Motto: "May God have mercy on my enemies, because I sure as hell won't."
In Mortal Kombat Armageddon, it would take the player a second or so to switch to the block position, in which time you were vunerable.

The AI characters didn't have this second. They could instantly switch between attacking and defense positions instantly.

It made me mad.

'Luck of the Draw' battles. Like Seymour in FFX on Gagazet - even the strategy guide says point blank that it doesn't matter how well you've leveled up and arranged your characters, winning that battle is pretty much a random thing.

Incredibly hard battles or missions.

Ya know the kinds that you have to keep on trying over and over again and get stressed out to the point of breaking a controller

10.) Unskippable cut-scenes

9.) Super-hard boss battles that take place right after said unskippable cut-scene, forcing you to watch the cut-scene over and over and over again every time that you die trying to beat the boss

8.) Forced tutorial levels

7.) Going through a huge ordeal to get an item that is fundamentally worthless (ice arrow in Ocarine of Time, etc.)

6.) Dying right before you get to the save point

5.) Fighting the same enemy over and over again simply so that you can gain enough experience to take on the tougher enemies

4.) Games that force you to select healing items in real-time (Castlevania: Lament of Innocence)

3.) Brainless damsels in distress

2.) The RPG cliche of "small-town-kid embarks on quest to convince royalty that aliens/meteor/demon/sorceror is going to destroy the world"

1.) Medusa Heads

Good one OR what about going above and beyond beating a game say getting 120 Stars when only 64 are needed and there is no differnt ending.

Fun topic!

10. Fetch quests. Do I look like the epic errand-wench of the universe?

9. The Unskippable Cutscene's drunken deadbeat brother-in-law, the Unadjustable Autopilot Text Box. Either I'm stuck. Reading. Like. This. ORIDONTHAVEASECONDTOCATCHTHATWORDBEFOREITSCROLLSONTOTHENEXT.

8. Heroes who say, "I can't go this way!" because of the knee-high stack of feather pillows blocking their path.

7. Game-munching bugs. Because we all love it when the key we've been fighting to get falls through a wall or the door to the next level perpetually locks itself, especially when these things are autosaved and we get to start completely over for our trouble.

6. Heroes who are infernally slow for no good reason.

5. Illogically-limited inventories. Why do I have to put down my shotgun to make space for a pass card?

4. Vehicles that steer like their wheels were made out of Spaghetti-O's.

3. They want how much for that game/system/accessory on eBay?!

2. Release date pushed back AGAIN.

1. "Now Loading"

Edit: And now for a bonus!

Backtracking.

Another thing that I hate is when you're trying to get 100% on a game and that one item remains beyond your grasp, no matter how hard you try.

I just couldn't beat the damn canary's second race to get her note or statue or puzzle piece or whatever the hell it was, and it pissed me off so much that I set the game down in May 2001 and haven't touched it since.

In addition, some of the Poes in Twilight Princess are leaving me quite irrate. I haven't played the game in nearly a month.

Energy gun in Lost Planet. Charge it and it'l knock you ou of a tightly confined VS and then kill you with a second, homing shot.

Lost Planet knockdowns. If you knocked down, your screwed. You can't get hurt but when u stand up your enemy is right next to you with a shotgun waiting for you to stand up.

Lag.

Poorly done cutscenes (PDZ)

Connection errors

Lagtastic servers.

Missions with an AI that must survive, but ALWAYS DIES FROM STUPIDITY.

People who tkae video games seriously. (getting pissed doens't coutn) I mean playing a Star Wars game (Jedi Knight: jedi Academy) and actually thinking your a Sith/Jedi.

Bad-feebacking people so much that their voice gets banned for no reason.

Yeah, it is annoying when there are lame endings. I think Mario 64 has a slightly different ending(Mario eating a piece of cake, never got all 120 stars), but Sunshine has a REALLY lame ending when you get all the shines: a picture. A stupid, stinking picture.

And Jak and Daxter 1 has a really dumb ending when you get 100 power orbs. It wasn't worth it. Luckily, it wasn't hard to get all those orbs.

And how about this: the need to constantly replay something in order to unlock something, or when a game isn't long enough to level things up properly in a certain amount of time. My example, Gundam Seed: Neverending Tommorrow. In order to fight the super-powerful Haro's, you had to unlock all the items, and get all the side characters to level 15. And that took FOREVER! Why did I do it? I'm a completist at games.

*edit*. And another thing, Sonic Mega Collection Plus for the PS2. In order to unlock games like Comix Zone, you had to play every single game 50 times! Not beat, just play, but it was still one of the most annoying dang things I have ever had to do in a game.

