thats an awesome idea! not only can i totally buy that because he never even transformed in the show (so he can look like anything in bot mode) but... what the hell! i never even knew that existed!

Accidentally.

I believe he was that colour in the episode because Grapple was initially meant to be in season one. By the time he was dropped the episode was finished and nothing could be done about it. At least I think that's how it happenedrobotmel wrote:![]()
That's the episode I was thinking of but I felt sure he was green?![]()
Thanks for the reminder about Movie Mudflap, I had forgotten all about him.
He will be my repurposed Classics Hauler!

Yotsuyasan wrote:I don't do a lot of repurposing... Most of my figures are happily representing who they are supposed to be. There are a few exceptions, however.
I have three figures from the movie toyline that I use. Bludgeon:
Seaspray:
and Mindwarp (pardon the quite old photo on this one):
Of them, Mindwarp probably works the least... but eh, for a movie-verse toy, he ain't bad, so I'll keep him 'till Hasbro does a new one in the Generations line. (If they ever do.)
Other then that, the only other two I can think of is Booster X-10 subbing for Lazerbeak (pictured here with some friends):
and Animated Arcee, with a new custom head and guns, subbing for her "Classics" self:
Arcee should soon be getting replaced, however. (Just shipped my Source Stack yesterday!) Also, if the announced upcoming Legends Buzzsaw is any good, and if it gets the obvious repaint, perhaps I will be replacing Booster X-10. (And finally having a "Classics" Buzzsaw, too!)
RiddlerJ wrote:There's a Legends Buzzsaw coming?
RiddlerJ wrote:Well, just for giggles. Let’s check the Classics (Classics/Universe/RTS/Generations) list to see who we have and who we still need.
Going by toy release year, which characters have a Classics toy and which still need one.
1984
Optimus Prime
Bumblebee
Cliffjumper
Brawn
Huffer
Gears
Windcharger
Jazz
Prowl
Bluestreak
Sunstreaker
Sideswipe
Hound
Trailbreaker
Ironhide
Ratchet
Wheeljack
Mirage
Megatron
Starscream
Thundercracker
Skywarp
Soundwave (FOC toy officially repurposed as G1 by Hasbro)
Laserbeak
Buzzsaw (Botcon release only)
Rumble (United release only)
Frenzy (United release only)
Ravage
All the Autobots are accounted for. The Decepticons are a little trickier. Buzzsaw, Rumble, and Frenzy are all available but in somewhat expensive versions. Soundwave is a repurpose unless one wants to stretch things and use the Device Label version which is also an expensive option.
1985
Warpath
Seapray
Beachcomber
Powerglide
Cosmos
Skids
Grapple
Hoist
Inferno
Red Alert
Smokescreen
Perceptor
Blaster
Grimlock
Slag (minicon version only)
Swoop (minicon version only)
Snarl
Sludge
Whirl
Roadbuster
Topspin
Twintwist
Jetfire
Omega Supreme
Dirge
Thrust
Ramjet
Blitzwing
Astrotrain
Shrapnel
Bombshell
Kickback (FOC toy officially repurposed as G1 by Hasbro)
Chop Shop
Venom
Barrage
Ransack
Hook
Scrapper
Scavenger
Long Haul
Mixmaster
Bonecrusher
Shockwave (FOC toy officially repurposed as G1 by Hasbro)
A few more gaps in the '85 line. The Insecticon and Dinobot lineups are especially bare with only a very few satisfactory toys filling the gap. Seaspray is a grey issue with some Hasbro reps insinuating that the ROTF was meant to be the G1 guy.
1986
Eject (TFCC release only)
Rewind (TFCC release only)
Ramhorn
Steeljaw
Wheelie
Pipes
Tailgate
Swerve
Hubcap (ROTF toy officially repurposed as G1 by Hasbro)
Outback (Botcon release only)
Hot Rod
Kup
Blurr
Wreck-Gar
Springer
Sandstorm
Broadside
Air Raid
Skydive
Fireflight
Slingshot (Henkei minicon and Unite Warriors release only)
Silverbolt
Groove
First Aid
Blades
Streetwise
Hot Spot
Rodimus Prime
Ultra Magnus
Sky-Lynx
Metroplex
Ratbat
Cyclonus
Scourge
Octane
Runabout (TFCC release only)
Runamuck (TFCC release only)
Sharkticon (Botcon release only, no official version of Gnaw)
Dead End
Wildrider (Gentei version only)
Breakdown
Dragstrip
Motormaster
Brawl
Swindle
Vortex
Blast Off
Onslaught
Razorclaw
Rampage
Tantrum
Headstrong
Divebomb
Galvatron
Trypticon
Most of the ’86 Autobots are accounted for. The notable exceptions include some cassettes and minbots and the occasional odd case like Broadside and Sky Lynx. The Decepticons fare worse with a few noteworthy omissions and a good number of weak versions for other characters such as the Legends Trypticon and the Energon repaints of the Combaticons.
We won’t even go into the later years as there just too many gaps to even make a decent list.

For the animal cassettes, the FOC disks will do for now, especially for Buzzsaw, Laserbeak and Ratbat. SDCC Prime Shockwave is a much better fit than his FOC version, and YOTS Omega Supreme has the right colors to be a G1 stand in, especially with the MakeToys add-on kit

Duke of Luns wrote:Now what do folks think about Cybertron Scattorshot:
as G1 Longtooth:
It's an odd stretch, but here's why I think it works: The colors are pretty similar to the Pretender shell. The alt. mode, while not exact, is evocative of the armored vehicle of the G1 inner robot. In robot mode, he has goggles on his head, reminding you the Pretender shell has a scanning device over one eye. However, one of the biggest factors is the double barrel missiles he sports. Kinda like walrus tusks.
Whaddya think?

CHMS Deep Cover repurposed as Neo Classics Deluxe Scamper!
(I might pop the blue head off and replace with spare black Sideswipe head if I can find it?)
Yotsuyasan wrote:I suppose it kind of works... But I am confused why you'd need to repurpose a figure for Scamper when we not long ago actually got an official one?
Unless you are just that desperate to have him as a Deluxe class figure rather than a Legends class one?

That's a pity, they're all kinds of awesome!
