The FP Stunticons are not scout sized,They are almost deluxe sized. they are all 1/4 inch shorter than the average Hasbro deluxe. Each FP Stunticon is about Five inches tall. 1.0 deluxe Rodimus is 5 inches & a Quarter inch tall.

I agree with Rated X,All of the original scramble city limbs-bots varied between legends & commander sizes. So having the FP Stunticons limbs bots being around Five inches tall each,gives them all a proper toy scale.

I am simply not a fan of those TFC & Warbotron combiners,all the toys are in extreme oversized scales. I don't need my combiners three to Four toy sizes bigger than the originals were. I can understand the need to go up maybe one size scale bigger. but going up three maybe Four whole size scales bigger is kinda entering the realm of ridiculous.

I can see discussion has been brewing while I was working. To clarify what I meant by the "scout" size is the original Munitioner/Explorer figures which were designed to team up with energon scout molds Blight/Stormcloud. I have always considered those two to be scout sized and the FP Stunticons are the same size.

Sure the original G1 limbs were smaller than Autobot cars. That was stupid in the 80's and it's still stupid today. Theyre all cars so just make them the same damn size like the cartoon. Classics and anything made to go with them should model that scale. Toyworld got it right. Fansproject instead chose to match Bruticus's scale. But Bruticus was an upgrade set meant to enhance a set of crappy scout sized figures. Menasor was a scratch built project and had no need to match old upgrade sets. FP Superion was dwarfed by Bruticus, so they all their combiners were never in scale with each other to begin with. They need to get with the program. It doesnt have to be TFC big, but at least go deluxe on the damn cars. Thats my opinion.

As far as what I consider the Perfect scale 3rd party Devastator. I prefer the Maketoys Giant over the TFC Hercules. I don't mind seeing the constructicons all be deluxe sized as this is what the 1980's cartoon scale was.

I'll admit I wouldn't seeing a 3rd party company create 6 commander sized Constructicons that can form Devastator. as this would be a decent 1980's toy scale. Even though the 1985 toys were legion scale. The Price for something like this would be a fraction of what the others would cost.

I just don't get why TFC makes there combiners so huge. they are not in original toy scale. There not even in 1980's cartoon scale. I don't mind a size higher but not three maybe four sizes bigger.
What's worse,these things cost well over $550 to get the full set.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. I do like the size used by TFC, but even if they were a bit smaller that would be OK. I don't know why FP is stuck on this borderline scout size for everything.

You're definitely entitled to your opinion - I'm just happy that the combined mode looks to be about Giant's height.

I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't let this bug me so much. I think it's phrases like, "The 3rd party constructicons need to deluxe scale." (Emphasis mine.) Why do they "need" to be? The scales in the cartoon shifted massively from episode to episode. Perhaps you would prefer to see them deluxe and that is why you prefer Giant to Herc. But others may not feel the same way. Personally I prefer how the combined mode of Herc looks with my classics figures. But I wouldn't say that the Constructicons need to be voyager size. I prefer them that size. I'm happy with Herc. And I think discussions about scale tend to go nowhere and end up being very silly. (I also agree with Mkall's take on the replication of mining vehicles, but I think that is more of a matter of aesthetics as well as scale.)

The Constructicons are bigger than the Autobot cars according to the official G1 scale chart so TFC's scale is closer that MT's based on that

FP's Stunticons are undersized when compared with the Classics Autobots, but seeing as Hasbro made most Classics Decepticons under sized then there is a claim that they are an okay size. Once I've replaced my seekers, Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge these Stunticons will be too small for me (maybe).

That pic of optimus in long hauls flat bed is useless. as Some transformers alt modes are shown bigger or smaller than there robot modes in the cartoons. the transforming process can condense or expand the alt mode. examples of this are astrotrain,cosmos, powerglide,megatron,soundwave,reflector and others.

when i said cartoon scale with car robot modes. I was not referring to minibots verse the constructicons. I was referring to the car bots like jazz,sunstreaker,prowl & others of that size. everyone knows the minibots are tiny in the cartoon & got legend sized toys.

That constructicon was barely a quarter of a head taller than ratchet. thisd puts both of them at the same scale.

the constructicons in those pics are not taller or the same height of megatron or starscream.

Most have agreed the TFC Hercules is too big. While most myself included have agreed the MT Giant is in prefect scale.

Those scale charts aren't worth the paper there written on. I wouldn't count any of them as bible official. due to most of them being created by the fans for the fans. fans have never worked on the animation or toy design teams,so there just guessing everything,based off observations. very few of these scale charts are done by those who are either part of the original toy design team or original animation cartoon series team. often times if hasbro or takara hire people to do these official size charts that appears in magazines. these guys come on the scene years or decades after the cartoon or toys have ended.

Like most have stated & noticed. doing any type of cartoon series size charts makes no sense. as the animators 30 years ago did rush jobs & didn't care about the big details. the proof is in the 1980's TF episodes. as characters often appear bigger or smaller from scene to scene or from episode to episode. 30 years ago,some characters appeared bigger in one mode & tiny in the other mode.

There has been a lot of discussions about Herc and Giant, personally I think Giant is ugly and undersized, but that is my opinion.

