Iv'e been playing the MGS Games for the past few days, I just need to know If I Have the stories in the right order. Heres my Guess:
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid 3
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 4
It's all too confusing, I googled it, and nothing helpful came up.

Also, any linear explaining as to wtf was going on during MGS 2 as regaurding what was real, and what was fake is very welcomed by me.
EDIT* Does Portable ops fit in anywere? Never played it.

Nope, some of it is off. Corrected list:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater/Subsistence (Same game, different name, camera setup, and bonus features)
Metal Gear Solid: Portal Ops
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid/Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (MGS4 has more or less put Twins Snakes as canon, though they both tell the exact same story with only superficial differences)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty/Substance
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Basically the whole thing was a test to see if how well the Patriots could manipulate people in an era where all data and knowledge is so easily accessible. Everything else the AI says, including hints at its origins and the true identity of the Patriots (Especially the list of names it fed Snake and Otacon) is either a blatant lie or the AI is simply too delirious from being broken down by a virus to tell the truth. Raiden is the only one kept out of the loop; he's hit so hard when he at least begins to learn the truth that it causes his brief existential crisis.

OK Thanks, this def. clears things up a bit. I Sort of re-arranged the list last night after looking through the in game time lines. Still, What goes on in portable ops? I mean, I never played it, because I thought it was just a "Hey, we have a mgs psp game" kinda deal. Thought it was a bunch of VR Training missions, or MGS1 on the psp. At least, Ima choke my friend for telling me that (He probably didn't understand it)

It's basically a sequel to MGS3, like Peace Walker. It's about Big Boss trying to clear his name after the rest of FOX goes rogue.
