Frenzy was never shown to be a working boombox. Sure, Bumblebee actually had an engine and all vehicle TFs had interiors (sake for Megatron ofcourse) but Frenzy
could just form a shell resembling a boombox, not actually a working one. It's a stretch, I know.
But his parts have to go somewhere, they'd probably fold up inside the boombox.
I buy that, at least that's how I was looking at it. And like it was also said, he's almost entirely made out of what looks like small rods, rods that telescope at that. That might be why he (at maximum extension) could appear to be 4ft tall, whereas sneaking off of Airforce 1, he seemed shorter. I could see all those spindly little peices collapsing in on themselves and folding up inside that casing. And to be able to shrink down that small kind of covers how his head could shift down to the size of a tiny cell phone. As for his weight/mass, it seemed to me like Sam was tossing him off pretty easily, like he didn't weigh more than 10 lbs at most. It's all that agility and clawing that kept Frenzy going, not size or weight. Maybe I've just been a fan too long and my ability to believe is that stretched, but I didn't mind the detail too much. Made more sense than a 30ft robot turning into a human sized handgun at least (and come on, who's gonna knock G1 Megatron, right?)
P.S. if anyone has any notions about where the car interiors end up or how they repair broken windsheilds or how they fix chipped paint, I'd love to know that too
Yeah, I have too much time on my hands.
