A) I assumed when they said "Lost World" they meant The Lost World of Conan Doyle.
B) Would the fountain of youth (something which confers immortality) not be surrounded by creatures that should have been long dead?

What.
Did the writers just play Final Fantasy 10 or something?
Airships...
Lord.
Walking talking skeletons and guys with fish on their faces and an old ship that can dive underwater and surface like a modern day sub is all very beleieveable but an airplane or airship is what is gonna ruin it for you?
Keep rolling your eyes. You're snippy retort is about to be countered in 3

Ghost Pirates, Davy Jones, and the British Navy are viable enemies of Pirates. How is a guy flying around in an airship related to pirates?

Its called story legends of the sea? 20.000 leagues under the sea is an obvious legendary story to use for material in a POTC movie.
Lighten up, it'll be lots of fun. (if they make it)
I cant help but feel this will turn into another one of those dumb prime and his face plate/exposed moving parts idiotic arguements again...

They are made as entertainment and are ment to take us places and see things that we can never go to or see for real. Its the magic of cinema. Im passionate about film and i have strong feelings about them. And it especially annoys me that people are already ripping this film to shreds based on a few rumours and it isnt even in production yet.
Thats my main complaint, and as i said i have a passion for film so i tend to get more emotional about films than a normal person.

You're missing the point.
Airships are NOT something you regulary associate with pirates.
And I don't see what's so unusual about people ripping a movie to shreds before it's even started production, same thing happened for a certain movie that opens in 11 days that this fandom is interested in.

Its not unusual i agree, but that doesnt justify doing so or make participating in it a fair and intelligent thing to do.
Burn wrote:errr ... personally if you add naked women to ice-cream I don't see how you can end up with a plate of crap.
A big mess maybe.
Jar Axel wrote:When you people complain about airships are you thinking about flying as in aerial age airships or are you thinking about sailing the skys as in naval age air ships. I know its nitpicking but the concpet of the "air ship" existed in story and mythical form lonnnggggg before the invention of modern or even semi modern air machines. In fact these mythalogical ships capable of "sailing" the skys are where the term airship comes from.

Seeing as how you are making yourself out to be the arbiter of fair and intelligent conversation...
How about you go about and find some reference to flying airships in pirate 'lore' and 'mythology'?
As has been clearly (and thus far, politely stated) by several people, that the existing POTC movie elements (crustaceans, curses, skeletons, et al) are all some how and in some way based, if not wholly, at least by reference, in pirate mythology.
So, since I made such an egregious attack on your all time favorite movie, you now have the opportunity to tell me why the greatest pirate movie of all time has to resort to 'airships' and what maybe other impositions on our already suspended disbelief.
Yes, the movie is about creating an experience.
So is ice cream.
Ice cream is a great experience. You can add chocolate, nuts, syrup, and all other manner of good foods to it and make it better.
You could also add a delicious steak to your ice cream. Steak is good, if not better than ice cream. So, in theory, this new food experience should be great.
But alas, it was a stupid combination, never really meant for human consumption.
I’m sure the point has been made in that off hand analogy, but just to clarify…and godalmighty, I hate having to clarify…
Adding cool space ships, time travel, and airships, and monsters, and naked women, and and and…
Only serves to give you a plate of crap in the end.
(Now, that being said, if it works in the movie, it works and I’ll watch it. Until then, the burden of proof falls upon the idea maker to explain exactly why pizza-cream, or in this case Pirates of the Friendly Skies, will work.)

Sonray wrote:Your sarcastic remarks dont make you any friends here, nor does it make what you are trying to say any mroe intelligent.
The fact i am trying to get accross is that it is just a movie and NOT, i repeat, NOT a documentary. Out of all the things that are over the top in movies (giant alien robots for one), from star wars to star trek, movies about mummies and vampires, stuff about zombies and movies about talking fish and every superhero movie ever made, a possible air ship in a POTC movie (not just a pirate movie, as POTC has created its own genre which allowes ANYTHING to be possible) is the one thing that you cant shift your brain into nuetral for and accept?
And again the fact remains that these are just rumours. Besides whats so bad about some enemy or ally having an airship in a time where humans are starting to make global maps of the world, and exploring all the seas and discovering all the continents. Why cant technology progress in a POTC movie? Besides, like somebody already said, flying air ships have been around for a loooong time.
Oh and just so you know its not my all time fave movie, that would be The Matrix. I just think your reasoning behind this is a bit childish and unfair.
