In this case I can see a point to people being upset about name changes. After all the gimmick of this line is that they are all homages to old characters, and they seem to done a homage to Octane and then used a completely different characters named on him. Weird thing is, I'd have thought they would use the more recently used name "Mega-Octane" from RiD and Universe as a substitute for Octane.

To those who poo-poo the idea of judging a toy on things not intrinsic to the toy, one of the reasons I like Tranformers is the story and characters. If they make a perfectly good toy, but I don't like the story or name, it does detract from my enjoyment, as irrational as that sound. The toys in wave 1 of 2008 Universe are damn near perfect, and there is little to complain about, so we have to stretch and find those few odd things we would have wanted different... Making Onslaught a combiner, Tankor/Octane's name, or whatever.

I was thinking the same thing as well - my brother has a Ferrari 360 model kit that looks almost exactly the same as the Sunstreaker Alt mode. I think its the fact that the front end is very curved (a la Ferrari) whereas Lamborghini's are typically flatter at the front.

It's supposed to be a Lamborghini Gallardo. I don't really see any Ferrari in it, but then again most people think Ferrari's and Lamborghini's look the same anyways.

I'll be grabbing an extra Sunstreaker too. Take off the rocket pack and head and replace with Prowl's head and siren. Paint whiote, go to reprolabels and should have a nice Red Alert.

The Sideswipe mold can be used for RedAlert. Especially that RedAlert is the same mold as Sideswipe. Wait for a Sideswipe repaint of RedAlert instead. You won't regret it!

Oh well gallardos and murcielagos are almost the same anyway. But after searching out a pic of a gallardo I think of the 2 lambos he looks more like a murcielago but he still looks more like a Ferrari than a lambo. It's just something that's rubbed off on me from my brother.

It's safe to say that these 5 have exceeded my expectations, which were high to begin with.

Prowl? My favorite TF of all time looks like the kind of Prowl I have wanted since 1984. I'm intrigued by the the "exciting head transformation" touted in that article and if they include "Highway Patrol" on the paintjob, it should be perfection.

Tankor and Onslaught just look flat out wicked in robot mode! Any criticism of Tankor's alt modes I just don't understand; they both look great, a vast improvement over Astrotrain's phallic train mode.

I'm digging this upgraded Powerglide; his alt mode is true to G1 while his robot mode looks beefier and more menacing than his rather wimpy cartoon/G1 toy depiction.

Sunstreaker sure does look better than the painted photo we saw last week, though I still think he's the weakest of the first wave at this point.

Still, much like my fellow Seibertronians, I cannot stop gushing!

Word. I can only imagine that the people not impressed with these buy nothing less than Masterpieces. What more do you people want?

I don't understand how people can think Sunstreaker is a Ferrari. Its obviously a Lamborghini as he is supposed to be.

There's a reason Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are called the Lambo Brothers. Because they are Lambos.

Yes the headlights are a bit different. but the chasis slope and shape are pretty much there.

Anyway, I'm loving all of them. Sad really that Blitzwing will end up in Animated instead of in this style.

Not that I don't like Animated Blitzwing. I do I like. But he'd look so much more awesome in this style.

I'm probably getting all of them. Definately looks better than the animated toys.

The more I've looked at Onslaught, the more I think I'll get 2 of him and maybe skip on Powerglide.
Onslaught's alt mode isn't totally impressive, but in bot mode,
he looks like a total badass.

I'll definitely get Sunstreaker, Prowl, and Tankor (my favorite of the Deluxes),
but I'm mot excited to see Sideswipe and Galvatron.

Who has some realistic guesses as to the other characters that will end up in wave 2?
I'm hoping for at least one of the Dinobots.

UltraMagnus is very unlikely. He's already in Animated

Galavatron since he's confirmed for Universe, is most likely for Wave 2.

Think Cybertron Jetfire, or Wingsaber. That's Ultra.

does anybody know a rough release schedule for these?given that animated is being held for summer,i would imagine these being held for fall or winter.

Originally it was planned for release in fall, specifically October, but recent news suggests that it will be released in August

how much do Ultra class figures cost?

I predict for Wave 2: Galvatron, Ironhide, Sideswipe, Brawl (They did say that we would get a tankformer), Jazz (C'mon, he needs a Classics/Universe update), and Hound.

And for Wave 3 (If it even goes that far): Ratchet, Bluestreak, Smokescreen, Vortex, Swindle, and Blast-off.

Yup. He looks more Ferrari than Lambo. But that's ok. The point is, he's an exotic sportscar.

Like Bumblebee, from Beetle to Peugot-Suzuki crossbreed.

At least, Prowl retains the Z alt mode. Only upgraded to current model of Z.

but look at the wide low windshield, the relatively short bonnet, the distinctive side-windows. Looks very Lamborghini to me.

I also think that Trailbreaker, the rest of the Combaticons, Brawn, Blitzwing, Cyclonus, Runabout/Runamuck, Wheeljack, and Kup will all be released in the Classics 2.0 line.

Did the original toyline and cartoon have a ferarriformer? I can't seem to recall, but I think there might have been one, but the name just isn't coming to me.

P.S. I could be wrong about the character with a Ferarri alt. mode.
