$100US for a reissue the came out at $40 a couple of years ago?!
What a joke, BBTS just mashes it's fat sweaty palm on the keypad to come up with some of it's rediculous prices I think.
You and me both. Yes, they're dependable. Yes, for the most part they're trustworthy.
But their pricing is ridiculous, the Pile Of Loot is just another way to make more money off of you, and their shipping issues. Part of the reason they raised their prices was due to flat rate shipping just killing their wallets. Well, now that it's been abolished in favor of a much more expensive set of services that don't provide quite the same quality...the prices of the items themselves should be dropping like rocks.
Plus, I purchased a figure from one of their clearance sales back in 2005, and it said nothing about the level of quality. Just what the item was, and how much.
So I order, it arrives, and it turns out the box had not only been opened, but it had been smashed in a slight bit. No, I'm not a box collector, and yes I'll be throwing the packaging out, but it's the principle of it, you know? At least tell me up front that I paid this price for a damaged package and that I'm not the first to open it (which is part of the thrill to it all for me.)
I didn't return it because it would end up being more hassle than it was worth, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
A friend of mine used one of their clearances as well and he also received a damaged package, though his was much much worse. He ordered the E-Hobby Insecticons, and the plastic bubble was ripped so bad, one of them was coming out, and partially taped into the box. (Now you know UPS didn't do that, the carton was still sealed from the moment BBTS shipped it. Because their "Fragile Do Not Drop" orange stickers were still on the seams.)
It's a shame, because they are generally honest, and they are 100% dependable, but with the clearance sale items, shipping costs going through the roof, and prices of the items themselves....it's just not worth it.
Especially when places like Digital Toys are still quite affordable, completely dependable, and 100% honest.

funny when a sexy sounding lady asks, "g1, energon, or cybertron, baby~" ok, she didn't say the 'baby' part, but she did sound sexy, hahaha. but that was her response when i inquired about ultramag. i gave her the low-down about the walmart thing and she looked up the site as we spoke. her reaction when she found the link was almost fan-like:
"this can't be! g1 magnus is no longer in production, the next closest thing was the commemorative reissue, which was exclusive to TRU and that was priced at around thirty dollars. i can't find anything in the system regarding any Ultra Magnuss that were shipped to walmart. wow, this is just so bizarre! hang on a minute."
at this point, i was put on hold while she apparently referenced something or someone -
"i honestly don't know what to tell you. oh wow, it's heavy and the shipping box is huge.. this is just getting weirder and weirder. i don't know what to tell you.. i'm seriously stumped, and i'm sorry to say this, but i can't help you out..."
i then asked, "you think it could be masterpiece magnus?"
she responded, "no.. you think? no way, (laugh)."
but anyway, i chopped it up with her for a quick sec all the while mouthing to my co-workers (this is so cool! this is so cool!) and really, she was uber cool to talk to. i was shocked that she knew her stuff, and when asked, she told me that she was into transformers before working there (A/S/L? jk lol).
on another note, i asked about release dates for the 2nd wave of movie related TFs, and she said any day now. so we should start seeing them filter into our local stores pretty soon. also, she said TRU soundwave is still going strong and that there aren't any immediate plans to stop production (woot!)
so here's hoping for the best! (crosses fingers)
