Possibly, but to throw this random theory too with the planet alignment into the mix is a bit odd in my opinion. But we can only wait and see.

After watching that new episode...HELL YES!!! That's the Optimus I know and love! Take sh!t from no one, kicking ass, and ripping faces off!!! I hope Optimus stays this way!
But a major problem with the episode. There was no build up to it at all. It just happened. There was no mention of this prophecy anywhere else in the series, but then they decide to shove it in our faces at the last second. This would have been such a cool build up! Hell, if this prophecy is what carried the show from the start, it may very well have been better than Animated IMO. Sadly, it's not. But It's good to see Optimus back to his "Gimme yo' face!" or "We will kill them all", or "You die!!!", movie self! That just made my week!!!
Oh, and if you watch the part where Megatron and Optimus fight from the part after Ratchet realises that regular energon will cure dark energon, if you watch from there all the way through with this song playing from 1:17 to the very end, the music matches perfectly! Except for the last few seconds.

It's on YouTube now.
Episode 23 -
ZOMG! ZOMG! It's starting with the season 2 promo trailer prophecy narration!!! Maybe now we'll finally find out what it all means!
Ratchet's mention of how Optimus was "different"before he was made a Prime is an understatement. Optimus, as Orion Pax, was a young dreamer with aspirations and ideals of his own. Now, he's a walking stoic who, while his spark may be in good nature, is almost completely uninteresting.
Though, Ratchet's comparison of Optimus to Jack is VERY on the mark.
The way Megatron is acting in this episode makes me think that this is the beginning of the season 1 finale arc.
Both Megatron and Bumblebee just fly/drive to the battle instead of Bridging themselves there. One question: Why?
Is Raf... still functional?
Ah, wait, yes he is... barely.
Why do I get the suspicious feeling that Raf is going to undergo a sort... "reconstruction" (hint hint) in Ratchet's lab?
It's the mysterious villain and his volcano! But I don't see any horns. So, non-Unicron options are still open.
Then again, maybe it really is Unicron, given Megatron's dialogue mere seconds later. Though, it's also possible that Megs could be mistaken, since he doesn't outright say that this villain is, without a doubt, Unicron. He could just be confusing this villain's face for that of Unicron, what with the similar beards and all.
Arcee is awesome as ever, calming Bee down.
Optimus: "Megatron must be destroyed!" - So much for wanting to reach any good left within in his brother. I dunno, maybe Exiles will provide further look into Megatron's decent into darkness.
The cursed "One shall stand, one shall fall" line is repeated here AGAIN! Come up with more original ultimatum, PLEASE!
While impressive, I sadly find the Prime/Megs battle to be quite unengaging for two reasons. One, I'm more concerned about what's gonna happen to Raf. And two, I'm MUCH more interested in that volcano that's connected to the new villain. I mean, this fight is just delaying the revelation of that volcano's nature. I wanna what its deal is!
I see a potential toy redeco in Megatron's purple glowing state.
Okay, so that volcano is full of Dark Energon. One question: Why?
TO BE CONTINUED... yet still a very good episode.

Omly for Megatron, though. Where were you when he said to the Vehicons, "Stand down and be spared!" It's only Megatron he'll kill. He's still willing to give a chance for surrender to everyone else.

Okay, taking notes as I go along. Kinda breaks up the pacing, but that's my fault:
-Wow, okay, so we already start with Optimus basically concluding that the End Times are about to come to Earth. Not starting us off easy on this one.
-The kids hack into conspiracy-nut websites to alter information. Ratchet appears to like funny cat pictures.
-"Hey Optimus, wanna see something funny?" "No." Optimus being completely deadpan about it is funnier than anything.
-According to Ratchet, Optimus was, at one point, a lot like Jack. he was already working well on character development, let's see how this goes.
-Fowler captured an image of Soundwave, and includes a list of all the things he's stolen. Including...a tesseract? Okay, I know the Transformers faced off with the Avengers before, but I didn't think they were trying to tie themselves into the new movie...
-"And you know I cannot condone a single human casualty." Er...okay, I was trying to pass off the human deaths before, but this is straight-up hypocrisy.
-And Raph is down due to Dark Energon poisoning. Fortunately, Ratchet figures out that normal Energon (Blood of Primus) can combat and cancel out Dark Energon. (Blood of Unicron) Going to use this against Megatron, perhaps?
-I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love how expressive the TFs can be in this.Bee's fit of rage, Megatron's evil smirk, Starscream's tendency to show abject terror. It's just fantastic.
-You wanted to see Optimus doing something? Here you go. Even better is that he didn't just decide it's time to kick ass and take names, he did so only when concluding there's no possible way the war can end by negotiation. Violence only when negotiation fails, that is the mark of a true leader.
-"One shall stand," "One shall fall!" I actually like it better when Megatron delivers the second half of that...
-Did anyone else think "Equilibrium" when watching Megatron and Optimus have their awesome fight?
-Um...yeah, it's a multi-part episode...and it's gonna be a big one. I think it is Unicron they're building towards. Everyone's trying to come up with some kind of alternative, but come on, doomsday prophecy, Megatron hearing Unicron's thoughts, trying desperately to get his huge chunk of Blood of Unicron back. Who knows, maybe Megatron had to cut a few deals to get that first sample?
-This episode was...freaking amazing. Can't wait to see Part 2. Ooh, I hope it's a four-part season finale.

