Ahh yes, the Megatron leftover parts.
That development meeting had to be a riot.

Dev #1. O.k so Megatron is getting rid of his organic side, what do we do with it?
Dev #2. Lets take BM Meg's left over organic crap and turn it into a robot, only without a robot mode, and make it fully organic, so he mutates more than transforms.
Dev #1. Yeah, yeah that's the ticket. Kind of like an Animorph without the human part.
Dev #2. Pass the E, and can I get some of that weed too.

Weird one indeed.

No, I'm on Team Tyler's Van. ;)

Now that I ponder... the first picture actually doesn't look half-bad. At least in general shape. The colors are eye-searing, at least. The second, though...
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

What's all this team Edward and Jacob. They are clearly pansies. The best team to be on is...

Team Lestat

Anyways, Savage/Noble is a weird figure, but I've always wanted one. One of these days I'll have it.

I'm surprised no one's ever made a Dracula "transformer" I mean with the whole bat (and wolf, TRIPLE CHANGER!!!) thing, he'd fit better than say, Spider-Man or Luke Skywalker.

awesome point! and there'd be no pesky licensing issues either.

i think in one of the generations books there was mention of a cancelled line in the 80s for Universal monsters like Frankenstein('s monster), The Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Mummy (i think?) and Dracula. As far as licensing goes, I think they'd have to get permission from Universal Studios...

Dracula is public domain. Dracula looking exactly as he does in any movie, comic or TV show, yeah, that'd require licensing, but a take on the character from the original novel is fine and dandy.

Ahh, how did I not notice this thread earlier. Brilliant work again Diem! I laughed my arse off (not literally, it's still there).

This thread needs to be pimped on the Twincast ASAP, and I assume it will be front-paged when it is completed, like the "26 alt modes" thread was - if I recall correctly.

I don't think this thread should go up as a news item or anything. The previous thread I was a private citizen of Seibertron; since then I became a member of staff and I feel it would be inappropriate to push my own thread.

I appreciate your sentiment though.

I will try to write an entry after work tonight once I reach the appropriate level of intoxication.

Fair enough not blowing your own trumpet, which sounds very dirty, but maybe one of the other news crew can post it. I frequent Seibertron every day, but even I don't get a chance to go perusing through the forums a lot of the time, so I think a lot of people will miss this if it is not front paged.

I really appreciate that write ups like these can make me have a good chuckle at my hobby. TFs are something that we all love here, but posts like these remind us that it's not serious business, and the more we can laugh at our hobby, the more we can enjoy it.

PS. Team Duckula for the win. Totally.

I judge a TF toys weirdness solely by it's design/sculpt.

My 10 top list "for today" is as follows:

1987 Squeezeplay. a over all weird looking toy in both modes. a super weird upside/down type transfotmation. doesn't look like any animal I've ever seen on the earth. awful colors.

Beastwars Transmetal 1 optimus primal. I remember the on-line jokes fans made when they said which is mode is the robot mode. not a bad scupt compared to others. it's just weird the robot mode looked more beastly while the beast mode looked more robotic.

beastwars deluxe fuzor injector. what a ugly toy in both modes. this toy takes the whole mis-proportioned body parts to new levels.

Beastmchines mega sized Megatron. what a awful toy. the robot face sculpt was just horrible. had this toy been a bit bigger in size, the stuff they were trying to accomplish like extra design sculpt & gimmicks would have worked a lot better. not a fan of the skinny tubalor type design in both modes.

1987 trottlebot goldbug,3 years later & the bumblebee character type toy loses more poseability than the 1984 toy had. not a fan of the simplified tranformation gimmick.

ROTF Twins,i'm counting them as one, since they work together & probably can't function seperatly. i'm not a fan of the extremly ugly & distorted looking faces. what's up with one arm/hand being bigger than the other. horrible colors & every day booring alt modes chosen.

beastwars transmetal 2 basic sized optimus minor. what a ugly tiny toy. it's got not good going for it in design sculpt in either mode.

Cybertron basic sized clocker, the worst designed basic for the entire AEC toy line. too simply, wimpy & weird looking. colors don't help.

beastwars iguanus, just a horrible mess as far as engineering goes. design sculpt isn't that great either. ugly robot face sculpt.

Rotf deluxe sized breakaway. the ugly tiny robot head ruins the whole toy. the brown colors bring the mold down ever more. this toy shines in the thrust dark red colors with the new head sculpt.

I can list hundreds more, but don't have the time nor do I want to waste the time listing them all.

I apologise but I have to disagree with you on almost all counts.

1987 Squeezeplay. a over all weird looking toy in both modes. a super weird upside/down type transfotmation. doesn't look like any animal I've ever seen on the earth. awful colors.
What's wrong with Squeezeplay's colours? Dark blue, purple, grey, classic 'Con colours. And he's from a period where nothing being produced looked like earth stuff so that really doesn't hold weight.

Beastwars Transmetal 1 optimus primal. I remember the on-line jokes fans made when they said which is mode is the robot mode. not a bad scupt compared to others. it's just weird the robot mode looked more beastly while the beast mode looked more robotic.

Okay I'll give you this one. Between the awesome Leader Optimus Primal and the Optimal Optimus this figure was a bit of a sad milestone along the way. He's not that weird though.

beastwars deluxe fuzor injector. what a ugly toy in both modes. this toy takes the whole mis-proportioned body parts to new levels.
Yeah, Injector's weird and Ratorta's even weirder. Unlike some of the other figure's I've ragged on Injector was very much meant to be bizarre.

A bad mold but not an especially weird one.
1987 trottlebot goldbug,3 years later & the bumblebee character type toy loses more poseability than the 1984 toy had. not a fan of the simplified tranformation gimmick.
It's true, the trottlebots had issues. Not least being called trottlebots. Having to find a toilet at a moment's notice is always tough. Really though, these guys were the cheap price point figures and if you're looking for poseability 1987 is not the place to be looking for it.

ROTF Twins,i'm counting them as one, since they work together & probably can't function seperatly. i'm not a fan of the extremly ugly & distorted looking faces. what's up with one arm/hand being bigger than the other. horrible colors & every day booring alt modes chosen.
Actually I quite like their alt modes. Sure, Mudflap is an alarming fibre-intensive-diet brown but Skids is quite a pleasant colour. I always felt that if these guys had different headsculpts they would be really good figures.

beastwars transmetal 2 basic sized optimus minor. what a ugly tiny toy. it's got not good going for it in design sculpt in either mode.
Yeah, I'll give you this one.

Cybertron basic sized clocker, the worst designed basic for the entire AEC toy line. too simply, wimpy & weird looking. colors don't help.
What's wrong with Clocker? The worst you can say about him is that he's a little generic. He has a neat little alt mode and a competent robot mode. Why pick on him, really?

beastwars iguanus, just a horrible mess as far as engineering goes. design sculpt isn't that great either. ugly robot face sculpt.
Again, he's more generic that terrible. Just your typical early Beast Wars basic-class dude.

Rotf deluxe sized breakaway. the ugly tiny robot head ruins the whole toy. the brown colors bring the mold down ever more. this toy shines in the thrust dark red colors with the new head sculpt.
Aw, but he's so cute! There are way weirder figures in the movieverse (ie Dreadwing)
