I like it.. Bludgeon was a awesome figure with alot of neat gimmicks, nice to see a Homage done with this mold

That's no homage, that's blasphemy.
Overlord was a:
- baseformer
- triplechanger (quintiple if we count the separate vehicle modes as two and the united vehicle mode as another)
- double powermaster
- duocon
- bada$$

now, that mold is not even close. Plus, he didn't even nearby sport swords - he has a BFG and a plane that could be used as shield. Where's the homage in that chewed piece of bubblegum?

Sweet. I'm going to save a fortune by not buying this. Such a disappointment. I hope Takara sees this as an opportunity to cash in and re-release Overlord properly.

It's a nice figure, but IMO it's not the Overlord I was hoping for. Sadly I guess I'll have to wait for an eventual 3rd party to make a proper one.

HOWEVER! I'm surprised it hasn't been thought of yet; has anyone considered that a plane homaging Overlord's plane half might be one of the attendee-only figures?

The Official BotCon facebook page just posted an up close and personal image of the recently revealed BotCon 2012 "Invasion" Boxset exclusive Gigatron (Overlord). Take a look below, they've promised to post more images of this guy to the Official BotCon 2012 website soon.

Whatever thoughts I may have on the overall figure, I gotta admit that's a nice head.

Looks like it's the handpainted model though.

Whoa!! That is ridiculous! What a crappy halfassed effort on Hasbro's part.

Seriously.....it's garbage. I can't ever suspend disbelief enough to ever think that this is or ever could be Overlord/Gigatron.

Like others have said. Looks like i'll have to hope for a third party to make a proper Gigatron.

Lord knows Hasbro can't figure it out. Lazy bastards.

Not in love with this, but I hope it sparks enough interest in the character for a 3rd party take, or (god's willing) an encore version. Overlord is right around #2 on my list of TF's I really, really want re-released.

Well I never did like the Bludgeon mold anyways, so that makes this easy to pass. The Ultra Magnus repaint of G2 Prime could be sweet especially if make toys redid the trailer. But unless I see something fantastic Im skipping. Horrible first figure by the way.

While the homage is ok using the Bludgeon/BanzaiTron mold, this is really just Giga. Why they put "tron" at the end to confuse people I don't know because Giga"tron" was Megatron's name in CarRobots/RID.

There is no "tron" anywhere, it's just Giga (tank), Mega (jet), merge into Overlord. I like it and I don't like it. This is as bad as making Galvatron from Evac/Blades. For once make a real toy with limited numbers. I have a feeling the door prize will be Mega "not tron" maybe?.

Wow they released pics this early which means the Botcon staff has been lurking amid speculation.

I think it was Botcon Scourge that had it bad too. Made me really back away from it. Nightbeat too I think.

Starscream and Grimlock made him look good.

But the new pics ... at first I wasn't impressed with the head. Then I saw the head with the rest of the body and got less impressed, then I saw the alt mode.

Yeah ... so glad I stopped caring about BotCon figures the first year FunPub took over.

I second this...

I for the most part don't care for thus don't buy any botcon convention/club toys.

To me their just glorified repaints of molds I already have.

The only two botcon toys I thought looked decent thus bought was Cyclonus using the beastmachines ultra sized jetstorm toy mold. Deathauras using the Rid megatron 6 changer toy mold.

BTW,I just got off work,I saw the bot pics of botcon 2011 Gigatron earlier today. I didn't realize they released tank mode pics today. I guess i'll check out the tank mode pics of gigatron in a few minutes.

Lastly,why I love the HFTD Bludgeon toy mold. and I love the masterforce overlord character & 1988 toy. I think using the hftd bludgeon mold for 1988 overlord/gigatron was a awful choice. IMHO,Animated blitzwing would have been the better mold to use for overlord/gigatron. as animated blitzwing has a jet & tank mode. I also think energon voyager jetfire & voyager cliffjumper would have made decent overlord toys. all that needed to be done to energon cliffjumper is swap out the top alt mode pieces for tank turrent pieces.

It's Neo-G1, cause bludgeon never appeared in the "main" movie toyline... He came out in the NEST subline. He never made it to the movie either... so i guess he's an exception.

Oh if that is, im completely not buying the boxset. I cannot attend the con and im not going for the Iacon pack just to realise they ripped me off Overlord's other half.

Maybe it's because Overlord hasn't been a part of my life for very long, but I don't really see what else could have been done, really... That being said, I like it... Mostly because it validates putting my Banzaitron and Bludgeon in with my Classics characters. I still won't be getting it because then I would need to locate Games Of Decepticon and G2 Redux to complete my collection. Is way too pricey.
