Possibly a repaint of one of the Stunticons. Awesome?
:-?
You never know, with Hasbro creating moulds with the intent of a repaint or two and a version getting some promotion first (looking at you CW Optimus), it is entirely possible the mould marked for the Stunticon release is being promoted the same way?

What I mean to say is despite the Stunticon version coming first, Hasbro may have marked the same mould as Ironhide but improved sales will come by releasing Ironhide later knowing fans will also purchase the same mould a second time! ;)

Would note be the first time (cough altenators silerstreak cough generations dreadwing cough)

And I am actually hoping for this. It would be fun to now look at earlier pictures of the stunticons and guess who could berepainted as who.

I will say this, the altmodes work really well for the characters announced.

Dragstrip redecoed as Mirage is perfect and accurate.

Breakdown as Prowl works for vehicle mode and harkens back to RID Prowl.

They look the same:

Image

Not too happy that this means the chest will be all wrong.

And it will be even worse with Ironhide and Sunstreaker if they end up being redecos of Deadend and "Wildrider" respectively. Actually, this is probably why Wildrider is a pickup truck and not a sleek car. It's so he can be redecoed as Ironhide.

What is too bad about this is that for those particular autobots, one of their most defining design traits is their chest. It's what seperates Sunstreaker from Sideswipe (aside from colors of course) for crying out loud. And since the connector peices are located there, we wont get the windowpane Ironhide chest or the carhood chest for Prowl.

You know, writing all this down has kinda made me certain I wont buy them, if they are indeed redecos of the stunticons. I will stick to simply getting Menasor and all his parts.

Actually, I see Breakdown as Sunstreaker as in G1 he, like his brother Sideswipe, is a Lamborghini as well, just a customised one with the engine exposed. Prowl and Ironhide, well... Now that I think about it, Streetwise and First Aid would be better matches for them, especially given the vehicle mode resembling Prowl's and Ratchet's.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Looking for:
- TR Furos (Hardhead's head) and Crashbash (lost him :()

I know recently the Fansproject augmented Bruticus has been seeing a lot of hate, but I'm still quite happy with it. So a hypothetical Combiner Wars Bruticus would have to be an absolute thing of perfection to get me to upgrade.

(And I do feel less hypocritical about this one then I do about earlier in the thread when I said I'd be passing up on the official Menasor, as at least in this case, three fifths of the team is official figures!)

Bring on the Defensor, though! I need a good Autobot team for Bruticus to be paired off against! Other then Devastator, who in his time was unique as a gestalt, I do prefer my gestalts to be in pairs of opposing Autobot & Decepticon teams.

But... but... FansProject Bwuticus is so cute and wittle...

No contest here, Bruticus may be almost as tall, but there's no mass to him at all, having such a solid voyager class torso really makes a difference.

Nice to see that the new Combiners are as tall as Armada Tidal Wave.

As for little? Yes, he is a bit short compared to the other two (third party) gestalts I own, but not so short that he doesn't still look good with them. And given that Combiner Wars seems to use a similar scale, I suspect the same shall continue to hold true.

Image

(Any photos I have of all three together come from my Fansproject Stunticons review, hence why Menasor is front and center. I have the three of them in vehicle mode at the moment, and don't feel like transforming them all right now, or else I'd take a photo of them with Bruticus more front and center... But the above photo should still give an idea.)

Really, in my mind, the only advantage a Combiner Wars set of Combaticons would have would be in being able to maintain the Scramble City style functionality with other Combiner Wars gestalts. But honestly, it isn't as if I'd ever plan to display them with team members swapped around. So, while a cool play feature for these mythological "children" things these toys are allegedly intended for, it is no great loss to me personally.

2 things to say

1. Awww, so cute

2. While they play a pretty good game of hide and seek, I believe there are more sightings of children than bigfoot.

Also, it's Christmas time, why dont you go check out toysrus on the week-end and see all the parents buying the transformers for their kids. Or do you think they are buying them just for themselves?

That was an attempt at humor on my part. I know children exist. Heck, I have a niece and nephew, and last time they were over we had some fun with some of my less fragile figures. (Someone still managed to snap a tab off of my Legends Class Thundercracker, but fortunately it isn't one that had a huge effect on the toy in either mode.)

And, objectively, I'd be all for a Combiner Wars Bruticus for them to play with and enjoy. It was just my somewhat roundabout way of expressing that I still love the toy that I do have and that, as an adult collector, it is more then sufficient for my needs.

I hear you, and I was just playing along with the humour. But you know, with the current lego craze, my little 10 year old cousin likes Constructbots better than Trasformers (yeah, what does she know, dumb 10 year old). So I am hoping these combiner wars figures start getting her into the actual figures since they do incorporate a building aspect and are more simple than others. If it got kids excited back in the 80s, I sure hope it gets them excited now (like the easy bake oven).

I'm looking forward to a possible CW Bruticus (we good, Va'al? ;) ) - hopefully we'll get a new voyager for Onslaught for a different torso configuration. Would be kind of bummed if we get a remold of OP or MM for that guy.

I dont think we will but I also dont think he will be as awesome as the previous Universe Ultra Onslaught we got. I havent seen many comparison pics with Universe Silverbolt so I dont know how much they differ but that Onslaught was one of the best figures from the Universe line. He was massive and imposing and was one of the best looking robots I have ever seen come out of hasbro. I dont think I am ready to replace him in my classics collection.

I know, right? For his time, Universe Onslaught was one of the best molds out there, and even nowadays, he really holds his own. I own 4 of that mold now: Takara Onslaught, Hothead w/ the Headrobots upgrade, and 2 Hasbro Onslaughts for the Butcher/Stronghold Headrobots upgrades.

I have my eyes set on the Botcon 2010 Clench - the most prized of them all. =P~

I did that once and got thrown out because I was freaking the parents out, took 5 guys to launch me like a slingshot.

WHAT!!??

More details please.

Also, was this a NYC metro area TRU? If so, which one?

Cobotron wrote:I have said this twice now, but I love saying it. I predict with the use of Prime for a Voyager, they will do a :BOT: team. Repainting the Stunticons as classics like Mirage, Sideswipe, etc.
It will come out 4th qt. as a Xmas time box set. :ic$:
Makes me wonder if I should hold off on OP as a single Voyager.

When this happens, I'm gonna start a new thread called "Told you so".

I know no one responds to my OP lead Autobot Combiner team because everyone thinks it's silly, but I have been dreaming of this since I was ten. Don't poo poo this old fella's dreams. It's all I have left.

I am glad you are getting your dream come true. And I am also ery surprised that the autobot set to combine with OP was just seen and then forgotten about in this thread. That's all I want to talk about right now (as can be seen from the comments above).

Has this been confirmed, or is this still speculation based on the existence of those characters in the CW line? It's highly likely speculation, but I guess I'm looking for pics or something... Image
No confirmation. Just guesses based on Combiner Wars and all. ;)

Wasn't there just a post showing Wal-mart inventory with Ironhide, Mirage, Prowl, etc?
I'll go look. Hold on.

Or its a sign they may be store exclusives, which I'm fine with. I'd rather new moulds on the shelves and repaints as exclusives (which in a round about way is me saying I've made peace with the idea of Defensor and Bruticus with Masquerade Prime as an exclusive so it doesn't clog the fiction or any idea of prowl setting up his own fraction to keep order)

I meant the combining aspect. I know the figures were mentioned in the listings, I just meant that it isn't confirmed that they'll be combining toys.