The FACT is that the larger scale combiner teams have done rather well. If they hadn't then TFC wouldn't have completed the Arialbots and wouldn't be currently working on the Predacons while also planning the Protectobots. While the fandom may not be split 50/50 for one scale or the other each camp has more than enough followers that comments like "While most myself included have agreed the MT Giant is in prefect scale" are completely wrong and uninformed.

Yeah, this had me scratching my head. Isn't that scale guide in something called the Transformers Bible or something. Y'know, the one that the animators were supposed to use to try to keep consistent? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else...

At any rate, it is amazing how the G1 toys and animation models make it possible to cherry pick an argument in nearly any direction. The whole point of the G1 cartoon montage above wasn't to set a scale. It was to show just how silly it is to use the cartoon to set a particular scale. Takara is going to have an interesting time with some of the G1 cast, and I'm willing to bet that there will still be arguments about scale...

I am just happy that this robot will scale with Giant well. That's it. I will not display Menasor as his individual components - why do that when you have a badass combiner! That is surely the main draw of this set and should be the main consideration. If FansProject had gone with deluxe sized cars then Menasor would be (IMO) waaaay too big. I justify that statement thus:

I think everyone has their own 'key' combiner which they would like their other combiners to display nicely with. That's the point, right? to have the whole lot together, standing shoulder to shoulder or posed kicking the crap out of each other? My 'Key' combiner happens to be Giant, so FP Menasor is a perfect size and FP Bruticus is just about OK. FP Superion is too small. TFC Superion is too big. TFC Defensor will also be too big. So I need someone else (preferably Maketoys or FP) to revisit Superion and Defensor. I also intensely dislike the TFC aesthetic and have never seen a blander set of uninspiring figures masquerading as Transformers, but, as others have said, that is just my opinion. I'm sure many would disagree.

There are clearly 2 rival scales which have sprung up and there is no reason why both can't be accommodated. We have the FP/Maketoys scale (which I prefer) and the TFC/those dudes making the new Bruticus scale. The one exception to this 'rule' is Predaking, who is a bit of a monster, so he doesn't have to (and should not) be as small as the rest of the combiners. So MMC's Predaking will fit in any collection. Which is great news because he is awesome.

Just a question out of curiosity, since there seem to be 2 or 3 predominant views as to scaling of these characters, and I think my preferred scale is totally different. So, I am curious if anyone else here agrees with me:

I really don't care what the robot modes scale was in the cartoon. I hate mass-shifting, and have since I first watched the cartoon when I was 8 or 9 years old (literally, it bothered me in the first episode, as much as I grew up on the cartoon and otherwise loved it).
The only scale I care about is vehicle modes. I don't care if one toy towers over another, even if they were the same size in the cartoon. I like the vehicle modes to scale properly.
Superior has never worked for me against Menasor, because they shouldn't even be close to the same height, based on the vehicles they are made of. Bruticus has always bothered me, scale-wise. As a motorcycle Transformer obsessed fan, I will always lose out. Arcee's changing size was my one dislike in Transformers Prime.

I take it you're excited for MT's Computron, then?

I don't have a 'key' combiner, but I find it important for the gestalts to scale well. Because I find that the FP Stunticons scale well with the TFC construction vehicles, I just don't have a problem displaying them together. It just feels right to me, and Intimidator being half an inch shorter than Herc just isn't gonna bother me. Those 2, plus MMC's Feral Rex, are going to be my gestalt bruisers.

Is TFC really scaled with Warbotron? Their Bruticus is going to be, like, 15 inches tall...

I am right there with you. Since it seems inconceivable to get a decent F15 alt mode scale with a Lambo Countache, I don't worry so much about my toys. I prefer to think that part of the justification for the seekers joining the Decepticons was that their size warranted more energon and the Autobot Council was unwilling to let them have it. (This isn't part of cannon, and I don't know if any fan-fiction touches on this. It's part of my own private stories I've been writing.)

As far as toy scaling, I use my imagination. I am taking pictures of the individual bots (and combiner teams) to use in some digital comic based drawings I am working on, but I grow and shrink characters to make them closer in scale. I find trying to match scale in the actual figures about as pointless as some of these discussions on needing to match scales.

(So, then why do I keep being so annoyed with the discussion and partaking? I think it has to do with some of the reasoning presented. Maybe it's the teacher in me. Maybe it's the fact that I am teaching a course in Logic and Troubleshooting right now. Maybe I just like to argue. Hint: it's probably that last one. )

I really don't care what the robot modes scale was in the cartoon. I hate mass-shifting, and have since I first watched the cartoon when I was 8 or 9 years old (literally, it bothered me in the first episode, as much as I grew up on the cartoon and otherwise loved it).

Superior has never worked for me against Menasor, because they shouldn't even be close to the same height, based on the vehicles they are made of. Bruticus has always bothered me, scale-wise. However, to bring things back to the point, when I collect, I like to keep vehicle modes in scale. FP not-Stunticons looks to be fairly in scale with each other. Same with Toyworld not-Throttlebots. However, their vehicle modes are way off from each other, thus I will not display them together. It has nothing to do with robot mode or animation guide sheets.

I am right there with you. Since it seems inconceivable to get a decent F15 alt mode scale with a Lambo Countache, I don't worry so much about my toys. This will probally be the next e-Hobby/Millions Publishing exclusive that I pay $140 for and then ends up on clearance 8 months later for $75. When will I ever learn ?
