Excellent point, and it'll go with the other movie related Platinum sets.
Well, I look forward to hunting for his minicon at least. Platinums seems to be ironically hit and miss in regard to their paintjobs. Springer looks to be the best version yet, but they don't know how to draw flames, so both Hot Rod and Rodimus look bad. I wonder how Unicron will look - great or terrible. Either way I'm not sure I want to replace my Amazon Unicron.
Hopefully the box art will look like the toy. It's a small pet peeve, but I dislike it when the art doesn't match the toy and we've gotten a lot of that lately.

What exactly are you looking for in a Unicron color scheme? I was putting together thoughts and pics and stumbled on a post from Megatronus with pretty much all my thoughts. Both the 2010 and Amazon Unicron's have their merits as he points out:Seibertron wrote:And yet they still haven't done his colors right yet. Hopefully the 4th "special" edition is the charm!
megatronus wrote:I own both, and each has their own allure. This site actually has great galleries comparing them. Here's a prime shot:
The problem is that the movie uses a wide ranging palette of colors. I really think it's a matter of personal preference. Compare the above to each of these shots from the movie:
Some shots have more grey, others more blue. Also, the oranges vary. The two versions tease those differences out into two equally serviceable versions.
Once I have the space to do so, I plan on displaying both. 2010 Unicron in planet-mode, since the black wash on the round planet cover-pieces really pop and highlights the mold's details. Amazon Unicron in robot-mode, since I think that version meshes a bit better with my Classics/Generations toys.

While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

Plus, it'd be a way for hasbro to cut even more costs, I'd think it'd be an easy choice for them to gouge even more money out of the mold

Inflation mixed with a collectors oriented market =\= price gouging.
Personally, it would have paid more if they released a more movie accurate version when they first released it. So yeah, I'll pay more now. Go ahead Hasbro. Charge what you need to do that you can keep making transformers I want to buy. Go ahead. I'm cool with it.

IDW has stated that they want to stay away from the "religious" stuff with Transformers, so Primus and Unicron haven't been a part of the modern stories they're telling. However, in so far as Unicron is (or used to be) a "multiversial singular entity," I believe the "Darkness" of the "Dead Universe" in the IDW comics is basically Unicron's manifestation in that corner of the multiverse.

It will be upwards of 150$ 100%. Robot kingdowm is always the cheapest price for these. Case in point: Bigbadtoystore has it up now for 170$.
BUT you can wait for a discount if you dont mind the chance of it selling out before a discount happens.

I hate to be this guy, but on Primus, you're just flat out incorrect on this:Wolfman Jake wrote:o.supreme wrote:Interesting...Fitting for the 30th anniversary for TF:TM. I wonder after 10 years, if we are going to finally get Unicron in an IDW comic?
IDW has stated that they want to stay away from the "religious" stuff with Transformers, so Primus and Unicron haven't been a part of the modern stories they're telling. That's not just a tag line for those covers, Primus has been brought up plenty since 2012.
Additionally, characters such as Drift, Star Saber, and even Skids have religious tendencies which have been explored.
As for Unicron, well, I'll wait for someone else to link to my now a bit out-of-date thread about that, but there are theories
Also, I want the Mini-con in this upcoming Platinum release to be Bug General colors without flaky blue Bug General vac metal chrome. Let's do it. Let's dream the dream.

You most likely read that from either here or from other sources it got that info from:Wolfman Jake wrote:Hmmm, thanks for the heads up on that, ScottyP. I could swear I've read that about the IDW comics wanting to stay away from the "religious" stuff,
However, the next paragraph explains the change of mind about Primus for IDW's comics:The IDW universe is the confusing one. Writer Simon Furman outright said that the IDW universe would have "no Primus. No Unicron". In accordance with this, the Furman-penned Stormbringer, rather than have Transformers swear by Primus, instead had them swear by Primacron, but a monkeywrench was thrown into the works when Primus's name was heard being taken in vain in Eric Holmes's Megatron Origin #4. Furman attempted to justify this on his blog by claiming that this was not the Primus, but simply "something or someone" called Primus that had existed some point. [2]
With Furman's removal as the primary architect of the IDW universe, things got changed: "Chaos Theory Part 2" by James Roberts refers to a Primus. However, he is not only referred to as a being that Optimus doesn't believe in, he's mentioned in conjunction with two other gods, Mortilus and Adaptus, that Optimus also didn't believe in. This then led to a whole new version of the Primus creation myth in the 2012 More Than Meets The Eye annual: Primus was the first god who split himself into five separate gods, and he had taken the form of Vector Sigma after a vicious battle against Mortilus. Later on, Thirteen Primes come to power on Cybertron, ruling thirteen tribes. Alpha Trion, one of these Thirteen mentions that they possessed a bond to Primus.
