:BOT: Of all things I geek out over, I don't watch Star Trek stuff.

But as mentioned before, I cannot wait for the newest Star Trek movie because I love Abrams, Orci, and Kurtzman. :CON:

Wow you two really surprise me

I have been to many message boards and when this subject comes up it's almost unanimously in favor for Trek 2

First Contact is ok but it's no Wrath of Khan

Khan is good, very good. And it has stood the test of time very well. One of the things that made First Contact great was the darkness and inner struggle with Picard

In a way you could say that it is a reverse of Khan in a sense

In Khan you had a madman seeking vengence on Starfleet's greatest hero of that era
In First Contact Picard, IMO the greatest hero of that era, succumbing to the darkness within himself and nearly becoming mad with revenge like Khan was.

Note: at the end of Khan, Khan quoted Ahab
In First Contact Picard was likened to Ahab, and nearly became a similar character.

thats why FC was the better film for me, because the great Picard nearly became absorbed by his inner demons
In Khan Kirk's character remained fairly constant through the film

FC has the inner deamons of Picard, it shows how even the greatest of men can succumb to the dark side when pushed far enough. Plus James Cromwell put in a great performance as Zefram. Stweart, Spiner and Krige also put in brilliant performances, they played off each other so well, and the (TNG) Borg are my fav aliens.

Khan shows Kirk dealing with the death of an old friend, a great story that follows on from the series and leads the way to the following two films, it's acted well from Shatner and Montalban, even though they never come face to face in the entire movie, and it features self sacrifice. The needs of the many. Ending with Nimoys reading of the No Man Has Gone Before speech finishes the movie off perfectly.

Both superb movies that I enjoy watching again and again, but FC clinches it. Although I like Undiscovered Country as my second, with Khan as close third. But hey, Undiscovered had a great sense of fun to it that was missing in Khan.

No I'm not.....personaly ST 2 is my favorite of the films but its not the best one.....the movies has some major issues with continity, writting, editing and some technical aspects of some shots.Hence what I mean by "Thats depends on how you define best". First Contact and The Undiscovered Country did a much better job of keeping a new story line straight while keeping it in place with already pre-astablished history.

I'm shocked by what you say you've read too.........I'm a member of at least 4 different Star Trek fourms and by far First Contact beats all the other movies in the STMovie catogoiry..TWOK comes in first[but not by much] in the movies by the original cast section but the first movies is gaining these days even thou I cant understand why.

First Contact is cool because the Borg are in it but to me thats the best TNG film

Thats my point.....when you split them into TOS movies and TNG movies you come up with different answers.
Also like I said TWOK made a $hit loads of mistakes from a writting, continuitiy, space sience and specal effects point of views.I'm a nit picker so It tends to bug me when I see so many mistakes in a film. But its still my fav.

What I said was that "I know she hasnt been feeling well" a few months back she put ou a few threads on different sickneses she was looking into cause of some symtoms she was having....its how we came to know each other due to some experance I have with her top theroys she had on what was making her feel ill.But like I said I thought her docs covvered those issues.

She seemed fine the last time I talked to her as well but thats why I was worried.......since the stuff she was experancing was numbness and weekness of the legs and nasuia and dizziness anything could have happened to her in a second..... much more in a few days.