I don't see how 10 is annoying. if they're providing the server, they have a right to play on it. Most of the CS and BF2/2142 servers I play on with this tell you well in advance.

How about Fetch Quest's slow paste-eating cousin, the old "This Drawer/Door Can Only Be Opened By One Very Specific Item That You Don't Have" Trick. Perfect example comes from Silent Hill 3. At one point you discover a desk drawer that's stuck, that only be opened by finding a screwdriver. Despite the fact that, by that point in the game, your weapons inventory can include a Katana and a Shotgun either of which would unstick that bastard one way or another. Another is the "Completely Bizzare Puzzle". Such as, from SH3 again, the one where you must find some liver and then burn it to advance. Who, when trapped a dark world of evil critters, thinks "Boy, that liver sure looks useful! Better carry it around for no reason!" :P

Too true. If a brown paper lunch bag had a combination lock, a survival horror hero/ine wouldn't open it without the code. :P

Add to that: puzzles you can't solve until you are specifically told to do so, no matter how obvious their solutions might be. One of my favorites: You find a book. You find a bookshelf missing a book. Doesn't take a genius to figure out what you're supposed to do here, right? And yet you are not allowed to put the book into the empty space on the shelf until you've examined the space, the books around it, and a scratch on the floor beside it. If you try to use the book on the space before then, nothing happens.

How about targets that kill THEMSELVES?

I play Mercenaries, right? Going in to CAPTURE a Deck of 52 member and what happens? STUPID damn AI for the target uses an RPG in close quarters, KILLING themselves and depriving me of half the bounty.... :BANG_HEAD:

1. AI in sports games
2. Exclusive rights to sport to make game
3. Developers thinking that graphics alone will make a game great and then they just $#!& on the gameplay
4. Rushing a game out instead of finishing it and then releasing it. (KOTOR II, leaving out the droid factory but they actually leave all the dialog to open it up in the game)
5. RPG'S where the hero starts game with amnesia/or just doesn't know but is actually all powerful and goes on quest to find out who he is
6. FPS where the enemy isn't some big alien but human size or human period with no armor but you still have to empty a magazine to kill them (surely you can find a better way to make it harder?)
7. Games that make you go on an out of the way hunt to eventually get the all mighty special item and it ends up being worthless
8. WWII games, pick another war already (although I still play them :-? )
9. The "new" feature in this years sports game is _______ and it's completely lame and does nothing for gameplay or should have been there since the beginning (here's looking at you EA morons).
10. Sports games that have absolutely awful rosters (didn't have time to get on the net and check it huh? :???: )

Amnesia as a plot device needs to die a horrible burning death. "Okay, there's an alien menace and your hero is the only person in the universe who can use the weapon capable of destroying it." "So why doesn't he just use it and defeat the menace right off the bat?" (Dramatic pause) "He forgot."

Spike pits. This is probably the only thing I hate the MegaMan games for. This is the reason that the only MM game I beat legitimatly was MMX8. For Christ's Sake! He's an advanced robot from a hundred effin' years in the future! Why the hell didn't they equip him with boots that could walk on spikes? They gave him a gun that could kill anything in the universe, and the ability to take enemy weapons for use against them, but what the f?! He can't so much as stand next to a spike without dyiong painfully!

Wow, that turned into more of a rant than I expected it would.

Also, floppy beam sabers. It doesn't look cool. It's made of light, light moves fast. Thus, the particles in a saber should move from the base and back with such speed that spinning it rapidly wouldn't make it turn much. But no, it flops around like it's made of felt. Anime is also guilty of this.

And one more, because three is the magic number: Inappropriate BGM. (Background Music, for you nübs out there) And you know what the best example of this is?

Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam. (And, by extension, Federation vs. Zeon, probably.)

Case in point: The map "Outside A Baoa Qu." Fighting against Zakus, Doms, Goufs and the like. Oh, and the frikken' Zeong. That's there too. And you know what's aplying in the background? And epic love ballad.

It's war. More than that, it's futuristic war in it's best form. Bloody, epic, and with no clear line between good and evil. Just how I like it. And some Japanese dude is singing a love song, while I'm trying to shoot my rocket launcher at a mobile suit pilot out for my blood. It makes no sense.

I'll stop here. My blood pressure needs a break.

Ya know it could be worse. Capcom could of made a Robot master named "Spikeman".

But also from the Megaman series particulary in X7, there was one thing that drove me insane.

FLAME HYENARD.

DEAR GOD! He was the most annoying boss I have ever played against. All he would do is run around and screaming high pitch versions of the term "burn" and "burn to the ground" over and over again.

And as for GvsZG, it's just the background music from the shows, unfortianatly in bad quality.
