Yes, yes and yes! I need at least two of f those guys. Still on the Percy fence, but he just keeps looking awrsomer and awesomer. RTS looks the part but is a fiddly pain with big legs. I just might need a microscope man.

Kup has looked awesome to me from the first time I saw him, so I don't know what the fuss is about. He's a buy on site and I'm glad to hear ya speak so highly of him. He looks like a truck load of fun. Hell I even like the grey Tak version.

Topspin looks great as well and another BoS. My Wreckers need numbers. Am I crazy or did I not see a pic of that backpack. :-?

Crazysexycool pics and fun to boot just don't go chasing waterfalls

 great point and I'm going say no. Follow up question: What makes them so great? Is it just the transformation/mold? Is it that these are characters we haven't gotten in a while? Is there more creative wiggle room in the B or C team bots for the designers?

Hey! I'm not cray just misspelled :-x :-P

Also, booster boots ftw and spin that top around and show me your back...pack ;)^

I have all sorts of mushroom peg disconnect issues across the various lines. I just snap em back in place and move on. I've found that sometimes just pushing them all the way and rotatimg them back and forth sets the peg in and removes flashing that is causing issues, but sometimes just just like to pop out :(

When it comes to truly fantastic figures, I find, you can't just nail down one amazing trait; it's a combination of many good little things to create a beautiful whole. Transformation, creativity, sleek jet modes, great-looking robots; even details like Triggerhappy's guns flipping forwards over his hands can really push a figure over from a 7 to a 9 :)

Perceptor

You know what? At first I wasn't that impressed with Big P, but the more I played with him and ran him through his modes, the more I liked him. Especially one mode in particular. He is the weakest of the these three, but still has a lot of fun packed in. His transformation is simple and not that unlike his G1 self.

My favorite mode though
The tank.
It's awesome that they bothered to work this mode in. It's not in the instructions, but it works, and it's meant to be there. It makes so much sense for Titans Return.
I've heard some problems about him tabbing together in either alt mode, but mine works well in both.

Yeah,I too was a bit dissapointed in him. Well not dissapointed, but he was more ho hum than the rest, kinda like a lot of the 30th annviersary line. But unlike you I never bounced back into liking him that much and I am not fond of that tank mode because they didnt go the extra mile to replicate his actual tank mode. Instead the way they have the wheel and the tabs, its that mobile laboratory mode with the tank cannon and his arms more in the air. I much preffer the diaclone tank from g1 where his arms are paralel to his feet and everything fits together perfectly and looks like an actual tank.

I have a couple of questions about this guy that I have been wiating for someone to have him to answer for me. He has this extra silver flap on his chest (under the clear window). What is it for? And what is the purpose of his chest detaching all the way to his scrotum? What does it add that I can extend it so far out, I dont really se the added playability. He feels like there were a lot of ideas playing of eachother all at once and nothing really coming together, kinda like Universe Galvatron.

Kup's transformation is out of sight! It's cool to see this TF PRime level of panel forming again. The way his legs fold up is great. It all tabs together and holds tight. His mid section accordions up and tabs together solidly. It's the right level of moving parts, but fun and satisfying.
There are some little tab tricks that seem like they could easily fail. Like using the pin holes his hands pivot on as peg holes when his arms fold behind him. It works though thanks to the presicion of C.A.D.

Hell yeah! His legs are freaken awesome! Are you having difficulty sticking his titan master in the cockpit?

But wait til y'all get a load of his arm transformation. Really smart. Really cool.

Told you! Its the best arm transformation I have seen in the gen line so far. Its just so efficient and perfect. Like everything was calculated to fit perfectly.

You know, while I am totally on board with that, I think Kup is my favourite figure so far just because of that leg transformation. New and ingenius transformations are the biggest selling point to this hobby and Kup has the best example of that this year so far. I dont like his look or colours, and I wont even use him in my season 3 photos, but I still love playing with him.

carytheone wrote: Am I crazy or did I not see a pic of that backpack. :-?

it wasnt shown much in images so far. You would have had to watch video reviews to see it.

I personally dont like it. You have this perfect angular space just asking for those two needlenoses to line up against but instead they go the other way and leave you with gaps in his back.

Kurona wrote:I wonder if anyone expected to walk into this line of Headmasters to find Triggerhappy and Topspin being the best Deluxes?

I was sure it would be the case. The headmasters were the most straightforward updates. but with the other toys, you now had a totally different dynamic going on. Without the need to hide the head you could have new inventive transformations for these characters. And thats just the case here.

But I would add Blurr and Kup to that debate of the best deluxes.

Geez that was a read and a rush! Nice pics as always cobro. You never fail to disappoint take some awesome pictures! (edited due to incompetency on my part)

I look forward to the wave 4 guys. Save Broadside, they all look fantastic and I think Quake is the only one from the wave I won't be getting.

