Well everything I had seen and heard about Animated up to the point of it's debut had left me unimpressed. But I was willing to give it a chance.

And I gave it a chance, and i'm still not impressed.

The animation style I simply dislike. For humans it's fine, but not TF's. It simply doesn't work in my eyes.

The attempt to tie it into G1 with the reference to the "Great War" and snippets of the G1 cartoon was nothing but a giant fanwank to get a bunch of G1 fanboys excited. There is simply no way this could tie into G1 at all. There were just way too many plot holes throughout the premiere to connect Animated to G1.

Overall, not impressed and doubt I will be at all with this series/line.

Overall, I thought it was quite refreshing based on past "Transformers series"--if you can really call them that--but this new Animated series is pretty different for things like not having general transformation sequences like in Energon. It has a great superhero feel to it, not just the Justice League like animation but the whole aspect that these alien robotic beings are good hearted and are willing to save strangers. Another thing I found really amusing was that not all of the Autobots could fly, adds complexity to their abilities.

Did anyone else notice how Prowl looks like a Policeman, like the ones that were on the bikes. It was a nice subtle detail I found interesting...kinda like a Cop Ninja.

YES! Finally someone gets what I'm saying, though more negatively put. I loved what I saw, unlike Burn.

No offense to anyone.

Well, I finally got to see it, and I really liked the story but still hate the crappy animated style. Still, it's watchable and very fun. Only cons for me were that Prime is not big as Megatron, they're not on the same mature level, I don't like Prime's young voice, and the crappy animation style.

I absolutely love this Starscream, he's G1 with a bit of G1 Megatron attitude, at least for me.

The little girl won me over, but still a little annoying. The humans are OK, they look weird but not so annoying as in other TF toons.

I wish Soundwave, Thundercracker, and Skywarp were there.

Only thing I don't get is why tie with G1? These are new characters with the same names too, don't make sense to me either, confuses me, but whatever I guess that will play out somehow...

I still hate the toy line style, but I have to wait for the release to see if they're worth collecting.

Bottom line, the bloody ugly animation style make my eyes hurt, but at least the plots are worth it, and great characters to adore again.

Just watched the premiere...good stuff. Starscream was just what I'd hoped he'd be. Magnus was a badass, Prowl was a sweet ninja, and Sari didn't make me want to kill myself. Looking good...not sure about Blitzwing's third 'singing' face. The rest was great, though.

personally, i'm giving this series a chance, since this is the second time the transfomers were drastically re-imagined (not counting in RID, or the Unicron Trilogy) since the beast era. only after a few years did that series catch on, this series might not be the best there is, but it does fit what the demographic is after these days, a hybrid mix between anime and western style.

and prime sounding just like the batman is alright by me.

"I haven't had this much fun watching Transformers since I was a kid."
-Crowbot @ The Padded Cell, quoted as a mirrored sentiment

First off, like I said at BotCon, Transformers Animated is the best thing to happen to Transformers since G1 created the mythos. It is refreshing, not steeped in any sort of preset conceptions of what should be happening, beyond the Megatron/Starscream dynamic.

Everything has changed, yet so much remains the same. G1 homages were running rampant throughout the episode, in so many ways.

I like how Ultra Magnus has, essentially, switched roles with Prime. Not only is he older, more experienced ad Prime's superior, he is the Autobot Supreme Commander.

Sentinel Prime and Optimus Prime both being under his command seems to make me think "Prime" as far as TF: Ani is concerned is a Subordinate Command rank. Unless it is actually just a name this time round.

I laughed so hard at Blitzwing, who has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will be my fave Decepticon, "before I...express my feelings in song!". Also, his second voice, the one with the red face, sounds so much like Schwarzenegger impersonations it causes autolove. I love me some Arny!

Anyone else notice the absolute size difference between Autobots and Decepticons?
Starscream was huge!

And, I am not ashamed to say either of these two things:
1) I like Sari.
2) I cried when Prime died, I was balling my eyes out, even though I knew he'd come back. It just hit the switch, the same one that makes me cry watching the Movie when Ironhide and Prime die.

I'm with you, both on loving the art style to death and hating some of the ugly kids.

Also, anyone else notice Spike, Carly and Daniel in the beginning (I don't feel like reading through all 17 pages to get that answer...)

I still have mixed feelings about the series at this point. I'm going to give it a chance though.

The Spike, Daniel, & Carly cameo was cool though. Too bad they didn't fit into the storyline somehow even in a small way.

Nothing's changed there. By the end of it they'll have made Ultra Magnus an embarrassment constantly giving Optimus orders that Optimus constantly disobeys because "he knows better" and at the end of the day he'll be the hero and Magnus will have to acknowledge him as his better, or at the very least, equal.

Thus making Optimus Prime the greatest Autobot hero ever. Again.

