Re: Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Discussion Thread
Leader class price point? So I have to pay leader price for Skywarp because they packed him with a bunch of extra crap that I have no interest in? And I hope it's just these pictures but he doesn't look black, he looks dark gray.

I think it's a repainted Battletrap Head....
Its not I compared my battletrap with the picture and it's different

I want me a Skywarp ... so here's hoping he doesn't cost an arm and a leg to import. I'm out of soul now that Va'al no longer talks to me.

Not gonna lie, the only figure here I'm excited for is the skywarp. The skytread is nice, greenlight is.....fine, but the g2 sideswipe suffers from not goin all the way, like the cw g2 bruticus set. I just hope that an armada wheeljack will come from the sideswipe sometime.

Its been a (near) consistent pattern that at least one of the Seekers end up an exclusive. Pretty sure they do it on purpose knowing people want the trio.

I hope not. In the past 2 years when Deluxes figures came with a *little something extra* (thinking TR Arcee, Grotusque & last years Punch, Blast off, and Repugnus) they were between $25 and $30, I would expect/hope Greenlight, Lancer and the other Deluxes to be around the $30 US Price Point (20 dollar deluxe plus 6 dollar Battle Master plus a small markup for packaging and exclusivity)
Skywarp having 3 battle Masters would normally retail for 30 + 6x3(18) So $48.... Meaning $50.00 would not be a bad price at all for everything included.

Sorry..it took a while to convert from the other currency. So while Voyager Skywarp (+3 battle masters) will be Leader Price Point, so will the others, but the catch is... Firestormer & Slamdance are packaged together, I think very few remembered that, which I can understand as it seems to be quite an odd pairing, plus the chart was kind of cut-off etc....
So for *roughly* $50, you are getting 2 deluxes, and one BM, which is about $46 retail, so not that bad actually.

Skywarp ($30 Voyager) with three Battle Masters ($6 a piece) comes to about $48 USD, which is right on the money. The "Firestormer set" is a little bit of a rip-off, though. That's two Deluxes, G2 Sideswipe and Slamdance ($20 a piece), and only ONE Battle Master ($6) for a total of $46 USD. They could have given poor Slamdance his own Battle Master too, then the set would be a value at $50 when the total of each size class individually would be $52 USD. That extra $2 saved their could have offset the $2 lost with the Skywarp package.
Greenlight with Dazlestrike will probably be $25, which is a value (you can do the math). This is based on the listings that w-j88 listed earlier.

Hmm, I am digging the sets!
I am still really lukewarm on that Seeker mold though. I am passing on Scream, but I will get TC cause he's my favorite. I like the colors on Skywarp, and I love the army of Battlemasters with him! I may get him. I'm hoping he's after TC though, so I can gauge my interest with the mold before i potentially get 3 of them (Redwing included).
G2 Sideswipe needed some green dangit! And some new dangerous guns! He needed the G2 MP treatment! I am happy for a Slamdance too, and I love all the names in that set: The Firestormers, Slamdance, Sideswipe, I love it all.
And this G2 Swiper will be my IDW young boy who was birthed post war. It's pretty much perfect for that.
Lancer reveal please, along with dates of releases for all

I'm really digging the repainted silver shoulder launcher and missile on G2 sideswipe. I'm going to swap them over to the regular "G1" Siege Sideswipe and give the black cannon with red missile to G2 Sideswipe. That'll sooth my "show accuracy" needs. The black and red will still match with G2 Sideswipe, and the original G2 didn't have that shoulder launcher anyway, but a different neon green gun with elongated blue missile.
I'm tempted to get a second set to do something similar for the upcoming Siege Red Alert (since he doesn't come with any shoulder launcher accessories), but I don't know what I'd do with an extra G2 Sideswipe and Slamdance. $50 is a lot of money for an just accessory for an action figure.

