I've already bought all the first wave deluxes so I won't get it again just for the comics, but it's still a bummer.

Those two reasons are not mutually exclusive (is that the right wording?).

The comics werent available yet so the first wave didnt have any distinguishing differences between the english release and international release. But now, there are comics so not only will there be a distinction in wave 2, but now any rerelease of wave one will have 2 distinct releases: one English and one International. If Malaysia didnt get the comics in the past generations lines, it wont get them now (Hong Kong did and thus can get the rereleased versions with the comics). Canada never got the comics and still wont.

It's not that complicated.

Okay just one more - what's the difference between English/US release and international release?

Malaysia got the comics in the previous Generations lines. So does the presence of a comic imply English/US release, or is it:

English/US release with comics
International release with comics (Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore)
International release without comics (Canada)

English release does not need to have any other language than english on the box or contents (ie comics). International release has everything translated. That's it, the only 2 options. Some countries' laws dont care if their language isnt on the box or contents and will still sell the English version (usually with a sticker saying "be careful small parts" in whatever their language is). But other countries do.

If Malaysia got the comics before (just like Hong Kong, Australia, and Singapore)then they will get these comics. You guys get the same product as the states, your laws are not as restrictive.

US release, not English. UK and Australia (and other Anglophone countries) get the international version.

But then that gets super confusing because Hong Kong, Singapore and (newly known to me) Malaysia gets those versions too. I am super surprised Australia doesnt get the comics.

You know, I'm not sure. Australia might get the US release (which is different from the international release), as do Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore. I'm guessing Hasbro Asia works with US releases for some things.

As for anything within the EU (and I do not care if UK people like to believe they are not part of it), multiple languages need to be present, so an English-only publication cannot be released.

Indeed, the only way, besides Internet, to get the generations with comics, is to go to an import shop or comic shop. It's fairly annoying. ..and I don't know the reason why we don't get them!

EU language laws and international licensing. Hasbro UK and Hasbro EU are both responsible for both of those, too, and it's also the reason behind the amusing one-line bios.

I personally don't mind, as the comics are one thing and the toys are another, and I get the comics anyway. But I can see how some types of collector will find this annoying.

In Europe, they serve as a means of entertainment in the form of "Lost in Translation". Especially Dutch seems to be a tricky language for the translators ("Robot Function" for "Robot Mode", really?)

Hey Va'al. that comic is very relevant. says the guys whose province would have a better chance it it separated than Quebec would.

Of course I married a French-Canadian girl so that does't help. Even if Quebec separated we would have to go there to visit my in-laws.

If the pack-ins are indeed just recycled issues from RID or Dark Cybertron as a prelude to CW, then I can't see why.

If they are the actual Combiner Wars story, then they couldn't have the issues come out WELL ahead of the IDW story that sets it up.

TFWiki is saying that the wave 2 toys come with RID issues 13-16. Do we know what issues the wave 1 toys are supposed to come with? The way I understand what happened is that they couldn't finish printing the pack-in comics in time to slip them into the English-only territory packaging before they had to ship out, so even the territories that would normally get the pack-in comics got the international editions with the cards. Now the comics are printed, so any wave 1 figures that are included in future case assortments will have comics (if you're in a territory that gets the pack-in comic versions of the toys; if you're not, then you still just get the card).

TL;DR:
Have deluxes previously included pack-in comics in your region?
If yes, you will get comics with the figures once wave 2 ships.
If no, you will only ever get the cards, unless you import.
