Why do the TF's have humanoid modes anyway? Wouldn't make better sense to just give a car or jet arms and hands, maybe a head-like sensor apparatus. The whole humanoid-turns-into-vehicle thing is super-improbable to start. If the TF's "really are" a product of a parallel evolution of machine life, then why don't they look more like machines? Why bipedal? The most probable TF's are the beastformers like Skylynx, Ravage, etc.
So if a mechalifeform is going to look humanoid, why wouldn't some have feminine features? It makes as much sense as the masculine form with the broad shoulders and bulging codpiece. If they had a sexless form, they'd look more like the original g1 boxart, or be skinny like the movie's Frenzy.

Exactly my point, I don't see why people try to find a special reason for there being "female" TFs when if you jsut assume they are sexless then it doesn't matter what shape they are.

Wow, don't know what I can say that hasn't been said already, but here's my two cents...or in my country's currency, my one peso.
As far as trying to come up with a logical, in-contnuity reason why there would be fembots in a TF G1-based setting prior to their making contact with Earth, the only logical reason I can come up with that pleases me is that for some reason in Cybertron's past, they were in contact with other alien races. These other races, particularly if they were organic, would likely have had genders, so for one reason or another, bots of what they consider the "female" variety were made.
Of course, that's just my possible take on the situation.
Now, if you're willing to buy the whole techno-organic bit that showed up at the end of Beast Machines, or if you accept the existence of Primus into the scheme of things...maybe there's a more pre-sestined reason why there are TF fembots...

thanks, I had written a lengthy article once that got into more detail back in my crappy fan-fiction writing days, personally I'm indifferent to the male/female/asexual question, but after enough online and RL discussions on it kinda made me think more about it

Possibly they had a handful of lasercores/sparks ( To me, there were sparks in G1, don't like it, tough cheese. ), stored on the ark, and Wheeljack and Ratchet used those.

Another possibility is the Dinobots were taken to VS later on, it would explain Grimlock going from an arrogent prick to Scooby-Doo in later seasons.

good point. the comics and cartoon disagree. but even in 'the shockwave Vs wheeljack' point, vecta sigma has no input in their creation. It's only in the more recent comics that the dinobots have a pre-earth exsistance

i thought toonie TFs could be brought to life using the matrix as it has a link to vectorsigma. Isn't that how the stunticons get brought to life, or maybe the combaticons?

I figured toonie Dinos were given sparks directly from the Matrix like them... though how Megs could use the Matrix like that is beyond me.

The Combaticons pretty much had their sparks/lasercores ( sorry, but personality component sounds so messed up, sort of elluding that the TF's are simply just lifeless machines running on preset programming ) removed and placed in a sort of storage area as imprisonment by Megatron so many uncounted years ago.

8.) Mechanical eye lids, probably designed to protect fragile optics from damadge.

10) Those names are just for human benefit, they're not the characters "real" Cybertronian names.
11 + 12) It's possible that a transformers "skin" is not made up of solid plates, but some sort of metal mesh to offer more flexibilty, this would also explain why they can have facial expressions.

4) He wasn't really dead, just using some cheap special effects to pretend he was a ghost. He got them at a police auction selling the confiscated property of defeated scooby-doo villains.

7) They got it from the UN in exchange for keeping the 'cons in check.
8.) He's only Silverbolt 6 and 3/4 days of the week, on friday nights he's Ms Bella Silver at a certain bar in Cybertrons red light district.
9) as long as the spark/laser core/personality unit/brain module (delete as necessary for specific continuity) survives the rest of the TF can be rebuild.

Least Odie was stupid in the head to begin with. Grimlock actually progressed to higher levels of stupidity as we saw him throughout the years.

Why do female Transformers exist? Procreation, of coure. Otherwise why would you hear of other types of Transformers having females? (Decepticons, Maximals, etc.) One of the big reasons why there seem to be just "male" Transformers, is there could have been something that wiped out a lot of the Transformers, they regrew in population, but something happened to make almost an entire generation or two male. (Which happens in nature sometimes)