The problem with it being Unicron is that it feels way too soon for them to use Unicron (the end all be all evilest villain of Transformers) only in the first/second season when there are several more seasons to come afterward.

Not like in G1 post-movie, where he was just a floating head who occasionally tries to pull shenanigans every now and then...

You're basing this part on what, exactly? When I say it's Unicron, I'm basing it on Megatron blatantly saying it's Unicron. So I'd like to know what evidence you have that this is a new villain. because those pictures look a helluva lot like Unicron to me. The eyes are even purple, which is indicative of someone who has the Blood of Unicron.

If it is Unicron (which, at this point, is very likely), then he will be a "new villain" to this show, since he himself hasn't played any real role in this show, nor has he made any real appearances in this show, until now. Regardless of being an old character, he'd still be a "new" villain due to being "new" to this show.
As for why I'm not (yet) referring to him as "Unicron", is because I really don't want them to use Unicron so soon in this show. Since it's never outright stated that the face Megs saw was absolutely Unicron (it's only heavily implied, but not confirmed), there's the tiniest window of hope for it to not be him. But, I will call him Unicron as soon as they confirm it 100% on screen. Call me stubborn, but that's how I roll.

I might have a theory regarding the mention of Exo-Suits from the Botcon Prime Panel.
Now we know Raf gets seriously injured during the fighting. My guess the bots were fighting and one fell ontop of Raf.
Sort of like Generation 1 were the Bots were fighting during the Hate Plague and they fell on the Scientist lady and she was badly injured.
Seems similar but I dont think that Prime Exsosuits will be the same as Generation 1 will be.
So my theory about a multipart story ending for Season 1 has been shot but the episodes starting from Energon Roid Rage with Ratchet up all seem to be interconnected like a multipart story arch. They just dont say prt 1, 2, or 3 so on but they are interconnected.
I still have high hopes about Dreadwing showing up if not at the ending of Season 1 he will definitatly be in Season 2 earliest episodes.
From what I gather of Dreadwing he is older than Starscream more driven evil almost on the same level as Megatron. But the next question remains how will Dreadwing be introduced, what will his Alt.Mode be we know it will be some sort of Flier but what kind.
My guess is that Dreadwing will be brought in to bring in Starscream.
What is the deal with Prime here were are 5 episodes with no Starscream in it.
Also no Jack but we have had Raf and Miko but no Jack.
I cant wait but it sucks for such as long wait period but my theory on this is cause Season 2 begins in November will the end of November so they wanna stretch out Prime until then.
I see the Dinobots early as the 1st couple of episodes in Season also a few new decipticons such as Dreadwing.
It is shaping up to be a really awesome ending to Season 1 but will more than likely be a cliffhanger big time cause we are getting season 2 this November.
I hope they end it good like the mini-series deal were the 1st Space Bridge blew up be epic like that was. So far from what I read about I dont think I will be disappointed.
For now I will play my new game Deus EX Human Revolution for my PS3 and watch my Thundercats.
This show is getting more and more awesome every episode!
Optimus has finally had enough, Arcee has learned her lesson (and thus helped Bumblebee), Knock Out and Airachnid think Megatron is losing it and a new villain is coming. And it's not yet even season two.
Apparently Teletoon is going to air episode 24 too. Season 2 is supposed to air in November, so there will probably be a long break before new episodes (unless Teletoon does not air the last three episodes of season 1).

I've heard there will be 26 episodes, but that's what's listed on several websites. So who knows.

Nope. Megatron stumbled on Bumblebee and shot him. Bumblebee was fine, but Raf ended up getting a surge of Dark Energon.

Eh, I wouldn't bother, Shadowman. There's really no point in discussing much of anything with him, since he doesn't (can't?) really stick to one subject, and supposedly hasn't seen the episode since he (once told me that he) can't stream videos on his computer.

I do think Megatron's being controlled, but only so far as ideas and instructions. He's still in full control, he's just got Unicron telling him what to do.
