Yes, but Classics/Generations/RTS are all based on the G1 cartoon. It's odd that they gave Cyclonus a faithful alt mode and Earthified Kup but thank goodness they didn't Earthify Cyclonus as well.

Oh I'm not complaining about it. Just pointing out that, even within the Classics lines there are deviations and inconsistancies. It's getting really easy to tell which were from the first attempt at the Classics and which are from later lines.

Thats a funny thing, actually - I tend to keep my shelves sorted by year, so I don't really notice the aesthetic difference between 85 and 86. It isn't too much, anyway, as throughout the ages, Transformers generally have design features that link back to Diaclone\Microchange - the only thing thats annoying about the movie figures is their size compared to the older figures.

Some might consider these repurposing. I say they are the Classics versions of their characters:

ROTF Bludgeon as G1 Bludgeon

I'm not sure anything can replace Blaster, Soundwave and their minions. Those might be permanent.

I would use the G1 Megatron in my Classics display. I am so disappointed in the Classics/United Megatron. The only other viable option I would consider is Generations/W4C Megatron.
I'm using ROTF Bludgeon in my Classics/Generations/Reveal the Shield display and numerous 3rd party action figures like Defender, Munitioner and Combat Unit, Arcee and Medic.

Still waiting on decent replacements for Mirage, Dragstrip, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Strafe. I don't like the molds for Mirage, Dragstrip, and Strafe (both molds). Bumblebee and Cliffjumper are too big in my opinion, they should have been scouts. Missed out on Grimlock; someday I'll find him for a decent price.

I use G1 Perceptor. I'm currently using WFC Soundwave and might buy the 3rd party one we've seen in protos.

That's the extent of it for me.

I organize by set mostly.

G1 is organized by year. and the Classics Neo G1 stuff is all lumped together.

I've never been into repurposing figures. It's an OCD quirck of mine.

I use Generations Soundwave and Energon Shockwave.I leave the G1 versions of those figures on my G1 shelf.

I only have the one display, but there are a few versions of characetrs I consider difinitive from G1.

All the tapes for instance, except Frenzy, Rumble, and sometimes Ravage (when i feel like it). Even though Label Soundwave is the Soundwave for me, the look of the G1 cassettes and the fact that they actually transform into cassettes wins me over. It's just their thing. Ravage has a Neo G1 counterpart, which sometimes takes over from G1 Ravage and Label Rumble and Frenzy take over form their cassette versions because they also interact with Soundwave, albeit in a different way.

I don't think any Neo Lazerbeak will ever replace G1 Lazerbeak for me. G1 has the perfect look. The only way it could be replaced is if someone, somehow, made one more accurate to the cartoon ... and it'd still have to turn intoi a tape. G1 Lazerbeak looks great perched on Label Soundwave.

The PE versions just don't work well for me since they're made to interact with City Commander, an Autobot. And the Generations / United versions are also their own bot ... which takes away from them, IMHO.

The Dinobots also fill their respective roles when I have room for them. In dino mode, of course. Except Grimlock who has been upstaged by MP Grimlock, the others are exaqctly as I'd like them. If I had him, this logic would also apply to Gnaw and Tripticon.
