I've seen "Sliders", and your right.
For those who havn't seen it, the idea is that their are an infinate number of realities, each with a duplicate of the people we know and love.
Thus, Primus and Unicron in every univers, yet a Unicron can die while leaving the others alive and well.

I myself love stories about parallel dimensions.....it gives us a chance to see characters we know and love in new ways. But there's an inherent flaw in the parallel dimensions theroy that always bugs me.

I love story plots in which characters accidentally cross over to a different dimension.

And the concept of parallel dimensions alos serve as a "What If?" scenario.

The way I interpretted it always, is that there IS only one unicron, but like in the armada comics, he could go between all the different universes. I apply the same thing to primus even though all I really know about the dude is he's like the anti-unicron. Never cared to much about him because they only MENTIONED him in g1, never got a good explanation, unless there was something in the old marvel g1 comics. I never had any of those.

Sort of, except there is only one Unicron, and he traverses as he tries to plunder the multiverses, once he is destroyed in one he back doors himself into another...

I think.

He's got some pretty far-out powers to go along with them, too, including teleportation, the projection of trippy telepathic visions and illusions, and the ability to groove on the language of 98% of all known species. Omnipotent aye, but at least in Unicron's case not Omnipresent. At least not in the sense of having a physical body. On a Quantum level perhaps. I'm thinking it might have something to do with their prior battle(s) and Primus imprisoning Unicron?

Either that or something to do with Unicron consuming the prior (multiple-) universe(s) and being imprisoned while the One, or Primus, depending on your point of view seeded the new multiverse?

That last one is most probably my fan theory, with no real concrete basis except that I might use it in my Primus Bio fan fic.

So yeah, maybe Unicron's omnipresent but only within the sub-atomic level wherein all rational rules and laws of physics go right out the window.

Maybe that's why they call it Chaos Theory?

Its a nice way to think of it but its not suported by the stories told in the past.

Little details like logic and continuity have never bothered Furman in the past.

Yeah, and it's disturbingly FREAKING OBVIOUS to anyone paying attention the only time Unicron's ever hopped dimensions is the Armada comics. As I've said before, CARTOON ARMADA UNICRON IS A DIFFERENT CHARACTER TO G1 CARTOON UNICRON. They are NOT the same guys, and nor is Marvel comic Unicron. They are three different Unicrons.

See, this is why I'm against retcons. At the moment, Furman is trying to slap his god mythos across the whole TF multiverse. Probably because he came up with the idea. Personally, I think it's ass, but whatever. But what happens next week if Furman is hit by a bus, and the next writer decides that they've never liked the "Unicron as god" idea, and decide to retcon it back out?

Far better to leave the past alone than to constantly try to shoe horn in ideas that don't fit. And let's face it, the G1 cartoon has enough continuity bloops to deal with without deliberately adding another one.

Exactly. Unicron ISN'T a God in the cartoon, so there's the stupid "Unicron is the same in every universe, he just travels!" claim out the window. I mean, hello, we've SEEN the G1 cartoon. Retconning anything out of the G1 cartoon is stupid. If you can give us a clean retcon without contradicting anything, fine. But if Furman says something which clearly isn't the case, it's "Retcon ignoring" time!

It really confuses me as to why anyone would want to retcon "Unicron as god" into G1. "Call Of The Primitives" gave a perfectly good explanation as to where Unicron came from, so why confuse things by throwing in Furman's latest brain fart?

I guess it annoys me that Furman is not just writing gibberish in comics he's been hired to write, but that he wants to spread it to uninfected and unconnected realities. If even the G1 cartoon can fall, what chance for the rest of us?
