I was just wondering who is still here from the bad old days of rampant spam, Roddy's binges and Spengs and Co.'s mis-adventures, etc.

I was here in the spring of 2001, but due all the crashes of the old board (remember those?) we kept having to re-register, so now it says I've been around since 2002. I left for a few years in 2004 because of the STFU assholes, and returned in 2006 sporadically and finally a couple of years ago regularly after they were shit-canned 5 years too late. I do like it the way it is now, but I do miss some of the more carefree ways of old.

I read a bit, and surface at times, but don't often post. Some of it is just getting away from internet drama (not just here but other sites as well) and from external problems.

I just came to the conclusion that I don't want to get into arguements over a hobby, and that my real time issues need my attention more that arguing over minute details of cartoons and toys.

But I do log in and check news.

I don't go back to the earliest days, but I remember UCC...which I fondly miss.

Eh...it got out of control.

First of all people were spamming it insanely, then taking shots at each other, and I think the final straw was while we were having fun, we were posting some edgy captions to the pics posted, which sort of runs contray to the image Seibertron wanted to put forth.

After all this is a toy related web site with many children wandering in. The last thing Ryan needed was backlash over site supported content...I think this was the nail in the After Dark forum as well.

It was all likely for the best...but I do miss the UCC.

I seem to remember people saying this for years about 'Before Carly' before it was taken down. I always thought it was because it only got updated about once every 8 months toward the end so the attitude was 'aw screw it.'

It really hit the fan when Don thought it cool to sign up to provide us information, but instead flamed indiscriminately, thus got banned by Maximus Prime.

Well, him and several other staff members had a dispute with management. As the story goes, rather than work the problems out they had, they all just left. They then formed their own little Kool Kidz Klub that several members joined to keep in touch with them. While the idea was nice to begin with, it quickly turned into a BASH-Seibertron/Ryan Klub. Every topic seemed to come right back to that. Some members didn't like that, and then Grumpy Old Man Syndrome kicked in. If you weren't with them, you were against them. So they then decided to purge their Klub and make it UBER-EXCLUSIVE.

Multiple flame wars erupted with their Klub and members they purged, me being one of them. Things escalated, I made an ass out of myself by posting personal information of one of the members, that member threatened legal action against Ryan so I lost my position as a staffer here on Seibertron.com. Eventually, I was forgiven and rejoined the staff. To my knowledge, the members of the Kool Kidz Klub keep to themselves and occasionally poke their head in here when threads like this are posted, mostly to attempt to lure people they deem worthy away from Seibertron.com to their Klub.

I'm sure you would probably be deemed worthy, if you really want to get in touch with them. I'm pretty sure Mob can give you the contact info, since he's a member.

With all due respect, I'm pretty sure there were ulterior motives for former staff members versus those that weren't staff that joined them there. That may have been your primary reason, but it wasn't theirs. But of course, this is mutual speculation. You'd have to ask them themselves.

Regardless though, I'm satisfied with the outcome of all the shenanigans as I'm staff again and I no longer see any of them here. You can go ahead and tell them Fender says, "Hi" though.
