Starscream OWNED the black hawk as it crashed and nearly chopped sam into pieces and land on prime incase you forgot.
Oh and Scorponok was like...tiny, so of course his attacks arent going to be as powerful, but he still managed to cause a shedload of damage. If the squad of soldiers wasnt able to call in the air strike he would have killed them too.

Their weaponry is probably more focused, in that the damage occurs in a smaller radius around the impact site, thereby maximizing the force used on the target itself.
Take Blackout's initial assault, for example. I'm willing to bet that the blue fire we saw was applying largely concussive force.