And that's really going to **** me off .... because I had my hopes up that for once Magnus would be able to step out of the shadow of Optimus.

Well, I'm not as certain as you that they'll go that route.

To make fans happy, to make the claim that up to a certin point both universe's shared a common past, and most likely to start up a Buzz for the new show......which if that was the plan worked 100%.

Proof of that is in how this debate continues.

Think this way...if the continuities were connected then how do you explain how the new Optimus Prime [that was studing history tapes of the past war] and the other Autobots....not having a clue as to what human life was????Or that there were other forms of life in the universe other then the kind that came from the "All Spark"???

Predaprince wrote:No, it wasn't vague. It contained G1 pre-Earth seekers in their "triangular" jet forms as well as Decepticon drones from "War Dawn".
This supports the parallel dimension to G1 theory that a few people already mentioned. Perhaps, the focal point of both the G1 universe and this universe is when Megatron first appears and Orion Pax is rebuilt as Optimus, but in the Animated universe Ultra Magnus drives Megatron and the Cons away from getting rid of the Allspark making it so that this Prime didn't face Megs like it happened in G1.

Its still pretty vague.Even if we could name the episodes that the footage is from we cant tell how it pretains to this universe.

G1 pre-Earth seekers design has been used in other serries since the G1 toon so its use in this show doesnt really support any theroy.

The only thing we can really say is that both universes share a simular past. And thats is true of all the TF shows.

Jaz-Zen wrote:Yeah, you're right. I missed that the first time I watched it. However, I'm wondering if, perhaps, Optimus and Sentinel are related, like brothers. And, perhaps, "Prime" is their last name, not their rank? Just an idea. ;)^

Guess thats possible but I get the feeling that "Prime" is a tital like commander or captain.

Wondering how everyone liked the new Transformers: Animated that permiered on Wednesday Dec 26th. What a silly question of course you did.

Overall I enjoyed it. My wife who is not a huge cartoon fan also enjoyed it. (Which rarely happens).
Couple things did bother me.
1. The darkness of the Decepticons. It was really hard to get a real good look at them. Except for Starscream who they did show during the day.
2. I was suprised that they made Optimus Prime a flunky. This is the first time I can remember him not being the strong leader of the autobots.
3. I love the little girl. I just hope she does not become to annoying. That would be a shame.

What I think will be great about the show.
1. Starscream (always been one of my favorites) I loved. They did a good job establishing his scientific knowledge and that he is out for power. If you are in his way he will try to destroy you.
2. The show I thought was fast paced. It held my interest from start to finish.
3. It will take a while but I do like the art style. I do think though they could have made Optimus a little bigger.

My favorite characters out of the gate are Starscream for the decepticons and Ratchet. I look forward to the toy line.

i really liked the show, and was surprised at how non kiddy most of it was. the animation style aside, nearly everything involving the autobots and decepticons was serious, with a couple of lighter moments here and there. that kid didnt even bother me too much. far less annoying than i was worried about, and she will be able to advance the plot with her weird relationship with the allspark, and give us a human perspective into transformer life. it seems like its set in an alternate universe future of g1, where they never left cybertron and the autobots won the war.

initially i thought very little of the idea of prime as a rookie leader and academy wash out, but although he has very little in common with g1 prime, hes maybe the most interesting character on the show at the moment, and has alot of depth and history to explore. hes obviously very skilled, but made a huge skrew up and along with everyone else, has no confidence in himself.

bumblebee seems like hes a combination of g1 hotrod and movie bumblebee which i love, prowl is fairly g1, but with some ninja loner mixed in. which actually doesnt seem out of place at all. ratchet is g1 kup, only with a darker view on life and probably an even worse history. and bulkhead seems fairly lighthearted, maybe like a young trailbreaker.

at this point its impossible to really comment on the decepticons, other than they all seemed pretty cool. starscream is excellently done, nearly everything he said and how he said it was very similar to how g1 starscream sounded. how he put the emphasis on certian words, and how he worded his sentences, id say tom kenny spent a bit of time listeing to how chris latta delivered his lines. he seems like g1 starscream, only with a power boost, and more motivation. he did seem to respect megatron to a degree, or at least his reputation becuase he used no sarcasm when calling him the "great megatron" to the autobots. and megatron seems like a combination of g1 and movie megatron.

animation actually isnt too bad, and other than the oddly moving car modes i can see myself really getting behind it. writing was brilliant, its already blown the unicron trilogy out of the water, and could potentially be as deep and interesting as beast wars. so far im very impressed with the show, and im really anxious to see more.

There's a theory going around that Sari is a robot. Have you guys heard this? Apparently because she "had a conversation" with the Allspark, her dad wasn't too concerned with her being with the autobots, he's an old unmarried guy with a kid that is sheltered from other children, etc. It's not my theory but it would be interesting, huh?
