Hi all, this is my first attempt at modifying TFs I have undertaken. I really want to have an Arcee who fits in with the aesthetic of the classics/universe figures but I don't want to pay loads.
I have never had much love for Drift, galavanting around with his silly swords and corny backstory so I thought I could make a go of customising him to be Arcee instead. So far, all I have done is draw and cut out lots of pink vinyl to hide his symbols and try to give his alt mode an Arcee feel. Pictures are below of my progress so far..
As you can see, as well as being a dubious addition to the G1 universe, Drift has loads of kibble. Almost enough to make the whole alt mode with. Here, I have separated it all so I can scan the panels I need to make stickers for.
Here are the stickers applied. It's not perfect, but I am reasonably happy...
In bot mode he looks pretty much the same, unfortunately.
I decided to use vinyl because I was not confident that I could paint smoothly enough over some of the large panels. It also saved me having to prime and spray the whole thing, and repaint white bits that are already white as it is.
The other bonus is that it is completely reversible if I decide to give up! All I had to do was shave the red paint from the door edges back to white.
I think it looks pretty tidy and quite 'Arcee'. Unfortunately I had to cover the red paint already on the car and design my colours to hide it. The vinyl is just thick enough so that the contours of the red paint below cannot be seen through.
Now I can't do much until my donor Arcee head arrives from the US of A. The Jobs I plan to then do are as follows
- Spray Torso white
- swap the head
- remove the bracket that holds the door kibble in bot mode
- attach the door kibble to another body part in bot mode
- (possibly) complete or partial leg swap (this may result the front front 2 thirds of the car being used as a 'shield' in bot mode)
- Swap the massive man hands for G1 Smokescreen's tiny hands
- Shave down parts of the arms so they are less bulky
- Put a waist swivel in (any feedback on how to achieve this is very welcome)
The reason I want to put a waist swivel in is because I want to differentiate her transformation from that of Blurr and Drift, so the rear of the upper torso becomes her, well, rack I suppose. Also, If I used the front of the torso as Drift does, then Arcee will look like she has 4 boobs. This will require the arms to be rotated which puts the wheels on the inside of the forearm, which I actually prefer.
