gothsaurus wrote:It also dawned on me they could do a Darkwing (repainted Silverbolt) plus four (or more) new-head F-14 seeker combiners (from Air Raid) as a set and/or convention exclusive.
Any interest or thoughts on those notions? ... seeker combiner? Drill limb for Protectobots?
Optimum Supreme wrote:The way they're putting these out split over waves really pisses me off. That bullshit is why I was never able to complete 2 of the 3 Energon combiners. So I spend a bunch of money up front to start a combiner hoping that the next wave is actually easy to find, or I don't and when the parts to finish come out, oh hey, can't find the older ones anymore.
I miss the 80's, when these things could still be found on the shelves for like a year or two instead of just one or two short waves then vanish, other than overshipped pegwarmers.

Dunno 'bout your area but 'round these parts gas prices have dropped about 55 cents in less than a month.gothsaurus wrote:yeah, it's funny these days... with gas prices so high, it's almost cheaper to buy online instead of driving all over town constantly.

There is a lack of instant gratification though. It's so great to find those pieces you want in the wild instead of just buying on the endless web.
Same thing happened to me with Scrapnal and Tailgate. DOH!That said I waited and waited to find Gen Cosmos and Swerve, only to come to the conclusion I wouldn't find them. So I just recently bought them online(BBTS). Awesome, piece of mind , right? Well this past Saturday I decided to hit up the local TRU, cause they were having hella sale. Lo and behold a cache of those guys, and with a buy one get one 40% off. DOH!
Amen to that. It's all about the thrill of the hunt! But you never know what you'll find and where. Gas might be way higher than it was 15 years ago, sure. But I'm not ready to give up driving twenty minutes to the local TRU just cause I can get whatever I want online. It just takes some of the fun out of the hobby, for me.

CASH RIFLE!![]()
Come to think of it. During Beast Wars, I was in Chicago with no car. Urban safari. I had a whole route that employed buses, trains, and a lot of walking. Man I had some energy, and a concealed cash pistol in my sock. Because Cracky was lurking around every corner.

I live in New York City, and my entire toy strategy revolves around subway trains, buses, and walking. Honestly, it's probably the only real exercise I get...

Uhg! it's a real bear in the winter, isn't it?
and if you score a big haul, you have to transport all that loot on public transit.
I still miss it.

[gloat]Or if you're like me, bringing home the case pack of 2 Hasbro MP-10s, with all the Times Square TRU employees staring angrily as they watch you leave, since they wanted to buy those puppies up to scalp them. Hell no to that![/gloat]

Oh man, just remebered. When I saw those photos of the AOE TRU Platinums from NYC store, the first thing I thought was, thats gonna suck on the subway!

I went to the Times Square TRU today to check out those Platinum Editions. I'll probably end up getting the Leader 2-pack from BBTS or HTS, but I'll pass on that FE Prime w/ Trailer + Sideswipe. It just looks... not good. At any rate, TRU in general (and Times Square specifically) is tough with exclusives, because it's much harder to get a price match on those products.
