I will admit I have fallen prey to that notion a few times. I had a good deal on Voyager DOTM Sentinel Prime, only to realize he isnt even worth the space he takes in my collection.

Aw, I have a broken one I got from a car boot but I still like it. Though looking for it just now (it's currently holding the large cannons from an Ironhide figure oddly enough) I found a Beast Hunters Arcee figure I forgot about and dropped in a box cos I thought like the Bumblebee I mentioned last week or so was drawn on or had ink spilt on but it's that weird plastic gimmick Hasbro used again, right?


Wouldn't buy Fort Max myself unless super cheap and even then I wouldn't know where to put him. Never really cared for his look (though liked the character in Marvel comics) and is just too big, too expensive, too blocky and doesn't really turn into anything that looks like anything.

It looks like dirst got stuck. I bought it second hand and when I inspected it I asked the seller why he would sell me something so dirty (like spilt ink). As for your thought on Fort Max, I share them. Also, I own Encore Fort Max already so I dont feel at any disadvantage from not owning the new one. If he drops to 100$ CAD, then he's bought, but not before.

Ah yeah I think it was you (or someone else here) who posted the pic of Wheeljack with the 'dirt'. And yeah this Arcee must have been in my spares/repairs/dont-cares box for ages cos I thought it was stained but upon finding that Bumblebee the other week and asking here about it all, it became clear. That's definitely not an effect I'd like to see Hasbro use again. She's ok I guess but doesn't really fit in my collection anyways (I have Gen Arcee for G1 and 2007 Arcee for my movieverse) so I may sell her with that BH Bee if I sell him too. Even if I have to explain on the eBay listing about the 'staining'.


By the way is there a decent well-articulated cheap Fortress Maximus more in the Voyager size class (3rd party, KO, whatever)? Like I mentioned I was fond of the Marvel characterisation with him and Spike in particular and would consider a smaller figure on my shelf (since he was much smaller in the comics compared to the cartoon).

Places like Ross, TJ Maxx, and the like were begging me to impulse-buy throughout the recent holiday season - I ended up with super-deals on TFs I wouldn't have paid full MSRP for (Platinum Dinobots, G2 Menasor), as well as one I wanted (CW Sky Lynx! One for me and one for my best friend) for about half-off. The deals were too good!

I did pass on CW Optimus, Onslaught, Motormaster and Superion, so there's some self-control....I also passed on a TM Ptero at Walmart today, since the self checkout line looked like hell.

Then again, I also stopped by a Target and TRU, to check prices and see what's new -- TRU still has wave1 deluxes, but for $20 a piece! They must be thinking if Walgreens can do it...but then you have Target still listing them for $10 (but all deluxes are gone!).

TRU's default non sale price for deluxes has been 20$ for years. The cw deluxes are currently 22$ online on their site.

I think mine had them for $18 prior to the holidays, but must've gone with the standard MSRP after, then, here in OR -- I only think that cuz Walgreens was the first time I saw them at $20! But $10 is pretty much the sweet spot.

I bought two CW Sky Lynxes for the price of one but to be honest I didn't open them cos after finally getting them I just didn't like the look of it and sold them on for a little profit later on.

If I could find a couple others as cheap as this one was I might try do one of them Reflector fan modes (and call it a spaceship rather than camera cos really it could be either).

I have yet to open my CW Sky Lynx either - I don't plan to sell since he's my first 'Lynx (missed G1's incarnation!)....just haven't gotten around to him, I guess. Well, originally he was to be a gift but when I found a second one, I took him in.

yeah he doesn't seem like a bad figure as such but just one of those rare cases where the new toy seems inferior in many ways to the original G1 toy and lacking a couple of fun key features of it. But then it's a lot cheaper too I suppose.

In retrospect, I woulda paid ~160 for SDCC Fort Max simply for that sword. I like the Perfect Effect one I bought but it's a bit heavy even for him to hold