Well I already have a Skywarp, so as cool as his small collection of minions is, I was always going to pass on that pack. The Firestormers, on the other hand, definitely have my attention. Seeing Slamdance with his color scheme flipped will kinda take some getting used to, but I really appreciate his guns being silver to reference his cassette origin, him getting his own new accurate head sculpt, and really just the fact that he exists. The G2 Swipe looks good too, that alt mode looks badass in black and red, and the red windshield is a nice touch. If they end up fixing Red Alert before they release him, I guess my two uses of this mold will be headcanoned to be twins?
I'm intending to name mine Deadline if I get him, as that sounds too much like a generic TF name for me to actually believe it's never been used, and of course a guy with that name would be black and red.
Flashwave wrote:sol magnus wrote:mentre83 wrote:It's nice to see Slam Dance back, even if not in cassette form.
G2 Sideswipe instead is quite pointless, unless it is meant to represent a new character sharing its deco (something that I previously read referred to Soundblaster).
I'm curious about the Targetmasters, although Skywarp alone would justify getting them.
I guess in my "personal continuity" G2 Sideswipe would have to be a different character. Lambo? Spinout? Fish-Tail?
Spinout is already taken, he's the red redeco of Sunstreaker. And a Chef... Who got promoted to a field commander... Because the Cons ripped tjrough everyone else above the chain of command.

I want that Skywarp. But to pay Leader price just for 3 BattleMaster repaints? That's going to be a bitter pill to swallow.

Could always sell them on the aftermarket and get some money back. Personally I'm cool with it because I like those little guys but I've long been established as a sucker for 'gimmicks' (when they work, obviously...I've long criticized the poor quality of Cyberverse toys!).

They may make it easier to customize and "correct" certain Battle Masters whose colors are quite a bit off from their G1 selves, like Firebolt and especially the upcoming Caliburst. Even Blowpipe and Aimless aren't quite right, but you can at least switch their arms around without much fuss to get a more accurate G1 look.

But you are already doing that when you buy the siege line since getting Starscream and 3 mainline battlemasters individually comes out to the leader price point (just about).
I think what sucks is that the idea of getting a package deal no longer exists. I dont know if it ever did, but since the generations boxsets you are basically paying the same as if the figures were released individually at retail and you bought them all.
o.supreme wrote:Sorry..it took a while to convert from the other currency.

yeah, its not bad. You didnt need to do any conversion though. All I did was look at the price of a siege leader in that listing and I saw that the price for the set was about the same thing.
D-Maximal_Primal wrote:I am still really lukewarm on that Seeker mold though.
Same here. I do not like the approach they took with this mold. the nose is far too long in contrast to the back which doesnt rise high enough and that leaves them with very tall shoulder pylons. All that can do is recreate their length during the coronation, but that doesnt work for any othe scene or any other seeker. Also dont like how the feet are not hidden in alt mode.
I will be getting this based on availability.
Glarryg wrote: Also, is it me or does it seem like whenever one of the original three Seekers is made an exclusive of some sort it's always Skywarp?
Glarryg
I honestly cant think of another time that happened in the past 8 years where Skywarp was the only exclusive of the three. And if it did, its definitely not common.
Skritz wrote:Its been a (near) consistent pattern that at least one of the Seekers end up an exclusive. Pretty sure they do it on purpose knowing people want the trio.
It's not, thats just something fans tell themselves. But if you look at the generations line's more recent releases, the seekers were mostly mainline, ex: Generations Deluxe mold, Generations legend mold, generations leader mold. All 3 seekers for all those classes available at major retailers.

Don't know how you feel about me, but I am there for you, and I understand your pain. There are a bunch of releases I will be **** out of luck for due to being based in Canada. Of course I have people that can buy them and ship them out for me, but that makes them cost an arm and a leg, money I simply can't spare for what ends up as repaints most of the time.
In any case, you got a friend in me.

I 100% agree. If you don't already have a G2 Sideswipe, this is a passable stand in. However, the G2 Masterpiece they did really nailed it: the face, the weapons, the spiked tires. I know that Masterpiece and Generations aren't on the same level, but MP Sideswipe is an old Masterpiece and not that much more complex than a modern Deluxe. The comparison just makes this new one feel lazy (still gonna buy it for Slamdance though).

I know I'm splitting a hair here, but as far as the Deluxe Classics Seekers, Skywarp was an exclusive to Target. Yes, a major retailer, but he was in the Target 2-pack along with the Ultra Magnus repaint of the Prime mold. Now I'm not sure if he was rereleased later in Generations, because I can't remember, because I found that 2-pack at retail, and never needed to look back.
But you are correct. It is something we tell ourselves. Especially for me when 2 of my 5 most favorite TF characters are Skywarp and Bluestreak. Two characters who more often than not get relegated to "always a bridesmaid, never a bride". If they are recognized at all.
