"State your business!"
"This is my command. You are to buy the 2010 Unicron Redeco. It is the one thing - the only thing - I wish you to purchase."
"You have nothing to fear! I have already purchased the Amazon-exclusive Unicron with my bare hands!"
"You exaggerate."
"The point is I got the mold, and the movie-homaging redeco with it!"
"No... the point is, you are a fool. The mold with the same deco has been passed to a new franchise - Platinum Edition. Buy it again."
"Why should I? What's in it for me?"
"Your bargaining posture is highly dubious... but very well. I will provide you with new packaging, and more retailers to buy it from."
"And?"
"And nothing! You belong to me now."

They are almost exactly the same - they are, after all, homaging the same colour scheme - but there do appear to be slight differences.
Most notably in the torso... then again, could just be the lighting.

I know this is off topic, but that's got to be the worst misuse of 'homage' I've ever seen on a board that really overuses the word. It's not an homage if it is the same toy with the same paint scheme. Something that looks just like itself is not an homage, it's the same thing as it was before.

When I said that, 'they' was referring to both toys, and 'colour scheme' was referring to the colour scheme Unicron had in the 1986 movie. I wasn't saying Platinum Unicron was a homage to 2010 Unicron.

I'm pretty sure if the Platinum is the exact same thing as Amazonicron, the "original" may actually drop in price. Because more supply. Right now, the price is inflated as hell so the ones late to the party were screwed. So my guess is the price of the old one may match the Platinum's at the very least.

How about everyone is right enough that it doesn't matterDagon wrote:Ok, fair enough, but that's still not an homage. A picture of me is not an homage to myself. The Unicron toy is meant to resemble Unicron from the movie, so it looks like itself. It's not homaging anything by looking like itself. If this Unicron was was painted up like that scene from Headmasters where Galvatron gets all large and round and planet-esque, that would be an homage.
Speaking of which....why can't we get that? That's another use of the mold that I'd be interested in.

The Cityformer G1 Fort Max mold was already bigger than the Unicron mold even back when it came out in Armada. Nothing's changed since.Blozor wrote:Couldn't they have at least upscaled the size to be bigger than Metroplex for the price? It's weird having a planet that could be stomped on by a city from a planet it originally almost ate.

Speaking of which....why can't we get that? That's another use of the mold that I'd be interested in.To me this is Armada Unicron with a G1 Unicron head, and the rest of the body is an homage to the color scheme of G1 Unicron. To you, this is G1 Unicron. Both things are ok.
And your Galvatron idea is glorious. I'd love that.
Dagon wrote:Blozor wrote:Is anyone else just satisfied with their original Armada Unicron, at least until Hasbro or someone produces some giant sized ultra-Unicron?
I absolutely am. I made the comment earlier about the giant bloated planet Galvatron repaint, but if I were interested in that, it'd probably be that I was interested in looking at pictures of it online. We've had repaints of this toy in Energon and a bunch of exclusive rereleases, but I've personally never felt the need to get a second one. All the rereleases have just been this toy in different paint, so there isn't any real impetus to double dip. It's also a fine toy, for what it is and who it is. If there was a brand new figure, I may be tempted quite a bit, but the same guy with slight color differences doesn't do it for me. I do think it's cool that there have been so many opportunities for people to get this guy though.
