The red box at top, first sentance says: 'The biggest event to occur in recent Transformers history is the introduction of Ultra Magnus and Galvatron- the new leaders'.
heroic_decepticon wrote:Deadpool. wrote:I think that might have been the original plan.
Both UM and Galv were "City Commanders" on the toy packaging, right?
I think its possible, and wrote so a little earlier.heroic_decepticon wrote:Ultra Magnus' toy package says: City Commander- Ultra Magnus
Galvatron's package says: City Commander- Galvatron
Rodimus Prime's package says: Autobot Protector- Rodimus Prime
From this, I think it reasonable to draw the conclusion that the new leaders were planned to be Ultra Magnus and Galvatron; with Rodimus Prime being a souped up more powerful Hot rod perhaps, some sort of vigilante 'protector'.
But there has been some debate about that point so i thought of bringing up this 'new' discovery I made when reading Target 2006... heh.
Not sure what the others would think.
Deadpool. wrote:And in Target:2006, Galvatron & Cyclonus seemed more concerned about Ultra Magnus' interference.
Rodimus wasn't even mentioned at all.
heroic_decepticon wrote:Yup. Exactly right. Because at that point in time UM was effectively the 'new' Autobot leader and Roddy didn't even figure into the equation, which relates to some debate earlier over who was initially supposed to be the new leader after Optimus.

He had potential but he never lived up to that potential in the G1 toon.Rodimus was written much better in the U.K. comics.judge wrote:Just look at Head masters episode where optimus dies yet again, but leaves Rodimus in Full Confidence to Led the Autobots,

First it was the ghost of Alpha Trion that restored the Power Within the Matrix not Rodimus Prime.
Second in the Japaneses serries the Matrix is not some kind of "Mythical object" like it is for us.In the Japanese serries the Matrix is nothing more then a power boaster and as a matter of fact in the other serries that came after their G1 serries like Beast Wars 2 and Neo and the Car Robots show there was more then one Matrix.judge wrote:Also Look At Season 3 of The G1 Series Episode Return of Optimus Prime, When Optimus Prime is brought Back to life, And is asked by his troops "whats the plan?" he has no **** clue without the Matrix, His wisdom is gone, this is just a little thought there for you guys,
And what kind of thoughts should we have now after your statement????
Your statement only proves 3 things:
[1] That there must have been more then one true inheritor of the Matrix's true power because how would Optimus be able to fully use all its power if he too were not a "chosen one"
[2] Rodimus Prime must have been "more" incompedent then we all thought because he had the key to fixing the problem with the hate spores plague all along in his cheast and he wasnt even smart enough to figure it out himself.
[3] Optimus with out the Matrix was still smart enough to know that he needed the Matrix to come up with a plan to stop the plague.Rodimus was a fool for not knowing that he had the answers all alonge.judge wrote:I will also reference, Season Three - The Burden Hardest To Bear,

If it were only a case of " short sighted people" like us not being able to "let go of Optimus Prime" then how to you explaine how popular Rodimus Prime was to the fans of the U.K. G1 comics?????
Face it in the G1 toon he was a poorly written character,
there was no consistent writting for him one episode to the next.Thats why he is so disliked.judge wrote:Give me a Break, Rodimus was Just as Great and Who knows could have exceeded Optimus In many ways,

I wont even get in to the fact that it was Optimus that used the Matrix to destroy Unicron in the comics [other then to just say that]. But Optimus did ues the Matrix's power to stop the "Hate Plague" and he had to be brought back to life to do it.

If Galvatron met Megatron, knocked him out, and took over the Constructicons, wouldn't Galvatron have had memories of encountering himself back when he was still Megatron?
Auto Bot wrote:If Rodimus Prime got a better toy and alt mode, the higher power could have given him a better role, a better story.
It's the toy business that is the main driving force behind all this.

I dont think I can agree with that. Some of the more popular G1 characters had very basic toys with low power levels and somr of those character toys were as much as a brick as Rodimus was.
Auto Bot wrote:
I meant higher power, as in Hasbro executives.
Auto Bot wrote:The first batch of G1 toys is a different case. They are all what Hasbro got to start with. There was no way yet to tell how this new concept will survive. And the starting point are the toys. The characters and story were built on this initial batch of toys from Japan.
So the strategy was, to give some of the worse looking or simplistic toys the kind of important characterization in the cartoon, so that kids will buy them. Such as Ironhide, Ratchet, Gears, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Brawn, Insecticons, Seekers, and ultimately, Megatron.
Auto Bot wrote:In Rodimus' time, TF franchise was already high-flying money-milking-cow. So it was easy to decide to let him go soon. Besides, i believe the Hot Rod/Rodimus toys are a consequence of the story. (A reverse scenario of the first batch of G1 toys)
