So by surprise I managed to find the Heart of Darkness TPB the other day (didn't even know it was out), and upon reading it I find they skipped the events of Infestation. A bit annoying, since I either have to track down the individual issues or buy the first volume of the TPB, half of which has nothing to do with Transformers.

So, is it worth it? I read the plot synopsis and it looks like I miss out on some pretty important stuff, mainly the fate of Kup. Heart of Darkness was at turns silly, other times cool. The writing and art both seemed pretty inconsistent, really weird at points and pretty good in others. I know Infestation is helmed by different people but ties into the same story with Galvatron and his crew involved. Art by Roche is a plus.

So what should I do? I suppose I should also mention that I'm a bit of a completionist with the IDW continuity. I own everything non-Bayverse or orignal Marvel run so far, so it would be nice to get it for that sake. I just wish I didn't have to spend $20+ on a trade that's half full of GI Joe, which I have no interest in.

From my perspective & IMHO,Infestation like most TF Cross-over comics was pure awful.

TF Cross-over's biggest negative is spending too much time fleshing out the origin story. then doing a bang up speedy rush job on the wrapping up the loose ends.

Hmm. Thanks for the responses, guys. I guess I'll see how much it is, if it's more than $20 I'll just track down the single issues. I was trying to keep to Trades only, but what can you do...

The only other option i see as feasible is if the do a trade with both volumes once #2 has been out for a while.
Maybe cheaper as a preorder on amazon or the like.

I hear you about the trades but if single issues fill the gap for less, that is always the way to go.
I am running into the same problem with the DD/Image GiJoe vs. TF crossovers now.
Now way I am paying the $100 and change for the omnibus when i have found trades and single issues for a quarter of the price combined.

Luckily the other crossovers don't really affect the main storyline, so I don't have to worry about those (I hope). Trades look so much nicer on a shelf than single issues. Heck, I would've gotten the hardcover IDW collections if they came out soon enough but I was already well into the IDW continuity with trades before they came along, and it's too much trouble to sell them off now. I can't even get rid of my Dreamwave single issues.

They should have put the TF issues in the ongoing trade they were self explanatory enough without the other stories!

Or in Heart of Darkness, since it's relevant to the story of that miniseries.
