Update:

I now know why Nemesis Prime is such a popular repaint. Black is awesome. It goes on so easy and looks so good. I will definately be doing a NP/Scourge repaint once I complete this one.

The grill looks uneven to give it the worn look. The paint is freshly applied in these so the shine is a little excessive.


I tried my darndest to take this guy apart but I don't have the tools necessary, so painting is going in steps


Trying to get good detail everywhere, I cant stress how much I like doing the black.

I think this is a good idea but I just dont like that shade of purple needs to be a little darker purple othyerwise nice work cant wait to see it finished

I compared it to printed pics of Botcon Prime and this shade is actually darker. I may go with a darker shade as this one isn't really menacing to me, but its real close to the original shade which is the plan.

Yes. Its actually more of a whethered look. I've been studying pics of him on ebay auctions and such. I put the black as a base and will do a dry brush dark grey to light grey over them.

My only real concern is the Autobot symbols on the sides in alt mode.

Looking good dude! Yea the bot symbols will be a pain.
I hope this turns out real good man, would be a shame if it wouldn't.

I have decided to get one from ebay, I just love this mold.

Nearing the final phases of the repaint now. Got some detail in with the weathering but still have some touch ups to do.



With this one, the grill almost looks like a fog covering it, like it was spray painted more than painted, so I went with a darker grey to give a weathered old look.



This pic sucks cuz of the glare but I was trying to get a closeup of the head and chest.



The legs are more of a pain than I anticipated. Ive seen multiple pics of Prime and still cant tell if some parts are weathered or if its just glare. So I went with this.



Making metallic gold paint outta primary colors is next to impossible. I added a dash of silver to get the gleam look that you really cant see here. The windshield will be a challenge as it has to go from blue to a brownish color. Theres something I can use to paint the windshields but I dont remember what it is, if you can help me with this Id be very appreciative.



Same deal here with the windows, but this was fun to do.
And finally....


I used the smallest brush I had and Til all are gone still came out too big. Im just gonna leave it that way as I doubt I'll get it any better and Im happy with it.



Hopefully the next post will be the completed product.

If you want to retain the translucent effect your best bet would be to tie dye.

But if you've never done that before now is not the good time to start unless you do a LOT of practice before hand.

That looks promising. I just wish was darker though.
