How did this pirate thing start?

Um... they talk, do stuff, move around, and fight in their alt modes too. Except for random ojects they just seem to sit there.

you were mentioning "beast mode" and, to me, that has always just been the same thing as calling the "alt-mode" the "car mode" or "jet mode." Grimlock has a "beast mode." so does Cheetor, Optimus Primal, or anyone else in Beast Wars. ratbat, ravage, etc. do NOT have beast-modes, because the 'animal form' is not the disguise, but rather, the form they take when NOT in disguise. Ravage is a cat-shaped robot that turns into a cassette tape.

Grimlock turns into a giant METAL DINOSAUR how is that in any way a "disguise" even if he looked like a real dino it wouldn't work in that time period because all the real dinos are dead.

By the time the Dinobots turned up most of the human population new about the giant alien robots anyway.

Robots needn't be humanoid. Technically, they just need to be programmable machines. (Some have argued a definition that says a robot is a machine that can autonomously react to its environment. That's a pretty good definition, too.)

If you go into the original coinage of the word, a robot was a clone of a human. That definition hasn't been used since Forbidden Planet gave us Robbie the Robot.

So, what you seem to want to do is compile a list of TF's without a humanoid form. It's mean of people to degrade the topic as "uninteresting." (Shame on you, if you think a topic is uninteresting, don't post on it.) This topic is just as worthy as those who wanted to compile a list of dragon TF's.

You can add movie Scorponok to your list. As far as the movie is concerned. Although the toy has some sort of trying-hard humanoid form. The transformation really sucks.
