BBTS is selling TFC 06 with the modified orange cap? The pain doesn't stop.

You might also want to check out TFsource.com. I've used them and they are great. They have fast shipping and they package your items like it is some valuable museum exhibit piece. You'll pay a little more but they are great and have excellent customer servie.

I got mine from eBay and it shipped to the UK fine and it doesn't have an orange tip on it.

This orange plug business that bbts is seriously making me never use them again.

Now it even has spread to them ruining "vintage" toys with this rediculous bullshit. If they were gonna modify them, they should never have carried the product in the first place. Not only are they taking away from thre number of "untainted" megatrons out there, now they're bringing in more and more units in and modifying them with this plug crap.

I have lost all respect for BBTS, don't get me wrong they are playing it safe, but christ this rampant conservatism is really beginning to piss me off.

Don't give them ANY money for this bastardization of an awesome toy. Ebay, tfsource.com, and robotkingdom are much much better choices.

From what I understand many of the importers are doing this so many others other than BBTS is doing it

All BBTS are trying to do is get you your toy without it being impounded and possibly being fined. If you live in the States and dont want an orange cap; suck it up and paint it, move or get off your arses and get it from elsewhere youself.

BBTS has been great and I continue to do busines with them even though I'm not getting MP-05 from them or anywhere else with the dumb-arse orange tip on it. As someone mentioned it's the stupid Yank's law that should be blamed. Come to think of it why not put the orange cap on the real gun instead of the toy one

Yes it will, the orange tip would be VERY obvious in robot mode too.

Shooting forward? The end of the gun is pointing foward in robot mode on G1 Megs (unlike MP Megs, who has the barrel in the right place (still an odd direction to be excreting), though it looks like it's a bit too far up IMO).

I think the point people are trying to make is that there are plenty of other retailers you can purchase the un-moddified version from without having to go through all the red tape. Is the orange tip really going to prevent BBTS from being liable if there is an incident and someone gets shot or hurt? In certain situations a gun looks like a gun whether it is a toy with a bright orange tip or not. Is is dumb to boycott BBTS because of this? Well it's a matter of opinion but I don't despise them for their decision; it's their store so they can make the rules.

Maybe it does maybe it doesn't. I understand that it is 1/6 scale but Derringer's are small pistols and no less lethal or harmful. The Final Fantasy gun has revolving cylinders, cocking hammers, and a working trigger. Shouldn't the toy gun law apply to this as well? I see no orange tip. You might argue that it is a replica ,but at what point does it stop being a toy and start being a replica? As far as I am concerned the whole orange tip system isn't without major flaws. Is it okay for me to paint an orange tip on a real gun and start playing with it in the yard and would people even be alarmed or assume it is a toy?

I'm not hating on BBTS and I would still buy from them if I found something I wanted at a price I was willing to pay, but I can see both sides of the argument and there are valid points to each side.

Some people are never satisfied. And ours dont have to have the dutch-cap either.

Doesn't ebay already have enough problems with scams, KOs, and holding people's positive feedback for ransom? Now we have to add the aiding of trafficing illegal gun sales to the list.

I just checked, apparently the sale of human organs is frowned upon too. eBay are really missing a trick here...

I am curious- How many people use eBay often to purchase Transformers? If you don't use it, why? For instance, are you nervous about the sellers reputation? Are the shipping fees too much? Are you aggrevated with bidders that use bidding agents?

In the past ive used ebay a lot. But as ive slowly gone away from collecting the older lines (G1 through to Energon) with the advent of there being half decent distribution of new stuff in the UK, so Ive slowly stoped using ebay.
If I buy online these days its in recognised stores, cuase frankly for brand new up to the minute stuff, ebay is almost always FAR too overpriced (although I preordered MP SS for not too much at all on ebay).

I try to avoid using ebay simply because i'm sick of getting sniped. Don't so much mind the occassional fair priced BIN.

I sometimes buy Transformers from ebay if it looks like it will be a good deal or it is just hard to find. In general there is far too much price gouging for stuff that isn't that hard to find, and the KOs being passed off as real Transformers at premium prices aren't making things any easier.

Overall I'm just upset with all the dishonesty and underhanded listings. There is one seller that many other people may be familiar with here as well that I noticed will take a Transformer and nickel and dime out all the parts of a complete action figure at inflated Buy It Now prices. There might be a mint G1 Mirage that is listed and it has no accessories. You will then go down a few listings and find that same seller listing the accessories. Scroll down a little further and there is the G1 box. A little further down the styrofoam for the box is listed and then a seperate listing for the sticker sheet and tech specs. I understand selling just the accessories if that is all you've got but why break a set? Is there really such a niche market for Topspin's blaster or is that overpriced blaster listed seperatley in hopes that the potential buyer of the figure itself now has to shell out an additonal $15 in order to make sure he gets all the accessories they should have come with in the first place. I've seen some of these listings get so bad that you have to buy Skywarp's missle launchers one at a time and then you have to buy the missles for the launchers one at a time.

Usually, if at all possible, I'd rather just purchase from a store that I know and trust or can ask others if they are reputable.

A couple of notes:

Didn't this start out as a question if the RE-issue Megs has an Orange tip? This is news to me and I still haven't seen a pic of it, so I'm a little skeptical.

If BBTS wants to add a tip to one of there items and states that they are doing so, then that is their prerogative.

The distinction between a replica and a toy gun is defined by the law. This country is very proud if the 2nd Amendment (The right to bear arms) and there are A Lot of Gun nuts out there. A replica is legal. Just look at the Civil War buffs. However, given enough time and stink, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to make the same law applicable to a replica.

Yes, orange tips are annoying. However, the split second that a police officer has to decide if he is in danger or not, is the same split second, he is pulling the trigger on his gun. Ideally, we wouldn't need such drastic measures, but as our history shows us, these actions and laws are need to protect the citizens. On top of that, our country is very "Sue Happy". Given any reason to sue and make $$ and someone will do it. i.e. warning labels on coffee that says, "Caution HOT!" because someone got burned once, and they got A Lot of $$ for that one.

Lastly, I use eBay quite frequently for my older Transformers purchases. If it's new, I just try to find it at local retailers. However, I am mostly a G1 fan. Also, I like cheap multicoloured KO's, they add a little spice to my collection. So I frequently visit thrift stores, flea markets and the likes as well as eBay for my "fix".

All in all, I agree that it sucks that we can't buy MISB Masterpiece Megatron(if that is what you want). And as individuals, it is your right to try to find exactly what you want, it's your money. However, you must know and accept that if you buy an unmodified Megs and it gets stopped at customs, it's your loss. No one else is to blame, since you were knowingly trying to skirt the law.
