A request for those with G1 Metroplex

Postby rob_charb » Mon Oct 22, 2007 9:44 am

Hey all, I was hoping somebody with a G1 Metroplex could help me out with something. I've been trying to figure out just how he transforms into city mode by looking at pictures of him, mainly from tfu.info, but there are some things that are still throwing me. Could anyone with Metroplex please explain to me just how his legs, arms and torso transform into the city mode? Or even PM some scans of the instructions/pics of him being transformed? It would be much appreciated as I need it for a little project I'm working on. Thanks a bunch!

Oh, and sorry if this was the wrong forum/not allowed!

Weapon: Megaton Battle Sword
legs - fronts are hinged at the feet and the outer back side. Pull the front down and the back flap out.

Torso- take the right arm and swing it around to the back. This will allow the shoulder area to flip, revealing the helicopter pad.

From the robot mode front, the legs are swung upwards to the back (so they are completely flat on the floor when opened) and the torso rotated 180 degrees, so he is basically backwards.

If you have seen pics, you can see how the legs want to be slightly outwards at the hip, and bent slightly inwards at the knees.

Thanks for the info guys. One more question, could you describe what kind of a joint they used to swing the right arm around? I'm guessing it's some kind of a swing-arm type joint, right?

His right arm is just a bog standard shoulder joint. It's the left arm (from his perspective) that slides on a groove to the back, then you pivot it around onto the back, allowing the left shoulder to swing open outwards, revealing the helipad. You can tell which one it is, there is a giant slot running the length of the side and around the back slightly. Mine is pretty easy to slide back and forth, but takes a little effort to get around the corner. But very, very little effort. So if it doesn't go, dont force it.

The right arm just swings in a 360 circle on the spot. It doesn't move.

As he's asking for scans of the instruction manual, I guess not. Isn't there a site somewhere with all of the instructions scanned in? I remember finding it once.

EDIT: Here is the Metroplex one. http://www.tfracetrack.com/instructions/g1/autobot/metroplex.jpg
