Last I saw, The Platinum edition Unicron re-release was just a rumour, but then I've just seen him on Kapow and In-Demand Toys, he's even pre-sold out on Kapow.

Did I miss a trick here or did this one just really come right out of left field. I'm fairly certain I've never seen any official photos or any press releases about it :???:

Dunno if this is late to the party, but I really want that Platinum Arcee. Springer looks good too, Kup looks good but I already have the Prime figure, Blurr just doesn't look Blurr-y enough to me, and Magnus has too many problems for me. But that Arcee...I am REALLY digging the colours on it. Hopefully once I'm back in the collecting game some generous soul will sell her separately for a sensible (read: sub-£30) price.

Are you asking for not only a set of all 28 1984 characters + Jetfire, Shockwave, the Insecticons, the Dinobots and the Constructicons; but for a Platinum set of that many characters?

It has been a while since we heard of the Platinum Armada of Cyclonus set. It has been available online for a while, not at the greatest price, but now it has hit Canadian retail. It was found in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for $79.99 CAD, which is around $60 USD, so not as ridiculous as other sets have been. For those unaware, this set features a new sweep headsculpt that was never used before. In Canada this is a Toysrus exclusive, while it is a Target exclsuive in the US.

This makes me jealous, as a Brit. $79.99 Canadian? Toys R Us UK have it on their website for a horrifying price.. £99.99!!! That's the equivilant of an eye watering $131.26 US!!! Or $173.53 Canadian.

Woah. So this set is already at the "sale" price instead of the usual 110$? Kinda amazing! I wonder if the price will remain this way or if it will go back to 110$ after a while?

Do we know what the price is for the upcoming set of the "Autobot Heroes"? I can't quite make out what the paper says in the picture.

That set is around the 150$ price point.

Thanks WJ! That's a bit steep for me considering it's all reissues but if it goes on sale down to $120ish then I may have to go for it. The only figure I have from it is Magnus

Reusing molds has never figured into prices. I mean think about it, Hasbro got away with selling the same Leader Seeker mold 3 times last year in different colours and they were all priced as high as Ultra Magnus.
The way Hasbro sees it, they have 3 deluxes (60$) a voyager (25$) and a leader (45$) plus premium deco on all of em (so add another 20$) and you end up wth 150$. Way cheaper than any botcon set also made up of redecos.
If the only figure you have from this set is Magnus, then this might be the set to get.

Fellow Seibertronians, courtesy of fellow user Logan79 we finally have a picture of Platinum Edition Unicron, being released later this year! The images comes from Twitter user @52. Listings having first appeared on sites like BBTS around a month prior, we had yet to receive an actual image of this figure's deco - but now Cybertron Con 2016 has provided us with the answer, appearing to homage the 1986 Movie's colours very closely. Check out the image below and tell us what you think!

It is almost exactly the same as the previous Amazon release since they are, after all, homaging the same colour scheme - but there do appear to be slight differences.

Most notably in the torso... then again, could just be the lighting.

That looks almost exactly like the Amazon one from a few years back. The blue looks a little lighter, but it could just be the lighting. Are we sure it's not just a placeholder for the real one?
