Chapter One: The Price of Freedom

The dimly lit metallic corridor to the Autobot High Council chamber had seen many Decepticons as of late. With his Wounds from the Battle of Athenia still not completely sealed, the Decepticon scientist Darkstorm strides into the great chamber, bound in chains with guards close behind. As he entered the chamber, his cold, blood red optics caught a glimpse of the Autobots who would be deciding whether he would be imprisoned for his crimes against Cybertron or not. Prowl, the Autobot military strategist, Springer, the Commander of the Wreckers Squadron, Rodimus Prime, the Leader of the Autobots, Kup, the military Commander, and Perceptor, the Autobot Director of Military Science. It was Perceptor that DarkStorm hated the most. It was Perceptor, above anyone else, who DarkStorm considered his Intellectual equal, and that, above all else, was why Darkstorm despised him.

"DarkStorm, do you know why you were brought before this council?" Perceptor said.

the Decepticon Scientist stood silent for a few moments and then said," I would imagine it is because my Command made a foolish mistake in allowing you peace-loving pieces of slag to defeat us at Athenia."

DarkStorm's comment did not move the stolid council. It was Springer who spoke up first," You are charged with willfully assisting in the attempt to concur and enslave the Universe by the Decepticon Empire. This is an offense that is punishable by Spark extraction and and permanent incarceration. Do you understand these charges?"

"To the Best of my Limitless intelligence," the arrogant Decepticon proclaimed.

"Ordinarily, we would forgo these proceedings based on your history throughout this conflict, in your case, we are offering to make you a deal," said the old Autobot Kup.

"We are prepared to offer you amnesty if you agree to give us important information regarding some of your former comrades," said Prowl.

"And that information would be?" said DarkStorm.

"Of all of the Decepticons that still remain at large, General Deathsaurus and Sweep Commander Scourge are the most dangerous. If you have any information about their ware abouts, we will grant you amnesty and you can walk out of here a free mech," said Rodimus.

Darkstorm thought to himself, why should I tell them anything? I've spend the last 4 million Stellar Cycles in an attempt to help the Decepticon Empire defeat those Blasted Autobots. And how here I stand, pleading for my freedom with the very Mechs i attempted to destroy, all thanks to the Empire's glorious Leaders. Megatron, Galvatron, Scorponok, they're all alike. They promised us glory, power and rein over Trillions of Lifeforms, and what did we get? Defeat and worse, Slavery. Well if these Autobots want information, by Primus I'll give them whatever they want.

"Well for Deathsaurus' wear abouts, I really cannot say. But if its Scourge you want, You'll find him within our Military installation, at the heart of the Omicron nebula. I would imagine he's using the Installation as a base of construction for more Sweep Drones," said DarkStorm.

"But our sensors cannot detect any Military Installation within th Omicron Nebula," said an unsure Kup

"I didn't say it could be detected, now did I? Besides what would be the purpose of giving you false information? The war is over, and all I wish for is my freedom," DarkStorm Said.

the council sat silent.

" Give us a moment to speak in private," said Rodimus.

As DarkStorm awaited his fate, he mused to himself the expression on Scourge's face when the Autobots assaulted the instillation. He will surely know who gave them the information, but that was a moot point at any rate.

"We have come to a decision. we believe that you have given us true information and you will be released, however, we feel that in a sign of good faith, you must agree to one final term," said the wise Prime.

DarkStorm laughed to himself," and what is the final term, exactly?"

Rodimus Spoke first," Perceptor?"

"This final condition to your freedom is this. We are aware that you were intrumental in helping the Constructions Build the Decepticon Mobile Fortress, Trypticon. And as you are well aware, Trypticon was badly Damaged in the Final battle of Athenia and he is Autobot custody. If you agree to personally oversee the destruction of Trypticon's remains, you will have earned your freedom," the Autobot Scientist said.

DarkStorm could not believe what audio sensors had picked up," HOW DARE YOU ASK ME TO DESTROY MY GREATEST EXPERIMENT! IT IS OF NO USE TO ANYONE! WHY MUST IT BE DESTROYED?"

"To insure that it is never used against the People of Cybertron or the rest of the Universe ever again," said Springer.

DarkStorm was in a state of shock. How could they, those self righteous Autobots expect him to go along with this? To ask him to destroy his work is asking to destroy a part of himself. But if he was to taste freedom again, if his plans were to come to fruition, what choice would he have?

"Very well, Autobots. If it will guarantee my freedom, I will destroy Trypticon's Remains," said the Decepticon.

"Then it is agreed. Guards, disengage the restraining bolts. DarkStorm, you are hereby absolved of all charges. Your free to go," said Rodimus.

DarkStorm didn't say anything as he left the Council Chamber. He didn't have to. As long as his enemys believed he was defeated, that was all that mattered. All he needed was time. Time to plan. Time to get organized. Time to call in some old favors.

"DarkStorm to General Deathsaurus, come in. I believe you and I have much to discuss."