I cannot wait for Topspin. He looks amazing and he will look great with my Wreckers shelf, and Twintwist will look amazing beside him. Kup may go to the Wreckers shelf as well, and that's where RTS Seaspray will head too. Perceptor will look great on the Lost Light shelf too.

But really, Topspin, Sky shadow, and Kup are the 3 figures I most look forward to, and these pictures really make that Topspin/Kup desire even stronger

Darn it Cobotron, now I'm sold on Kup. It helps that Takara's doesn't look very good to me at all. Not sure if he'll replace the original Generations Kup.

I'm still probably going to get Perceptor despite the flaws just because he looks so good. Topspin still looks cool but the back gaps are starting to bug me a little.

Especially since there are actual pieces of this toy that could fit there nicely and fill it out instead of sticking the other way.

By the way Cobo, I will be newsing some of these pics. Since our galleries are on hiatus we dont have any comparison shots to the G1 figures yet and I think its important to show just how dedicated Hasbro was to their homage (unlike another company who will not be named). So if you can, could you take more shots of G1 and TR Kup in alt mode from the front, back and overhead? I will add them to the article.

Also, when I was talking about perceptor's tank mode earlier, I was referring to this one, which is incredible:

OK Billy! Let's talk.

william-james88 wrote: He has this extra silver flap on his chest (under the clear window). What is it for?
Best I can tell, it is there solely to be a a control panel for tank mode. It also adds a little detail and breaks up all that red when you look through the clear tray in bot mode.

Willie Jammer wrote:And what is the purpose of his chest detaching all the way to his scrotum?
SCROTUM?! I barely know 'em!
I haven't the slightest. Like you kinda said, maybe there were some other ideas that they abandoned and they didn't bother to clean it up. Or maybe it's pretooling for something else?

Billy Jim Cakes on Kup wrote:Hell yeah! His legs are freaken awesome! Are you having difficulty sticking his titan master in the cockpit?
At first yes, but before you tab in the leg/side panels, fold down the nose of the truck. Press his feet in there, fold the nose back up and close everything around him.

Did you like my comment about his transformation about TF Prime level of panel-forming? something I didn't really appreciate until I spent time rapping with you so many years ago now. ;)^

Oh for sure, but it could have just been paint and not an actual flap, that was what confused me. Every piece is more strain on the budget and that could have gone elsehwere.

I really loved it, I even used that when I replied to Kanrabat in the Toy haul Thread. Glad you got around to appreciating it, its my favourite type of transformation. When you reuse a part differently turning it into a different shape. It always gives you a sleeker bot mode with less kibble and adds to the idea that the bot and his disguise are one and the same.

I dont mean to bring you down. The deal with this guy is that I never owned the G1 toy so those colours dont mean much to me. I know Kup mainly from stuff like this:

Image

or this:

Image

And when I mean those, I literally mean those images. Thats how I know Kup and thats what I try to replicate. The TR one just doesnt fit there. Colours are too flashy and the head is grey and not teal. I never knew Kup to look like the TR toy so he isnt really Kup to me.

I think the gen kup reminds me more of these Kups below:

Image

Since I dont know the G1 toy, to me, getting this TR kup is like getting G2 Menasor instead of him in his original colours.

You guys say you'd add Blurr to the competition of best TR Deluxe... but would you substitute him for Brainstorm, exclusivity excluded? I've heard quite a few people say that while Blurr is fantastic, Brainstorm's better.

I wouldnt. That mold works way better as a car, especially with how it rolls. So it has great wheels instead of landing gear. Plus you get a shield instead of detachable guns which is more in line with Blurr than Brainstorm. It also has a way shorter nose than I would like, it doesnt extend as much from the main body as it should for a sleek front end.

Jus to say that it works far better for Blurr than Brainstorm.

I feel that Brainstorm wears the mold better. The retooling and deco just works better, like the shorter bits that cover the hands are less noticeable in bot mode. It also doesn't hurt that BS was an actual headmaster either.

While the mold is nice and sleek and a joy to transform the pseudo partsforming bit annoys me just a little. I do like that you can just leave it on or have a shield/weapon though.

While it is a good mold and my fist entry into TR I wouldn't put Blurr in as one of the best.

Sure. It could have been paint, but it is there only for the tank mode, which is why it's odd that they'd just not mention that mode at all. they obviously put time, effort, and dedicated parts into it. Odd. 8-}

I'd bet that out of the 3 new molds in wave 4, Perceptor came in under budget. The execs were probably like, PARTY! So, they didn't waste any more resources removing any extraneous parts. "If it's under budget, and we can save a few money dollars, leave it be. Send it to the factory. PRINT IT!"

Since I dont know the G1 toy, to me, getting this TR kup is like getting G2 Menasor instead of him in his original colours.

You know your not really bringing me down. Just my sarcasm at work.
Those are all great examples and I except your argument. And you know, personally I like it better when Kup's helmet is the sane color as his body. Except when the dome of his helmet is the grey of his face (like the Takara version). It makes him look like a bald guy wearing Greeco-Roman wrestling ear gaurds.
