If I didn't have the *new* 3DS XL already, I would have bought that Pokémon version!! I want the swappable faceplates. And the power button that doesn't easily get pressed. And the Super Famicom colored buttons. And. AND!! :BOOM:
Yeah, that NN3DS was all around a good deal.

Also, had you bought it, what faceplate would you use? Personally, I'm a Charizard man.
Charizard until I bought one of the many Legend of Zelda themed ones from Japan. I'd also really like a Mega Man themed one but I don't think they have one yet.
Those are pretty cool as well. I've never played that much Mega Man, but I've loved the Legend of Zelda ever since I got the Wind Waker HD for free along with my copy of Mario Kart 8.

I was mentioning to Cary how WWHD is my favorite LoZ (modern at least). Still can't beat my old NES cart of The Legend of Zelda though, although it is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry close.

Did you end up getting the DLC for Mario Kart 8 with the Hyrule Circuit?

Me and my brother each bought one of the packs. I found it kinda neat how Hyrule Circuit replaced the coins with ruppees.

Yep.

Speaking of music, Music Park (or Melody Motorway in Europe and Australia) is one of my all time favorite race tracks in the series.

From Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS? That they remade on 8 for Wii U? That drives me insane on the piano turns on 200cc?! Yeah. Not a bad track :D

That'd be the one. Man, as much as nostalgia wants me to think that Mario Kart Wii (my first video game ever) was the best, there's no denying that 8 reigns supreme.

Manx that kinda feels like a Macross ripoff.

Not a bad thing.
It's funny you mention that. I was listening to various Transformers themes from Japan and they all seem to be very similar to other Japanimation music depending on the era. And Macross was one of them!

I'm really glad I never got fully into the toys of Macross 'cause holy shirt I'd be broke. I find it weird that I didn't as I prefer jets over ground vehicles... :-?

Let it also be known that there are longer versions of that Headmasters theme and higher quality video of the animation, but it is hard to find ones with the lyrics/english translation.

Tell me about it. I have over 1200 bucks worth of Yamato, Arcadia, and Bandai Macross figures, all in storage because I'm terrified my kids could break one of them. Its only 7 figures. :(

Which game are you talking about? TMNT: The Arcade Game I assume? It really was a good port to the NES. Them 4-player arcade cabinets were the best. If only money grew on trees... :-?

Couch co-op is the only form of multiplayer I like. I spent a ton of time with TMNT: Turtle in Time on the SNES. The banging soundtrack put it head and shoulders above the arcade version (of the same name). I still to this day will go listen to the entire thing on youtube, youtube I say... you saw this coming

Argh, so many good tracks, I had a hard time picking just one, so I went with Big Apple 3am, because it's the first level and it's a riff on the TMNT theme song. Win win!

Cobotron wrote:8-bit for life, y'all!
Yeah, what this guy said. I'm probably a little more partial to the 16-bit era though. Just a little spiffier! But damn I love some hand drawn sprites from the 8 & 16-bit eras.

So where are we going meet to play some old NES/SNES/SMS/Genesis games? Seriously?

Yeah Cary, the original TMNT arcade game. I have YET to play TURTLES IN TIME!!!

That is some awesome tunage. And couch co-op is still the way I like to play, although I do rally the troops and have an arcade day at least once a year. I have two arcades in the area that have a BUNCH of classic games ('80s/'90s) so we hit them up with a good chunk of change each.

8-bit to 16-bit is where all of the memories are. Rose colored glasses and such. Good times.

In my fantasy I quit my job and open a used game store/arcade with other geeky stuff like action figs and comics.

To the best of my knowledge there is one one independent game store left in our area (curse you gamestop) and their inconvenient mall location has a sad arcade it it. Outside of that I can't thnk of any arcades in the area.

See a need, fill a need and grow some bawls.

In my immediate area (15 mile radius) there aren't any independent game stores. Bump that to 30 miles and I think there are 4 total. At least there was the last time I got on a classic game buying kick. I probably have 5-10 arcades in the 15 mile radius, they aren't open year-round though.

A classic stuff store would be cool. My old comic shop had a few arcade games, one was a 4 player X-Men Arcade Game cabinet. Ballin'.

Yeah, I did. Too many tabs open. I could have just deleted the post, but then you get that 404 error when you click the link in the email.

That annoys me when that happens (dang staffers) :-x

I know that sting all to well, when you have something in hand and walk away to only regret it moments later. Speaking of, finally nabbed me an Animated Blurr from your boys at TFL. Those guys rock!
